THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- That was a very nice episode, I like background information. The scenes when the old woman snapped were very nicely done. 8/10 |

Kino's so strong to be able to fight her back... Nice background story, although I think some of the stories in the series are much more better, lol! |

I liked this "movie." (More like slightly longer episode! But hey, more Kino is more Kino) The climax was definitely Kino's encounter with original Kino's mom. That's got to be so depressing for poor Kino to have to go through that, but she's so strong - Kino is AWESOME. I would have liked to learn a bit more about Shishou though, having her do something other than just train Kino. |

This was definitely one of my favorites from the Kino series. I like Kino's backstory a lot. Oneiros212 said: I don't think so. The people said that the woman had learnt of her son's death several years ago. I don't think it was that long ago that Kino died. Was that woman really the original Kino's mom? |

I didn't really enjoy it all that much, but it was okay. I may like it more if I watch the TV series.. I'll give it a try sometime. |

It probably wasn't Kino's mother. Teacher heard of this woman's madness from the couple and decided it would be a good test for Kino while also solving the problem without abandoning her heritage. It's quite obvious the woman is mad by her gestures and long pause on answering her own son's name. |

A beautiful back-story for Kino. I haven’t watched the full TV series, so I’m probably missing a lot, but I’m surprised with the deepness of the plot and the quality in general; it just gave me more reason to begin watching the series. The animation is wonderful, as well as the backdrop art, and makes me feel nostalgic. I can’t get enough of it. |
I think, then procrastinate. Therefore, I am. |

I was finally able to get a hold of this from a friend and am happy to finally watch it. In the series, Kino is very skilled in fighting and practices everyday. I often wondered how she acquired these skills and this short movie answered that question. It was also awesome to see Kino's first journey and how close it became to being her last. The crazy old woman who kills travelers left a bad feeling in my gut after she died. I was worried that she did something to the tea after she had that freak out when hearing her son's name. The original Kino was probably her son since she had that strong reaction upon hearing it, but we'll never know for sure since none of the town's people mentioned her true son's name. All in all, this short movie was really enjoyable. It gave us a little background on what happened after she ran away from home. If anyone was a fan of the original series, they should check this out for sure. If you haven't seen the series, I would put this off till later. 9/10 |

Mini Kino is kawaii :3 even with a gun obviously. The other gun used during this episode looked pretty damn epic though. Overall nice back story with the smooth OST and OP song. I enjoyed it. 7/10. |

Maybe I should have watched the series first. When it mentioned the other Kino it was a little confusing. I wish I could have seen what this Kino said to her parents and how the other Kino died. Totally off topic but now Im in the mood for hamburgers. |

I hoped she wouldn't try to kill Kino. And then she tried. Reminded me of the episode where a woman killed an ex-criminal to avenge her husband. |

Awww girly Kino is so cute! I just wanna give her a hug! ♥ ♥ ♥ WHOAAAA I THOUGHT THIS WAS GONNA BE NICE AND RELAXING SUDDENLY KILLER BITCH HAD TO WALK RIGHT IN! Boy was that scene scary. HOLY SHIT KINO'S A MURDERER! We got to see how Kino became the tomboy that she is. While not as good as the original series, this was a nice little movie. I still wish I could give Kino a hug... :((((( 7/10 |

I really love subtle foreshadowing even a 29 minute show like Kino no Tabi is able to do! I was wondering how the coin falling shooting was really important or was it just to hone her reflexes? Nicely, shishou put the coin as a lucky charm in her sleeve and it proved to save Kino's life! Anyone else, felt an uncanny similarity b/w the Kino's mother and Shishou? Must be the blue eyes and same hair colour effect I guess? I would have loved if the mother turned out to be shishou's real mother XD But I guess I can cast away that tinfoil theory as she screamed "musko" which means male son :/ If this theory would be true it would make more sense why she kept refusing request from townsfolk on not killing her. |

No, you shouldn't. If you did you wouldn't know who kino is (the other one) and consequently you wouldn't be immersed in the plot at all. |

I guess her master "tricked" her in a way xD It all ended well I guess Though it must be a pretty traumatizing experience for Kino |

That was a great background story and as always I loved watching Kino. That kino is strong to have resisted the drug for a few minutes before shooting that woman. |

Was kind of surprised, this was like 30 minutes. Since Myanimelist calls it a movie. Really dug it though. Finally learned some interesting details about Kino's master. Got to see cutesy long haired Kino training. The set up to payoff of the coin dropping was pretty damn cool just by itself. And it continued the story of the original Kino in an interesting and natural way. While still leaving certain parts ambiguous. I loved the crazy old lady. Realized at a certain point she was probably just crazy. And not Kino's mother. But I didn't realize she was a mass killer. I think as a prequel this may leave some people underwhelmed. As another story set in the Kino universe though. It's damn near perfect. |
