THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Tamaki is annoying as usual, even some teammates thinks so too. Another slow episode this week. Ooh and the general was tough as usual, I'm not surprised. Some nice info revealed also this episode by Theoria. Dat project.

Next episode looks better though with some fighting under the winds by the looks of it. I hope.

Though it's been hinted it already, what was confirmed about the Juria System was good to hear. Their mental states affect how well they adapt to their mechs, nothing groundbreaking but it's all about the execution

Continuing from last week, Majestic Prince shows more of the interplay between Team Rabbits. Some coming out for the better and others not so much. Interested to see how Asagi and Kei's battles will be in the future with the love issues they're suppressing. If these issues don't get resolved soon, it could lead to some unexpected developments in battle. The Juria System is the anchor in this particular mecha series that connects the character drama/battles and for me I find that prospect exciting with how many directions the show could go

Pretty much confirmed for a love triangle(possible square?) at this point with (Theoria?)< Izuru < Kei < Asagi. I'm not convinced yet that Izuru is romantically interested in the noble as is the popular theory but it's more of Izuru's earnest feelings of learning more of his past and she's his only link at the moment

Slow episode but I liked it. Alot got explained and I thought the relationship between the Wulgaru and Humans was cooler than I thought it was going to be. Large oppai girl was really annoying, but nothing new there. Sure does look like a love triange or whatever is forming. Seems Izuru knows the Laxus girl from before his memories were erased and apparently they were somewhat close?

Preview shows crashed Wulgaru ship on Mars. Laxus girl's mom perhaps?

Plot heavy episode helps considerably with development of the background for the conflict. It looks like humans don't rank very high on the evolutionary scale as far as the Wulgaru are concerned--we may not see a lot of interspecies interaction here so Tamaki don't get your hopes up. Rating scores are lower than this series currently deserves, but that really was a pretty poor start in the first couple of episodes.
Please don't feed the trolls!

Huuuu, so no wonder they kept calling them primitive creatures. I guess it makes sense that so far the humans have been the most advance species they have met so far, since they have had time to evolved compare to the most earlier ones they crossed along the way.

Team Rabbit, well I now don't think they should be called that it's as if even their own side sees them as bait (which they have admitted but still haha) mmmm good episode.

Heh Usagi-chan is a cute word now that I think about it.

Okay, where do I even start?

Half this episode annoyed the crap out of me with its ridiculousness, and the other half was good if only for the fact that it featured the awesome Wulgaru who are honestly some of the best parts of this show.

First the good stuff: again the Wulgaru. Awesome characters who seem to steal their scenes. Prince Jiart is awesome and a welcome change from the cliches. We can already tell that they're going to set up a rivalry match up between Jiart and the other 5 nobles and the 5 members of Team Rabbits. However, there is the issue that the number is imbalanced (6 to 5) so either one member of the Wulgaru is going to not participate/die or there will be an added member to the Fail 5. I just hope this doesn't mean that the rest of the series is going to be full of one-on-one battles with the same opponents. That could get really boring. I also liked how some of the characters are changing and the advancement of the love square between Izuri, Theoria, Kei, and Asagi. And lastly, the discovery at the end was interesting.

Now, to what I didn't like (Warning: Get ready for a rant):

Okay, I've been annoyed by the craptastic "science" in this show already, but they have now just taken it to all new lows. First, they reveal that the Wulgaru are the progenitors of not only all of humankind, but several other races as well. Really? And not only that, but when they announce it, is there any acknowledgement of this miracle? No. Everyone is too busy thinking with their hormones to even give that game-changing surprise its due amazement.

Next, the Wulgaru did this by sending their "genes" through the universe and their "genes" sowed their wild oats creating all these different peoples? Yeah, umm, I've already said this but I think I may need to reiterate: GENES/DNA DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Genes do not just fly off into space and land on planets and create totally new whole organisms. Genes may be the building blocks of an organism, but you need more than just genes and genes alone. DNA is NOT an independent entity. It does not have a "want to survive" and it does not fly through the galaxy seeding its wild oats.

In addition, why did they even introduce that plot point with the Wulgaru seeding their "genes" throughout space in order to save themselves? First off, the Wulgaru DNA is degrading? They seem to be perfectly fine to me. Also, if they are the starters of all these different species, then the time of their so-called survival problem started billions, if not trillions of years ago. You guys have survived this long, how is your race in any danger?

