Artwork is important. But execution is more important.
About ratings:
10: Irrational Love. There is nothing you can say that would faze my enjoyment of this show. Shows that are rated as 10 not only have excellent execution but a deep emotional connection with me. These are shows that I'll look back on fondly as more than just a show.
9: A Masterpiece. The only thing preventing me from rating these shows a 10 is that they don't hold any personal meaning to me, however I can see why they might to others. Shows in this category are the best of the best.
8. A Well Executed Story. This category is for unambitious shows that fulfill their fullest potential or wildly ambitious shows that fall just slightly below their full potential. There is nothing wrong with being excellent but not the best.
7. An Overall Success: These shows succeed in spite of major flaws. Unlike the shows above, the enjoyment of the show isn't enough to entirely cover up its flaws. Usually these shows are mostly entertaining but I can't help but be occasionally nagged by its flaws while watching it.
6. A Mixed Bag. These shows' flaws aren't just nagging at me, but are elephants in my mental room that more than occasionally walk in front of the screen. This category is the cutoff point of where entertainment gained from the show still outweighs any negative emotions.
5. The Average. Most shows will end up here. These shows are about even on the scale of entertainment vs. annoyance. It's the middle digit so its neither good nor bad.
4. The Annoying. For categories under 5, I associate them with increasingly negative emotions. For 4s, its usually annoyance, because I can see how this show could be good if given better writing or execution. I'm still willing argue with people who like these shows because I wanted to be enjoy these shows.
3. The Terrible. I'm actually angry at these series, usually because of its terrible writing. There is so much that is wrong with these shows that it would take a long essay to address all of my grievances with these shows.
2. The Disgusting. I've given up on these shows out of disgust. These shows are so pathetic that I don't want to waste my time explaining why they are bad. I honestly wouldn't want to talk to you if you thoroughly enjoyed these shows because there is no room for discussion.
1. The Nonexistent. I have no show in this category because it would be the opposite of my criteria for a 10, a show that I hate to the point where it has defined me personally. There is no show worth hating so irrationally because the ultimate goal of shows is enjoyment. Its fine for fiction to positively define you but there is no point in the opposite.
