For me Zoro will always be my favorite out of the 2 and is my top 3 favorites over all. But I'm curious to see everyones opinion on which is their favorite from the rivalry especially after seeing how many people had Sanji as their favorite crew mate out of my last poll!

Sanji… cooler fighting style, funnier character, great backstory and arcs, badass outfit. Zoro is just kinda meh for me, he doesn’t really have any emotion or character imo.

I really liked Zoro pre time skip, but post time skip Zoro doesn’t feel the same to me.

zoro no doubt is a badass character. but comparing sanju with him seems unfair as sanji has always been nerfed (with some exceptions) .

if sanji was just a womanizer and not the biggest simp like denji then i would like him better than zoro for sure. zoro is just badass although he has the weakest backstory of the strawhats. Pre timeskip i would say i liked sanji alot more tho.

Sanji has always been my fav since he appeared! Imo zoro is just an OP swordsman with an exaggerated directionally challenged issue. He's just muscles and power and getting lost and nothing else. Sanji has more depth to his character. People give sanji shit for being a womanizer, yes he likes woman, but he doesn't do anything to women. He's actually a gentleman (with anger issues)

both are my favorites for different reasons
sanji is a lover boy, fucking badass when he locks in , respectful ( somewhat..) towards mainly women, and a great cook overall a really cool character expect the fact that oda kinda ruined him
zoro is overall a badass nothing really bad about his character but i miss when he would get super mad at luffy , crash out and make really stupid jokes. now he’s way more serious but still awesome
both are great and i don’t think it should really be such a big argument

Zoro has cooler moves and is stronger. Also the name "King of Hell" is insanely epic. So I think it's a no brainier.

To be fair though Sanji has a way better backstory.

Matter of preference: I prefer Zoro as he exudes coolness and badassery. A simple character with great power. A reprieve from the well written characters with a lot of backstory. He is one of the few characters where I don't prefer to have an extensive backstory and like to keep the mystery. When he has his moments, he makes it worth for what it is. Sometimes, I just wanna see cool badassery. For me, 'Nothing happened' to Zoro

About Sanji, I was initially put off by his perverted tendencies, especially pre-time skip. But, Sanji is a far more well-written character than Zoro and as I understood more about his character backstory and his motivations post -time skip. I gained a deeper sense of respect to Sanji. I related to him in some sense as he was a king gentleman. In Wano Arc where he fights Queen was the best fight even more than Zoro Vs King where I was able to see Sanji truly face his fears and it was a satisfying and emotional ending. Ever since then, the debate between Zoro Vs Sanji has become more difficult to decide.

But, my preference for Zoro has still not changed but I see Sanji as a character that I can respect and emphasise due to Oda's great characterisation.