Also, by introducing the "fighting for survival" card they have only given the Wulgaru a valid reason for doing what they are doing. It wasn't like they didn't know that the beings that came from their "alien spacefaring genes" weren't going to be sentient and sapient. If you sow an apple seed, you're going to get an apple. If you give the genes of a very complex being, you are going to get a very complex organism in return. So, I have no idea why Theoria and her mother suddenly decided that maybe what they were doing was wrong? They are fighting for their own survival after all.

It's like if you have a farmer who planted crops because his family was going to starve. Then when he goes to harvest them, his daughter complains because the carrots are "alive". Or as Cmdr. Simon says, it's like raising fish, only now your complaining about eating them. I'm not saying what the Wulgaru are doing is right, but they are trying to save their species, they do have their own survival to think about. And why are they so surprised that the Wulgaru think of them as "primitive"? They pretty much created the human race here, so I think they can be excused.

This is why I really think they should have kept to the whole simpler "they want to hunt us because their culture is built around hunters and the glory of the hunt" plot line idea. That way at least then the two groups can be on equal ground. But now they've tossed in that this is as much about survival for the Wulgaru as it is about the joy of the hunt, they also toss in that the Wulgaru are the creators of humanity. So you really have two groups both fighting for survival at the cost of the other. All of this just brings in unnecessary drama to a show that is really quite simple.

Now, I do ask why is it that the MJP of all the military entities is handling something as big as this? They're the ones designing the weapons, creating the soldier, talking with and discussing the aliens. Did this show forget that MJP stands for Military Junior Pre-Academy? This is like having the military's most important secrets being held by the JROTC! How does that make a bit of strategic sense?

Lastly, I don't know if I like that the reason Kei and Asagi aren't doing well, is because they aren't "sharing their feelings" and Tamaki is getting more and more annoying as the show goes on. Theoria is your garden variety "Lacus", however she is putting up a few death flags for me, especially considering how happy she make Izuru, so I don't know about her. As for her relationship with Jiart, I'm back to thinking they are brother and sister, based on the fact that she doesn't even think to refer to him as "prince", and they did bring up how much they look alike. Maybe Jiart just has the hots for his sister? It wouldn't be the first time unfortunately, and I could actually believe that of his character.

Well, it looks like they will be going to Mars next week, so we'll see where this goes.

I give this episode a reluctant 6.95/10. I took away massive points for the BS "aliens science" thrown around in this episode, but the appearance of the Wulgaru brought it back up some.

I thought it was a nice twist (?) that humans originated from the Wulgaru, but then after reading Irenesharda's post, I do think it's kinda...nonsensical? Well I've pretty much turned more than half of my brain off watching this so I won't question much of the show, but I guess what's more interesting is that the Wulgaru likes to hunt, and only see the humans as prey and primitive creatures. And I'm also interested in finding out Izuru and Theoria's past relationship. Hmm but other than that, I have a hard time watching the scenes with Tamaki...she is a complete dumbass, in real life, she would be considered socially awkward because she literally doesn't understand how to act according to the mood. Hello? They were just told that they're related to the Wulgaru and that they will be bait, yet she just goes on and on about the guy =_=

Although the alien funky genetic explanations are totally off from known science, the interaction between Jiart and the rest of the Wulgaru was really good.

Oh well, hopefully they will clarify the "gene" part in the future. As it stands now, it doesn't make any sense.

Have you heard of Panspermia? It is not thought as crappy science within the academic community though.

Besides such ideas are not something created by this show. It can also be found in some science fiction published in the west. If we want to complain about "crappy science" I guess much of the science fiction can be just dumped and we should never touch works of this genre except a very selective few.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

The real problem is not with the panspermia part. So far we just know too little info about how exactly are they assimilating the genes that they sowed. It's too early to pass a judgment. I believe they will reveal more in the future.

I know. My main objection is the statement "Genes do not just fly off into space and land on planets and create totally new whole organisms." calling it "craptastic science" while this kind of idea has been one of the popular themes in science fiction work.

On many things we can discuss, and perhaps you also have reasonable doubts, but you also have to wait until the series is finished to have a clear picture of the situation, then the science fiction you can not have so many prejudices, otherwise it falls on nice to imagine possible scenarios still not verifiable. Stake slow and tedious at times, but the new dates to the plot make it interesting future events, such as interesting are the reactions of Rin-rin and Kei against Izuru, that the first may be the boy's mother or sister or something highly unlikely its flame? Both Izuru not being genetically identical to a normal person, you may grow old in a different way! Who knows ...

