Inori is an interesting one. She has the best look as a witch imo. She also holds the title of witch of wisdom so that's something to think about.

It didn't really take long for Inori to realize about Meg's limited life span. I guess at this rate, Meg is going to meet a lot of characters in this show associated with witches.

Meg's reactions were so amusing again. She's really into girls btw. :3

Very wise witch has arrived. I like Inori's character design. She and Meg look indeed like sisters.

Expecting to see some funny interactions between Meg and Sophie next time.

Great ep as usual. People wrote this off as boring after those great first two eps are tripping. Much lighter ep this week than the tearjerkers in the first two thankfully. Inori is so pretty, but goddamn girl how you gonna be this fine and not bathe properly, Meg saying she stank got me fucking 😭 took off them shoes and it was damn near a terrorist attack lmaooo

If Faust is Meg’s grandmother/mother figure, Inori is the perfect older sister who can relate to Meg better and be a confidant when she’s not comfortable telling Faust something. Their bonding in this one was really sweet and it came at a perfect time since Meg had started giving up on staying alive. Inori reminding her of all the beautiful things in this world she’s yet to see was a touching moment. Hang in there, meg, we’re rooting for you!

Sophie episode next week let’s goo! Liking this little character development arc for Meg. She’s helped a lot of people lately, now it’s her turn to get some encouragement and learn from others. Hopefully she was able to collect some tears in that “several weeks” jump too.. I’m also wanting to learn more about how magic works and this gate opening ritual too so should be a good one.

Well the meeting with Sophie was already clear when she was introduced on the screen so it was only the question when.
But we got introduced to 2 witches this episode while we didn't get any new ones the previous episodes so it's a luxury.
One needs to shower a bit more often tho.

Now we are going somewhere.
Gave it another shot after that masterpiece of an ED last week, and was rewarded with an OK episode.

Still, the writing needs some serious level-up: this week the show was saved by decent comedy, some worldbuilding and the introduction of a couple of interesting characters, but it's far from being stellar.

This week had even more comedy than usual, and very little drama, for once.
Meg and Inori make such a great comedic duo, so many feet jokes haha.
This episode also managed to be kind of poetic at times (when they're watching the nightsky together for example).
The world really seems to be a mix of very modern stuff and magic, interesting.

Next week should also be fun, as Meg will hang around the young and popular 'celebrity' of the seven mages.

For what looks like a character drama/comedy, this anime is putting a surprising amount of effort into worldbuilding and magic systems. Some references to climate change and international consortiums were unexpected.

The conversation under the meteor shower was pleasant and had some substance.

The show is a mix of pleasant-enough bits and pieces, anchored by a quirky and decently-funny protagonist. Sticking with this one.

Dam Inori went full blown Radahn and summoned a shower of comets. On paper it just looked like a pretty sight but when you think about it managing that really puts into perspective how strong the seven sages are.

Also makes you wonder why Faust even took Meg in to begin with, must be something special or some kind of potential within Meg

That was the cutest death threat I've seen this anime season

Those two were separated at birth. Huge "o nechan to imoto" vibes. How chaotic would it be if Meg manages to survive and become her assistant?

@Phantom_Siren652 Those were meteors NOT comets. Comets can last for weeks, meteors only for a fraction of a second. However, there is a strong connection between both, meteors are actually dust FROM comets.

I didn't realize that Meg had given up on collecting the tears of joy but it did make sense considering that she didn't seem to be in any rush to collect some more. Even if Inori has given her motivation to continue collecting tears I don't think she collected any in this episode so at this rate Meg will need to impress a crowd to collect a bunch of tears at once.

Another great ep. really funny, Inori is the perfect Onee-chan figure for Meg.
Sophie probably will become her best friend even if Meg now has a sort of "rivalry-complex" with her. XD

Honestly, this series feels like a knockoff or "budget" version of Kobato, it's got a bottle but with a unrealistic 1000 to collect instead of 100 "emotion things" to achieve/get their goal/wish or "not dying" in this case, and a comedic main character. Honestly it's not a great show so far but it's not bad either, it just feels like a Kobato knockoff with worse & less impactful emotional scenes and more weirdo type humor. At the very least it manages to have the most important thing which is generally being entertaining.

It's still passing the "3 episode test" and I'll probably watch the whole thing, but the show really is rather underwhelming coming from it's premise so far and "knockoff" feeling if you compare with Kobato.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

So, in this episode alone, another four weeks passes... without her even trying for another tear. At this point it's pretty much guaranteed that the end is going to be a grand emotional manipulation to gather the majority that she hadn't collected by that point, or a reveal that she'd been lied to. Either way, meh, done.

She doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to save her own life, also gross. The hot witches stinky feet ruined any chance of liking her, though I am sure quite a few foot fetishists' hearts were a twitter at that opening first person POV scene. :P
Guess we'll see if the quiet witch can help her.

How could Meg not want those yummy feet of Inori on her face? Though honestly, I’d probably stay away too until they didn’t stink anymore. Inori totally lives up to her nickname and seems like a wonderful character—her chemistry with Meg is really fun to watch.

I'm worried that Meg might be running out of time. She’s been stuck inside for around three weeks now, and with another week coming up due to the festival, things aren’t looking too hopeful. At this rate, I’m seriously starting to worry about my girl’s fate.

A genius witch, Sophie, also arrived to sub in for Faust. She’s pretty, but her eyes are just so expressionless—it’s a little eerie.

The show’s surprisingly calm for such a chaotic concept. The episode was good, and we got to see two pretty girls, so I’m not complaining.

MOMMY INORI STEP ON ME PLEASE 🥵

It looks like Meg really doesn't give a fuck about dying, even tho she has decided to complete her mission multiple times in each episode she just keeps wasting weeks like nothing lol

They talk so much about magic power being endless yet they can't remove curses, they still need medics and to develop medicines, they can't even fix normal-ass back pain lmao

Oh, and I found it so dumb at the end, Meg lit the bonfire and the other girl asked her "what are you doing?", is this girl blind or what? loool
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~

This is so good the mixture of fantasy, goofy comedy and theme of mortality reminds me a little of Frieren. Feels in every episode so far and I reckon there are bigger ones to come. Ending song is divine. Love the characters and the whole look of the show. So it's a big YES for me.

With each passing week I grow more and more curious as to how her and Elaina would get along (Crossover special when?).

For some reason I kind of get the feeling that Elaina would look down on her quite coldly, our Meg Raspberry, as a laggard incompetent.

Although this series with her characterization is a little more self-aware than I initially gave (or prematurely denied) it credit for, with that on display this episode. Still probably not rivaling Majo no Tabitabi, but she has a really goofy infectious sense of humor.

I'm honestly glad it's leaning more into its humor, even if in part Meg's tomfoolery and refusal to take things seriously is shown to be a coping mechanism to put off and procrastinate, helping her avoid thinking and talking about difficult subjects like her own unique peril, the general mortality of all things, and the uncertain future. I don't care for most pure comedies (anime or otherwise) because I don't find them very funny and more dull than most other things, but balanced with some drama it's just right, and if a series like this tries to go 100% serious 100% of the time it'll just come off as melodramatic and a pale retread of greater works. Unless it had some masterful writing, which I don't trust it to do.

Of course, a "bit flat reaction" about someone’s future leads to the certainty that they’ll die at age 17, doesn’t it? And I still don’t understand what was so funny and "stupid" about "giving up." I have a feeling there’s a second meaning to the whole "curse" thing… and that I probably won’t like it.

Nevertheless, quite a pleasant episode to watch ;)

So loud and annoying ... Aaaaagggghh! Why do they have make characters like that.

She didn't give up, she was barely trying from the start, but their talk needed more depth and emotion to help her to see she should not give up, but it was rather unimpressive.

This series needs better writing and more logical dialogue.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I still wanna know why she doesn't go to weddings and romance movies to collect the tears of joy. No one has yet claimed that she has to be the cause of the joy.

In a weaker season I could see continuing this, but I think I'm gonna drop. The turn from the emotional collectathon to some world building was an interesting surprise, but the comedy was a miss for me, and I don't really care to see her develop a relationship with Sophie.

@MewsicMagic, I have never heard of Kobato, and seeing as it seems to be a pretty obscure show, not to mention an older one, I doubt most people watching this have seen it. With that context, a "modern" version of the premise is probably fine in a vacuum.

I'll have to check it out, though.

@HajimeNozomiUwU You definitely should, it's not like it looks 1:1 with this show, e,g Kobato isn't a witch or anything. But the similarities, especially with the bottle and needing people's emotions are nearly 1:1 for the most part.

To be fair to this show though it definitely seems to have a slightly different aim/direction than Kobato, with stuff like Meg suddenly finding out she's gonna die and the fact that she has other witches that want to support her. Meanwhile the whole time Meg's long term goal is a generic "I wanna be rich" thing but she has this impossible task that she'll die from and is often trying to escape reality because of it. While Kobato's 100 within a year to get her wish is a much more realistic amount to be possible although she doesn't have a lot of support from others nor does she try to escape reality because of it.
