THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I'm relieved to see the description of the "Principle of Nonresistance" group was not censored. Some mass media are supporting their activity in real Japan and there had been a good chance that they erase the description from the anime.
The episode was well organized. Kasahara grew matured in character by the bully in Ibaraki library. It's a shame that the anime end before the final volume "Toshokan Kakumei", but I think they will wrap up the story pretty well.

Another good episode although fairly slow compared to some others. Good development on Kasahara's front also another touching scene with Doujo, the next episode looks interesting.

She is the chief librarian of Ibaraki Library who got conciliated by the "Principle of Nonresistance" group. She deprived the library forces of their arms and let the librarians bully the officers of the library forces.

These two lines made more sense than the whole episode. It seemed kinda jumbled to me. I guess it would make more sense if I had read the books.

The bullying really suck in this one. I will tell one thing here since I am supporting the Task force of the Library Corps section. Those guys of the task force sacrifice way more than any of these half piece of **** would ever even do if they wanted to cause bureaucracy (referring to those guys who bully) never gets better without as much training than the task force in other words they are not ready to risk their lives. So really this pressure is not fair but I get the point that one must solve his things even if the pressure is of a great deal. I still hate bullies!

^Agreed! I was really surprised, especially in the Asian culture :S

Next episode looks like its going to be lots of action, but there's no way that they can tie everything up in just two episodes... especially with regard to Tezuka's brother... another season perhaps?!!

This episode seemed rushed unfortunately, but apart from that very good as always with a great mix of politics and character develomment. Still a bit worried about how they will wrap up things in the end since there's only two episodes left though.

Thanks, I kind of figured it was something like that but was unsure.

It was sort of wierd how all the librarians were instantly afraid of Kasahara when she threatened them. Why didn't she just threaten them earlier?

argh, this series is too short! There should be more. >o<
The scene with Kasahara's mom was really strong, I'm glad she resolved things with her family in the end.
It's gonna get busy there in the next episode, judging from the preview...

When you're overcome by emotions, you don't think clearly. This is especially true for Kasahara, who's a naturally hot-blooded type. For the first part, she was too busy fueling her own anger, thinking about direct retaliation, and holding herself back, to see the other kinds of power she had over them. After the incident, she'd managed to release a lot of that frustration, and a cooler head realized she had a way to hit them were it really hurt.

She didn't want to make any trouble for the Ibaraki defense forces. Remember when Kasahara saw their trashed rooms? She wanted to immediately confront the affairs girls, but the two younger girls asked Kasahara not to make trouble for them and just put up with the nastiness until the exhibition. If she had caused any trouble between the affairs and defense departments, Kasahara wouldn't have been affected by it because she would be leaving back to Kanto, but the Ibaraki girls would suffer when she left and the affairs girls retaliated. So this was holding her back when she would have fought back. Plus, she had her orders to stay out of trouble.

I really liked the drama in this episode, seeing the friction between the beaurucratic affairs division who try to appease the Media Improvement forces rather than fight them and the library defense forces who fight them. The Chief Librarian is part of the first group, the nonresistance group, so her policies govern the whole libraries. That's why those girls can be as mean as they are. The defense forces have no power there.

Loved the scene between Kasahara and her mom. I think that was one of the most genuine emotional scenes I've seen in an anime. More honesty than melodrama. Something that audiences can actually relate to. It was kind of shocking when she slapped her mom (respect and all that), but I understood where she was coming from. Her mother was berating her like a child and telling her to drop her work as if she were playing games or smth, but Kasahara takes her work seriously. Plus, she has some pent up anger because she thinks her mother never approves of her. Liked when she stood up to those girls too. And the moments between Tezuka and Shibasaki, also Dojo and Kasahara. They've come a long way. :D Can't wait for the next ep!

Kasahara was awesome as always. Though I half wish she'd followed her first instinct and beaten the girls up. I hate bullies.
I think it's great that she faced her parents and got their approvation, she's come a long way since the beginning of the series.
Mandatory "aww" for the Kasahara/Doujo moment.

Stuff just got deep. From a political and social commentary perspective, I think this was the best episode yet. It showed how a lack of discipline in a military-like setting leads to chaos. I also thought it was very well done how they worked in the scene with Kasahara's parents.

Kasahara sure showed them who's boss :D

I get why the mom's so overprotective of her but isn't Kasahara like 22 years old? I'd probably be really pissed too if my mom interferes with my life like that, not to mention treating me like a kid and humiliating me in public.

Not sure why that was tolerated if that was a huge offense from the beginning . . . I mean if obstructing the defense force's work is practically a crime you would think that the curator would have been fired instantly. Not sure how that library had stagnated like that. Also why didn't the censorship group just burn the place to the ground already? They had like no defense, I thought the libraries needed a huge defensive line or run risk of being destroyed.

Kasahara slapping her mom is one of the best scenes outside of her getting revenge the "professional" way. A true role model.

Kasahara's dad is pretty cool too. He seemed like a real stick-up-his-butt type, but he's pretty chill under it all. Her mom needs some that chill.

Just like how bias affects many men's judgement in the course of history, a simple bias in part on the head of this Library could just mentally affect all of the girl soldiers in this Library. That scene with Kasahara and Dojo was just lovely. Thanks to that she strengthened her resolve - and to be herself. Her coming to terms with her family was the best part of this episode. It just goes to show how a lack of communication results in a big misunderstanding; if only they could just talk and be honest with themselves earlier. Great characterisation in this episode, although lacking in terms of progress and 'urgency' towards the final. I mean - it's the third last episode!

4/5

P/S: Now now, smelling a Hikaru x Kobasaki ship here, don't we? I just hope they don't do the clichéd overused war romance here. PLEASE NO.

That was another great episode, although a painful one to see Kasuhara pushed to the limits like that with the bullying of the female Defense Force members from the administrative staff, even worse for Kasuhara since it became personal for her as those assholes from the administrative department even snitched on her overprotective mother with what Kasuhara really does while being surrounded by weapons and warfare in the library field. That was way too far to go to that extent when it wasn't warranted by any means. Kasuhara was beyond frustrated that she even slapped her own mother when her mother slapped her since she really did want to pursue and commit to what she cares for the most, and have her parents acknowledge and support her instead of embarrass her by forcing her to quit on her dreams. Luckily though, they came to an understanding and through non-violence and the code of conduct with reputations on the line, Kasuhara managed to get her revenge on the girls bullying her and the female Defense Force members got the equivalent treatment as they did in the end.

Couple moments other than her resolving her relationship with her mother that I loved, was how Dojo tried to comfort his subordinate who he clearly knew was undergoing a lot of emotional stress that he can't relate with, but wants to be there for her no matter what, even letting her cry on him while patting her. He's really grown fond of his subordinate I have to say. Plus, the other moment with Shibasaki cheering on for Tezuka and wanting him to make it safe was cute too, they've grown nicely together chemistry wise since the whole ordeal with Tezuka and his brother.