Wow that explanation from Theoria. Wulgaru sent their genes throughout the universe. Everyone is the same as Wulgaru. Reminds me of Gundam AGE : the whole Vegan situation. They were considered 'Aliens."

Theoria and Izuru must be brother and sister.

Izuru and Tamaki's test results skyrocketed. Suruga being third and Kei and Asagi having the lowest score.

Team Rabbits head to Mars.

So the Wulgaru has 5 pilots to go against Team Rabbits:
Izuru vs Jiart
Asagi vs Juniichi-san VA ( Tall blonde Wulgaru)
Kei vs Purple hair Wulgaru
Suruga vs Sickly one( comic relief Wulgaru)
Tamaki vs Short Blonde Kid ( Same as above)

( I might switch Suruga and Tamaki's matches but... I leave it as it is.)

Informative episode!!!

A lot of details and the origin of the Wulgaru was explained quite specifically. I didn't expect humans to be created by them and were sent away for gene developments. I guess the Wulgaru are trying to survive using their own ways. Theoria being against this along with her mother was expected which explains why she provided information and data on the AHSMBs. Wulgaru seem to have an internal way of dealing with certain things with Jiart referring Izuru as his 'lamata' and seems to respect the earthlings for entertaining him and has high expectations from them.

Izuru in particular was very excited to learn the truth and is progressing and developing the most to the JURIA system and seems to be physically and mentally well as well as Tamaki as the two were proactive during their training. Kei seems to wary of Izuru's attention to Theoria and seems to be jealous in my opinion. I wonder what past Theoria and Izuru have though as this has sparked my interest. It ends with a Wulgaru craft being located on Mars and I'm guessing Team Rabbits will be sent on a reconnaissance mission to search for the craft for more details.

Looking forward to the next episode!!

5/5

It may not have actions like last episode, but this episode proved to be very informative. Good to know we got more about Theoria, and her assistant, also her link with Izuru telling they were once 'close friends'. I'm getting even more curious about their past. Kei is seriously jealous which made me smile. Knowing that she may have found a rival for Izuru's feelings. I find Tamaki funny but not annoying.

It makes sense why their called team rabbits being a experiment. Not a surprise there since their genes are genetically modified, their memories erased and AHSMB Julia system is the first time used on them that leaves a lot of room for improvement.

Things are getting more interesting now. I'm very curious about Izuru and Theoria's past a lot more than before.

ok first of all, TL;DR wall of text munch?

second of all, what is so wrong with the assertion this anime makes? this is in fact one of the many theories of the source of life on earth, though not this specific. nothing miraculous about it. it does not need to conform to known science since the science that we do know is pathetically limited this explanation is as good as any. it just so happens we put more credence on scientific findings that are derived using the scientific method. i would argue that those who have a problem with the anime's explanation do not have a sufficiently open mind to even consider it a possibility.

as for your farmer argument, if your cow or goat screamed "help me help me, why are you doing this to me" every time you went to slaughter it, chances are eventually someone would question that practice. in some cultures, eating dogs or cats is not particularly frowned upon, but in western societies where those animals are pets...we have an aversion to that practice. some people might even take issue with eating a rabbit or duck.

Well that's a good enough explanation for why the Wulgaru look just like humans. Made me think of Mass Effect or *shudders* Prometheus. I appreciate how this show hasn't taken long to give some answers to some of its more basic questions. There does seem to be some love geometry going on, too. I approve. It will definitely add some drama to battle, since the machines can behave wildly depending on the pilot's mental state. Also, it will be interesting to see who each of these elite hunters choose as their prey among the Fail Five.

So the Wulgaru are biologically waning for some eason, and they have to create isolated environments by populating planets and developing species that adapt to their environment there, then they kill these species to "absorb" the powers and adaptations they acquired over successive generations. A bit confusing, but props for innovation.

All the jealousy in this episode is hilarious. Depending on how you interpret things, there could be some form of love dodecahedron between Izuru, Kei, Teoria, Daneel, Asagi and Tamaki; with varying degrees of gravity to them and no obvious requital from any party.
