Fantastic ending even if the conclusion felt a bit too long. Nevertheless, FREEDOM is a great OVA and one of the best SF/adventure shows I've seen in a while.

How did you get the "not yet released" copy? Is there any way to get the subtitles from that copy -- I can't find subs for episode 7 anywhere!?

Hum I work in the animation sector, so I watched this DVD for my work ;)

I don't think any subtitle is out for now, but it won't be long until they are done I guess, fansubbers are fast as hell !

The last episode was released today and while not perfect it was still a great ending to such a wonderful series.

I got mine from the Fansubber's IRC channel, but it should be up for torrent very soon.

Who, on his sanity, would put Kazuma in such a high position in just 2 and a half years? o.O

Also, poor Ricky! The kid is clearly lacking calcium. He didn't grow up at all in nearly 5 years O_O

I didn't like how they didn't grow up in the course of 4 years, but what a good ending, I really enjoyed it. Glad I watched it.

Did anyone notice how several people have colour based names like Blue Earth, Brown and Ao (japanese for blue)... sort of feels like the KLMN characters from Death Note, all along a theme.

Man this is such a let down great concept tho maybe I'm just so disappointed in the characters but still they did a pretty good job for 7 episodes .

Great conclusion to a awesome sci-fi series. :) I love the concept and it was executed really well. Eden and Earth blasting off together to colonize Mars was the best way to end it ... humanity reunited and continuing to reach for further and further horizons. You could probably do a spin-off set in the same world hundreds or thousands of years in the future and see similar personalities, always seeking to explore and colonize further in the name of Freedom.

I'd give it a 8/10, 5/5 for the finale.

Great final episode this extra long episode made it perfect to round of the whole story, this was an amazing ride with a great and compact concept with an interesting development and nice cg art that looked great for being 3D! They could make a sequel on this that they would go to Mars but well that would perhaps ruin the rest! Still an amazing short Anime totally loved it! 9/10

Next stop, Mars! LOL Well that was the original mission and intention for the Freedom series anyway.

I guess Alan died happy knowing Takeru will do what he can with Freedom. I wished he could have come back to Earth and experience it himself though. RIP Alan, we will miss you!

This felt something of a cross between Turn A Gundam and Terra e... Anyway it's 8/10 from me.

I wish I could have liked this more than I did. I'm normally a big space opera/sci fi guy, but there was something about this show that I just never could embrace. I wonder what it was, I cannot really put into words.

'Moon and Earth. Earth and Moon. We begin by accepting one another.'
That should be personal philosophy of everyone.
Anyway, finale was a bit disappointing, but overall, great Anime. I'll give it 9/10.

That was the worst final fight between Takeru and Kazuma in anime history. I don't get why Takeru took two years to return to earth, so that means it took two years to convince the elders to let the moon and earth to co exist. What's up with his suggestion to go to mars next, I thought Alan died and he was entrusted with Freedom? The ending for me became a mess and wasn't that epic, I imagined Takeru arriving in a Freedom rocket or spaceship carrying some people left in the moon, running towards Ao then get a kiss from her then they utter those cheesy lines "I'm home" and "welcome back". At least that would've been a bit epic, not this considering he traveled 300000 kilometers for Ao to earth, all in all it was a stupid rushed ending.

And as for the animation itself I didn't dig the 3D CGI that was embedded on it, animation felt like Bubuki Buranki, like it wasn't real

6/10.

Good series overall but didn't meet initial expectations. The beginning episodes were great, sort of like a Matrix x Logan's Run. But then the Earth ones were too cheesy and a drag for me until #6. Ending was satisfactory.

I wish they had more worldbuilding for the moon. They say it's a literal paradise but all we see are the kids pod-racing. Do regular people even have regular jobs? All those roads and practically no traffic? Were all the domes on the same side of moon, or did any face the Earth? 100s of octopus robots but for some reason they couldn't remotely close any shutter doors to trap the kids instead of chasing them all over the place?

8 blue marbles /10
