The CIS operatives have sensed that S9 was asking and discovering too much information.

Because of this, Togusa would have to bear the brunt of Gouda's ire in the episodes to come.

as much as i like Togusa and his drive towards his duty, he was unbelievably careless and borderline crazy with the way he handled himself throughout the entirety of this episode. his approach to finding the truth was a lot more covert during the first season; now it just seems like he doesn't care for his life and, in regards to this episode, the lives of others as well.

hopefully i'm overreacting and he doesn't get too carried away... i'd rather not see him die -_-"

I really like Togusa as a character. These kinds of episodes are great for me.

However, I do feel bad for the wife, especially at the end.

Togusa is always a great detective, but two innocent people probably died because of his investigation.

So an organisation was using an underground nuclear central unit. There is also weird men in black that make people dissapear. I wouldn't be surprise to learn that shit face guy is implicated.

5/5

Episode disconnected at first sight from the main theme, but it can not be.
Linear plot with no frills, Togusa a narrative that shows a little too reckless, he took in a sense the case lightly, the foundations for the future are good if there will be a further development of the facts just narrated.
Drawings not bad, animations and scenarios rather good.
I give full marks because there is the possibility of further development of the matter told today.

I've finally picked up the series again after dropping it while it was originally airing (I can't remember why I dropped it) and completely forgetting about it. After 5 days I've been able to watch the movie, Stand Alone Complex and now I just finished watching episode 6 of 2nd gig.

All I can say is that Togusa is by far the character I hate the most in the series. Here are the reasons why:

1) While he was the one who was able to follow-up on the Laughing Man case in Stand Alone Complex (by asking the Major to allow him to dig deeper on his hunch), he was also the only one who was assigned to the lab / institution where he met the Laughing Man in the first place. The case is the same for this episode (2nd gig episode 6): Prime Minister needed protection so everyone else were busy.
Some people are saying he's a great detective but to be honest he is only able uncover the important information because he is always the one assigned to the cases tied to the major plot. The writer / directory probably made it this way so that he had a "reason" for being on the team despite being the "most human".

2) He is stupidly reckless and well... simply stupid which is first seen when he got the Vaccine list in season 1. He did not even bother to try to contact the Major / the Chief for back-up when the place was being assaulted and then he left the guy who had the list to try to run away by himself (he knew that the attackers were being systematic yet he didn't even bother to think of the possibility that there were bad guys coming from / guarding the stairwells as well). Same thing happens in this episode. He goes in without back-up (he even goes far enough as to forget that Tachikoma was with him despite the Chief clearly telling him that Tachikoma will be his back-up) despite: 1. hearing about the description of Goda from someone he was questioning, 2. hearing about the story from the kid about him being chased and his co-workers being caged up, 3. seeing all the security around. He also stupidly brings a civilian with him. Luckily, he gets saved by Tachikoma. Sadly, his stupidity doesn't end there. Despite clearly being seen by the security around the place he investigated and despite knowing that the case he was investigating was about a guy who was murdered in a way which was made to look like an accident, he decided to leave the Fiancee alone, just like how he asked the guy with the list to escape by himself. The Fiancee getting bagged / killed at the end of the episode wasn't shocking at the very least.

3) First episode of the season, he voices his complaints to the Major regarding new recruits, stating that not many people could do what they do. It's ironic since he's probably the least useful of the bunch. Like I sstated above, some people might argue that he was the one who made the breakthroughs but it's because he was the only one in the position to do so.

4) Basically, from what I've watched here are the areas where Togusa ranks top / bottom:
Top ranked - recklessness/carelessness/suicidal tendency, luck in terms of being saved / helped in the last moment and in terms of being assigned to the cases which lead to a breakthrough, chances of causing the death of other people
Bottom ranked - combat capabilities

I've watched a lot of different series and this is probably the first time I've had to pause an episode so much because of how stupid a male character was being (usually I pause because of female characters being outrageously stupid / dramatic / etc. Some examples of characters in recent series being Rayet of Aldnoah/Zero and 5 of Zankyou no Terror)

Oh well, just a rant post. I guess my dislike for Togusa finally reached the boiling point.

He's the pure-policeman of the group, he's the dude who gets the most 'detective' work and chases up leads and stuff :P It's his thing I guess. Rest are more spec-ops orientated.

Was the Tokyo situation ever explained in the previous season? It's been a long time since I watched it, so I don't remember anymore.

This episode was... kind of weird. Togusa managed to find the girl just as she was about to get assaulted by random nobodies. Then there was that heavily guarded area that happened to have a super secret entrance nobody knew about. And of course, Tachikoma just happened to find them in the nick of time... somehow. Is this episode going to have a follow up, or are they just going to end this story like this, with a random group just doing whatever they want and covering everything up?

Everybody feeling bad about the wife while forgetting about the poor guy who helped them. Black suit guys were watching them when they split ways and probably killed him too.

I kinda miss the more thought provoking stand-alone episodes that truly fleshed out the setting/characters in season one but oh well.

This episode was a bit iffy due to narrative reasons but I'll let it slide.

Not the wife :(

This episode just like from season 1, saving the trouble for now..then go boom in the later episodes
Made me so curious what's with those men in black suits

That was stupid of Togusa to leave that lady alone like that, especially given what happened to her husband its only natural she'd get canned too, (also the guy who lead them there got eliminated by the looks of it, his picture was in the newspaper like he was missing or dead) , especially since they went so far in to investigate that place that was clearly heavily guarded even just looking from the outside.

I guess here is what he should have done: Should have just asked the dude for directions and not made him come all the way very close to the site that he escaped from. Should have sent the lady home and NOT brought her with him (especially after the story the dude told Togusa! Dude was the last escaped survivor from those workers =.= ) And then he should have waited and asked section nine to help him out later to investigate the place .

Feel bad for the wife and the last survivor guy. Even still, these Togusa episodes are still always fun to watch at least he seems to always stumble on crazy shit.

How about those CIS men in black, though, leaving her cell phone on the ground?

And not that Togusa calling Aramaki at the end affected anything, but why does anyone ever update team members on an open case through voice in a public area? I'd assume surveillance could be anywhere.

Hey just heard of some fishy facility that tricked people into hard laboring for some cheap ass payment, and what's more, some people even got locked up and those attempting to run away will get chased down like rabbit, but guess what, let's just drag a completely unarmed civilian deep into this to see what they up about, and ofc don't forget to not report anything to the boss or the team.

That's not the end of it, even after witnessing their power, I'm talking about fucking mobile gundam suit shit here, the very same ones that almost fucked over the team's powerhose last season (Makoto and Batou), and guess what, let's just leave said unarmed civilian alone without any sort of consideration for worst case scenario, even when you have clearly seen some suspicious lurking niggas around earlier. H A H A H A.

Apart from a bit of teasing for the grand scheme of the upcoming major event, this episode basically went full dumb shit mode LOL.

Togusa is a great investigator, but sometimes he can get a bit careless. He doesn't have a full prosthetic body like Batou or the Major and could easily get wacked here. Not to mention that he put a civilian in mortal danger.

The big bad from last ep got isekaied offscreen, Togusa got over his fear of radiation real fast and put a witness in mortal danger, and the daring rescue was also skipped for budget and plot. 4/10 - They could've at least put her in a pod or a tracker on her with all the shady peeps stalking her about her husband's blackmail. And why not use camo if you're gonna trespass? Even the big bad guy had it so i guess they'd be prepared for that.
