Family themes are really so important in this show, that it's clearly shown again in this episode.

On another note, I find it interesting we got a look at England. Never thought this anime will give us a glimpse at Europe's side but it's refreshing. Another episode of emotions and tears though.

It was really awesome seeing my home country of England get shown and seeing it be such a hotbed of magic. I really wasn't expecting so many emotional scenes this episode but my god it was an emotional roller-coaster.

Boy was this a sad episode. Was just like one emotional sequence after the next. Worst part is I forgot I had a twitch stream open in another tab and when we saw the dead foxes I heard "Welcome to Combo Breaker 2024 Skull Girls Championship!" and jumped outta my chair.

fitting that england is the home of magic, it looked awesome.

while wagen story is nice, I do think it dragged too long now. The time could've been used to show other yokais or show more of bucchio in england.

jiro story was sad, it seems they did loved each other or it was haru who loved him but it never happened just because, those were hard time being hit by earthquakes that much.

Wow, I definitely wasn't expecting such a dramatic episode. Originally not from this series in general, but even after learning that there would be some drama, still at least not to this extent at this particular point in time. I figured they would save things like this for a season/series finale or penultimate episode and finale pairing.

Even though, after what we discovered through a previous episode, this series technically doesn't take place in our world but a parallel universe with a lot of overlapping similarities combined with some big differences, the way the magic and magic-based fauna work in this world reminds me of the way it is in Mahoutsukai no Yome (which, as far as we know, does take place in our world). In that every country around the world, from what we are shown, has its own magical ecosystem and culture rooted in the legends and mythology specific to that land. I wish in these worlds that they'd travel to places like the Arabian peninsula and pal around with some djinn.

The B part of today's episode was really heavy and it's no wonder that Jiro suffered heavy psychological trauma as a result of those heavy experiences.
I want Mutsumi and everyone else to heal Jiro's emitional scars, he deserves to be happy.

that was a selfish request she made of him. i guess she found a person to blame for her losing everyone she cares about: jiro. but she didn't outright tell him that; she just kept telling him he was a liar.

So, from what I got, England in this world is basically like a blend of Hogwarts and actual England. Lol.

And ofc, WWII happened in this universe too, but with the added twist of magic. Major oof for Haru.

As good as this episode was , I feel like we were missing something important that happened in England with Buchio and the Demon King Sanmoto. Where the magic is more powerful than anywhere in the world. Also there is a undercurrent of tragedy in all of this world that I hope will be addressed soon.

Another heavy episode. Guess I was half right, half wrong. Jiro is depressed due to failed promise to the great grandma, but romance was not the reason here. That was one tragic life, and I'm kind of glad Jiro has ptsd about it, instead of being indifferent or stoic all the time. This way he feels more real.

Also, it was nice to see the world outside Japan. This show can potentially have limitless spin-offs.
Also it seems like there was some war after the great earthquake. Alternative ww2 maybe. Would be fun to know how it happened in this world :)

Never imagined a man talking to a Volkswagen Golf could ever make me cry this much. And then the "old one-two", we also get Jiro's backstory with Haru.

Holy cow, do I feel dehydrated.

Very creative to use dragon in place of fighter aircraft during the world war era. We don't exactly see the weapon directly but it doesn't really matter because we know that it causes equally damage to the society just like in our real world and our real war history. Brilliant depiction.

Definitely selfish, but she's just lived through too much to stop herself.

I also think she wasn't exactly blaming Jiro for what happened, directly or indirectly. She was just speaking harshly and "letting loose" towards him because they were so close and she knew Jiro wouldn't think much of it. I've seen this kind of dynamic amongst family members; they still care about each other, but often they just can't help themselves from acting out.

If she blamed anyone, I think it was herself. She obviously did not think she deserved to be mourned and remembered, putting her loved ones through the kind of suffering that she herself is so familiar with. But yeah, it's such a horrible thing to say to someone you leave behind. Understandable, but horrible.

This episode messed me up, but I do wish they didn't tackle both the Wagen-san storyline and Jiro's storyline in the same episode. While I understand that they tackle the same themes, both of them together made the episode relentlessly sad.

Still, it's amazing they tackled the topics so hard and so well. What you say and ask of people when you're facing the end. What you do when your loved ones are. Whether you remember or forget. It wasn't just melodrama to make people cry, going "dying makes me sad."

She needed someone to blame, and Jiro happened to be the nearest one to receive the brunt of her anger and disappointment in herself. She was in denial of blaming herself for all the bad things that happened to her, and to the bitter end she still haven't accepted herself and decided to foist her burden on to the one person who has been there with her from childhood to adulthood.

They really laid it on pretty thick in this episode. It was a tough subject, and Buchiko has been mulling over the inevitable when it comes to his family, but others in the village experienced the same bitterness at some point in their lives.

Buchio being offered by Sanmoto to go to England for a change of pace, and even humans and Yokai have a place there as well. But even then, this change of pace is something that Buchio needs to know as he'll experience more of it going forward, especially between Kazuhiko and Wagen, which the former contemplated death in front of someone who fears death, and the companion that is called on to take care of her husband in her place. A bit of a cruel request, but that's what life and death is for.

Sano and Nakagawa's relationship in school just got forced into a corner where kids are thinking that they're going out, it's the balancing act of keeping it betwen friends and such. But as is with the last episode, it becomes apparent of his close relationship with Mutsumi's great grandma, only offering apologies to Mutsumi over and over. Even in the past, Jiro taking care of the village and kids with Haru, her only being apparent to death where everyone leaves her in one way or another, even with her husband Shozo, not to mention the forest in potential danger everytime till she also contemplates death, even getting herself in one.

Memories will burn a lot for Jiro, not being able to be on either side.

@felixsifuri Without directly touching on this scene, the Japanese may well say aishiteru to close friends or relatives as a very strong and important declaration of feelings. The thing is that ai is love in general, neither romantic nor platonic separately.

And man Jiro's past with great grandma Haru was insane tragic af :(
This series really puts into good use why living longer isn't always necessarily a good thing

Boy, this was a heavy punch in the feels.

On a happier note, I visited a relative of wagen-kun @ Autostadt Wolfsburg (a big exposition and activity site next to the original Volkswagen factory)
