Game producer Kojima Hideo and Shikura Chiyomaru (the President of MAGES. and the original planner of Steins;Gate game) officially announced in HideRadio that they are working together to produce a new adventure game on consumer game consoles. Its anime adaptation has already been planned. The game is scheduled to be released in 2012 following Robotics;Notes.

The protagonist is a 17 year old boy and Kojima wants to describe the development of the character by a train of events and accidents which are directly connected to the real life instead of jumping into a fantasy world. Shikura thinks it'll be easier to introduce the game to North America and Europe with anime and manga than promoting the game itself.

Wait I'm confused... what is this game / anime about? Is there even a title out yet?

I wasn't aware of Robotics;Notes. Gotta add that to my to-play list for sure.

Other than that, I'm really happy about the news. More games by the people of Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate is fantastic! And the director of MGS? HOLY FUCK YES! Its marvelous that they are planning for international release as well. They know people outside Japan like it --- oh that's wonderful, indeed.

I have´nt played any of his games outside the MGS franchise. Nothing can go wrong if its the hands of Kojima, Hideo but The Raiden spin-off has´nt come out and hes now working on something else :/ sad face.

..so there has already been a Steins;Gate game?

You do know that the anime was based on the original game, right...? Right? Please tell me you knew this. Don't break my hopes of there being too many ignorant people once again.

So instead of making interactive movies he'll split it into an anime and game?

Should be really interesting. I've only watched Steins;Gate which was amazing overall. I've heard that the VN for Steins;Gate was even better, along with Chaos;Head being good too. Although I heard they slaughtered the anime adaptation for that.

Please, don't. Not another one of these..

I can only hope Robotics;Notes will be an improvement, though I don't expect much.

Poor thing. Sorry Scorchy XD.
Well, since it's related to Steins;Gate, we can't say it's something bad, let's just pray the 17 old boy isn't in some kind of harem.

..some people might need an explanation.
Because every fucking anime thing now MUST HAVE damn teenage protagonist.

Whatever anyone said, Kojima is genius at making military anime games like MGS series (which I personally consider the best game series in existence) had older and mature characters, and he should just stay with them.

We have 17 year old main male protagonists more than enough.

So after reading this am I the only one that now has a mental picture of a 17 year old version of Snake facing off against like 7-10 metal gear units with Okabe standing ontop of them all doing his mad scientist laugh, holding a Dr. Pepper, and looking just completely badass? That srsly just poped up in my head after reading the whole description....I really dont know but w/e I'll give this a watch.

Well considering his games lately have been nothing but movies with sparse interactive cut scenes, he should just make anime.

also prepare for a script that consists of nothing but sudo philosophical techno babel verbal diarrhea
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, it doesn't laugh or cry..... All it does from dusk till dawn is make the soldiers die.

not the first time for him, MGS franchise is an example of that.

Hideo Kojima working on an Anime? That's like Hayao Miyazaki working on a game. That'd never hap- Oh, you say that it is indeed happening and that's what this thread is about. You also say that The Level - 5/Studio Ghibli collaboration Ni No Kuni, is in fact a game being worked on by Miyazaki?
Excuse me while I go have my heart explode. My body can't take this much awesome!

Over dramatic-ness aside, it'll be a huge disappointment if this doesn't turn out to be the type of work such a name should create.
