| Oh come on...it's obvious this episode was a commentary on how different the two civilizations are and how someone along the way must have lied or brainwashed the Zentrandi into believing love is evil and all that jazz. It's obvious where this is going in the grand scheme of things I think. |

| Wow that was a weird, shocking and funny first contact in a normal human sense eh? LOL Despite the societal difference and the obvious culture shock, at the very least they can understand the same language thanks to the very convenient translator. I laughed at Max's disguise and how effective it was, wait did he just went into an alien toilet first? XD Anyway Minmay' s actually missing Hikaru which I found nice for a change. |

| No, I had some choppy moments too. I think they must be saving up for the battle scenes, which is fine by me. Anyways, the robot on the toilet was superb. Just imagine being the alien, and opening the bathroom door. Yeah! |

| Yeah :D I loled at his disguised mecha, but it worked somehow. Hikaru is fortunate for saving Misa earlier or he would have to kiss a guy. The woman has a deathwish, I'm sure of it... Of course, he wouldn't be in this mess if not for Misa in the first place. Fortunately, a kiss was enough for the big guys and they didn't have to show how to make love :3 |

| No, she's the superior officer so she's taken charge of the situation and is pushing the points to gather information from the Zentraedi without giving them anything in return. She's also still responsible for protecting the lives of her subordinates (slacker and horndog though they may be). While a first kiss with Hikaru may not have been on her agenda, it did yield extremely valuable information. Now they just have to get back to Earth with it. We've also found out that there is a way for the Zentraedi to be shrunk down to human size, and a hint that the reverse may have happened back when that race was engineered. And we've also confirmed that most Zentraedi aren't the sharpest tools in the woodshed, since Misa was able to seize control of the situation from the leaders of the two battle-fleets and the archivist/scientist. |

| The close-up on faces of the characters were far prettier than what had been shown up to this episode (if we except the "Minmei watching the sunset" still) but the animation was super choppy at several instances, from the opening action scene to a lot of common scenes. Was this a way to spare drawings or was this the Itano style I saw in some Gundam scenes? Sad to see the young and innocent Hikaru being robbed from his first kiss (idem for Minmei xD) by the obasan. "My boyfriend is a pilot" is a decent wartime song to motivate the troops, I guess. Why is there no full version (by Ijima/Minmei) to hear on YouTube? -_- 5/5 Another great episode, making the scifi aspect exciting (and a bit mysterious). @CodeBlazeFate It is absurd how many people on this thread laughed at the encounter (of the third type) that was the high peak of the episode. Is the point of the episode (titled "Encounter") so easy to miss? Also, are those three guys who intercepted the broadcast then came to the meeting the ones who will be "micronized" later ? | This was like something out of a Star Trek episode. That interrogation was actually quite fascinating. Didn't think the show would have some actual interesting sci-fi, after all the b-movie goofiness we have seen until now. |

| "My boyfriend is a pilot" "Private concert" Can't be more obvious, Hikaru you dense mofo. I don't blame him, I was dense too at his age. Minmay's debut was good, cute song. Anyway, this is probably my favorite episode so far. Lot's of interesting and hilarious things happened. Lot of insight, foreshadowing and mystery when it comes to Zentradi. Can't wait to learn more about them and their origin. I guess them encountering "Protoculture" probably awakes their long hidden and suppressed instincts, like love, lust and other emotions, thus making them unable to fight like they have been for whole of their lives. |
| Hayase was surprised to know that Zentradi know human language, even though she was listening to their message in the previous episode. Also the camera in her chest (lol) was not always drawn but who cares. I'm nitpicking :p Destroying the planet looked like something inspired by Star Wars. Such a shame Zentradi don't have a giant space gun :D PROTOCULTURE! xD The interrogation scene was hilarious and interesting. The thing about love and birth gives me some Yamato flashbacks. Anyway, I wonder where do Zentradi come from. Are they an artificially engineered species? Minmay is a nice singer and dancer! It's a shame she had to perform knowing that Hikaru was absent.
