As of right now, chances for an english dub at all are very, very slim to non-existent (in other words, don't get your hopes up). Because not only is Geneon USA gone now (the ones who originally dubbed it), but Funimation (the company distributing the series now) hasn't really been picking up any of the sequels for any of the Geneon series they picked up, and if any company at all picks up the upcoming Black Lagoon OVA, it would be Funi. Shakugan no Shana being an example of one such series, which is also a former Geneon title. Funi has been distributing the first season and first OVA, but they have no plans of doing the 2nd season/movie/newer OVAs. Fate/Stay Night and Zero no Tsukaima are two more examples. As Funi has no plans of picking up the new Fate movie at this time or the later seasons of ZnT. Perhaps it will be different with Black Lagoon, who knows. As I'm really hoping for a dub myself, but only if the get the same cast back together that they had in the dub for the TV series. (As I actually really liked the dub, which is rare for me to say as I usually don't like dubs and prefer subs.) Even if there will be no dub, i'll be happy if it even gets on DVD here in the US at all at this rate. |

| I agree I found that Black Lagoon was one of the few anime's where i liked the dub more than the anime version.....which is redonculously rare!!!! But the voice cast just kicked ass thats why... i thought it was made in america the first time i saw it!!! Its my favorite series and it needs the cast back...or YOU WANNA DIE BENNY!!!! not really... :) |
| It would be a smart move to dub this anime... Most people say "Dub is better then sub/Japanese!" for Black lagoon which seems odd because it's the other way around for most people... I swear they need to dub it... Helps it was dubbed in Vancouver! Which makes me more happy personally! If they don't dub there will be A LOT of disappointed people, mainly me and my friend. If it isn't dubbed I'll just settle with the damn manga... Once that's finished! *sigh* *Edited* Well... I have nice info, Geneon USA just produced it... and gave it to Oceans Group to dub then they went under, that is Geneon USA and FUNi picked it up for producing... So to be honest "The dub group is still there" so there's a higher hope for it to be dubbed... and just because FUNi isn't doing sequels or other seasons doesn't mean they wont do it... |

| I can't believe all the fanboying over Black Lagoon in English. This is the most overrated dub I've ever heard. Problems with Black Lagoon in English: 1. Brad Swaile as Rock constantly fluctuates back and forth: some times he can be great, other times downright horrible... 2. Although Revy was consistent, it got old just hearing tons and tons of f-bombs thrown in. 3. Balalaika had a Russian accent for precisely one line in the whole series. Why not the whole series? If they'd kept the accent, it would've been twice as good. It also doesn't help that the English script eliminated all the Russian she spoke that was present in the Japanese version. That annoyed me. 4. Roberta sounded so sleepy almost 75% of the time she spoke, until she got into the fistfight with Revy. Boring. 5. The yakuza arc, oh God, the yakuza arc. Ginji and Yukio were absolutely horrible. Plus, I don't get why the English script changed the dialogue to make Ginji fluent in English. The whole point of all of his and Revy's dialogue is that they DON'T understand each other. Unless they're pointing their weapons at one another. The lack of a dub isn't gonna kill me. |
| If it does there would likely be VA replacements (There is NO ONE else who could voice Dutch, and Balailika so perfectly for a replacement. Laura Bailey could make a good Revy based on this 1-22 of the first seconds. |

Terrible is a stretch, but I agree that Revy and Rock both had far superior voice actors in the Japanese version. On the other hand, just about every other voice in the dub was an improvement over the original (especially Dutch, Benny, and the various mob bosses) and it removed all the godawful Engrish from the Japan arc. |
| The only voice I like better in English is Mr. Chang. I think his Japanese VA is a bit too old. |
| well i never watchd it in jap until now since this ova aint dubbed, n i can honestly say dub is better. revy sounds...like a sleepy retard, dutch...i cant put my finger on it but it just sounds wrong, rock was ok, n i think a better voice for benny would b Shinichiro Miki (urahara from bleach) but i probly cant wit til next year for dub so guess ill deal with it, then rewatch it |

| The group that did this job, did it fabulously. Watched the little extra that came with DVD on about how they did BL dub, people was really dedicated. Specially producer and director. Genon did a nice job on dubs for Shakugan no Shana too, think its almost sad they gave up. We are just a bunch of faggots for not supporting them, or they are a bunch of faggots for not changing their marketing model. Go figure... I still want my dub Fabiola. |

Geneon has not given up on Shana, they just recently co-oped license Season 2, Movie 1, and the OVAs with FUNimation. |

| Hope this gets dubbed with the original cast. I don't know how much Balalaika is in Roberta's Blood Trail, but her dub voice is irreplaceable. Didn't care for Rock's VA, but everyone else in the series is stellar. |

| I REALLY hope Funimation is able to get the original cast to reprise their roles. In my opinion, Black Lagoon had one of the best English dubs I've ever heard! Every character fit, they didn't sidestep using accents (which many dubs often do) and it was superbly directed! And while I generally like most of Funi's dubs, I just don't think their talent pool can ascend past what Ocean Group produced. Because when they're on their A-game, they're unmatchable. I could only imagine what Honey & Clover and Monster would've sounded like if only Viz gave them recording rights. |
