This episode was just hysterical, the absurd escalation of events was just a blast to watch. all the different factions was just genius.

Jizzy as you would call yourself because youre a dick The most butthurt award goes to you And clearly you havent watched that many shows thats why you cant determine if a show is unique or not Or maybe you're just a child who likes common stuffs where hero saves the day and guys gets all the girls. Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

This episode was the work of a genius, seriously. My favorite comedy episode of Patlabor so far, together with the bathhouse episode and the Shanghai restaurant episode.

This is so OBVIOUSLY one of the Oshii episodes of this OVA. It totally reeks of him :)

I thought the same. There was a similar episode in Urusei Yatsura where a beauty contest resembled the Sengoku/Warring States period of Japan.

The episode was named after the event in Miyazaki's Nausicaa? Could Chief Sakaki's authoritarian workplace attitude be a metaphor about Oshii's criticism of Miyazaki's workplace authoritarianism? Loved all the references there too (even The Red Spectacles!!)

I know this episode is inspired by the Japanese leftists groups of the 70s but it's also a perfect summary of the Chinese cultural revolution.
