Seems like the Mountain God is the type that takes whatever plan she has and just goes through it on the fly. At least the training was over.

This turned out to be still a very intense episode of action and fighting. They're really pushing guys like Jinka to their limits. The monsters in this episode also seems more fierce than ever, although I'd say the Mountain God is still on a different level.

This is a classic "after training" episode, everything you'd expect from a sudden rise in power. But there's a thing I want to complain. There are so many (hot) male characters yet somehow Tama is the only one training naked? Come on, Shinsuke and Jinka also need to strip! And that father-son dragons too!

Training finished sooner than I thought, but that's fine.

Jinka, who unlocked his fairy eyes, sees through Rinzu's illusion technique and clears his training. Meanwhile, Shinsuke, by chance, has the opportunity to defeat Senya, but he hesitates to take the life of the still-young Senya. Meanwhile, Tama also clears her training, albeit trailing behind Jinka and Shinsuke. What plan did Tama propose to the mountain god, who suggests they should aim for the headquarters of the youkai sooner rather than later?

So Jinka didn't actually defeat her... his charm won her over. Lol. Yep, Shinsuke is definitely going to regret not taking out Senya when he had the chance, especially now that he's just a 'brat'. Anyway, about this Mountain God, wasn't the whole point of the training to, you know, make him strong enough to beat Jinun? Why would she just send him off to fight him immediately? Well, regardless, he ended up facing him in this episode, so sure, why not? Whatever training Tama underwent really paid off though. That attack was insane. Jinka even awakened a sixth tail, although he didn't get to utilize it much since, you know, the Mountain God intervened and defeated them both.

And off our gang goes... but where they're headed is the big question.

Another great ep of Sengoku.
Wasn't expecting them to instantly go right into a full fight and even severely damaging each side.Animation went nuts with Jinka and Mountain Goddess's scene.
Still the one show im surprised so low rated this season.

I'm really liking the background music during fights, it's like traditional Japanese instruments mixed with modern ones.
Oh, five tails now! I guess Jinka's ultimate form will nine tails then.
10 years hoooly. But I guess Tama is kinda like Frieren now.
15:24 金将刃 (konjoujin) - lit. "gold/metal general blade". 金将 (kinshou) - "gold general" is also a piece in shogi, but the characters are pronounced differently, so I don't think it's related.

15:57 五行魂 (gogyoukon) - "five elements soul". 五行 (gogyou) - the five elements (in Chinese philosophy: wood, fire, earth, metal and water); the five phases; wu xing. Also what he said at 15:49 was 木火土金水 (mokukadogonsui) - "wood fire earth metal water". Just something I thought was cool.

16:18 破軍掌 (hagunshou) - "rip/tear/destroy army palm"

Lightning is not included in the five elements, so I guess this and the other ones the author came up with.
17:35 Or a literal, but less cool-sounding translation of 磨海龍塵脚 (wagairyuujinkyaku) - "polished sea dragon defilement leg"

20:36 踊り食い (odorigui lit. dance eat) - eating live seafood (e.g. squid, ice gobies) while it is still moving. Creepy and messed up stuff imo.

The fight was so good. But this stuff sure is packed with artificial Japanese words (or how do you call this).

“I love when you look down on me” lmaoo Rinzu is down so bad for Jinka. All bro had to do was look her in the eye and tell her to surrender before her knees buckled, bless.

Tama fanservice let’s go!! 10 years worth of refining her spiritual energy in the span of an episode, that’ll definitely come in handy.

Don’t blame Shinsuke for not killing Senya, yea, the mountain goddess prediction that he’d try to kill them ended up coming true, but it’s still just a little kid.

Honestly didn’t expect them to try and confront the enemy so soon after training. I get that they’re stronger, but there’s still a very big power difference between Jinka and Jinun which Jinka ended up paying the price for. I almost thought they were gonna make Jinka fight Jinun without his spirit transformation since he got attacked before he could get into it, and managed to dodge two of Jinun’s attacks.

All in all Jinka lucky to come away with having only lost one arm. Tama’s strategy to get the maintain goddess involved work brilliantly, but she’s not as smart as she think she is because the goddess saw right thru that and expects compensation.. love how she straight up said no to shinsuke’s soul because it isn’t appetising lmao

Fight was very well done, white fox have consistently cooked in this series and no exception in this episode. OST, Sakuga, this had it all.

New party member now, will be fun seeing Rinzu and Jinka interact. I’m still a little confused on whether or not Jinka got his arm back with that seed the goddess put in his wound or if it just stopped the bleeding.. kinda looked like he got it back in a few of those shots, but camera moved too fast

Damn. Did Jinka really lose an arm? That was brutal. I'm guessing the seed thing the mountain goddess gave him will eventually regenerate his arm back.

The price of having the mountain goddess intervene in the fight with the dragon was for her to eat Tama or Jinka's soul. I hope Tama is fine with that. If not, she'd be a big hypocrite.

The fight scene was fine. I just kinda wish we got to see the end of the fight instead of them being interrupted. Wonder what's gonna happen next.

The new party member is fine and all but she will never replace Shaku.

It's interesting that the OP and ED didn't change. I'm guessing there will be a new OP and ED in the next cour.

oh naked foxgirl naisu lol

mc letting the kid escape wouldn't end well, but i guess the kid also let him live, so it's fine
(no it's not, kill that idiot mc already, no one likes him lmao)

a fight between Jinka and the dragon guy, even with all the powerups, Jinka is still leagues below him, resulting in him losing an arm
with 6 tails tho, that big ball of elemental energy, and then the thunders, that was cool

the forest goddess finally intervened and easily beat them both, leaving the 2 bad guys imprisioned
seriously, she scared me with that "let's go see the earth's core" lol

even tho they were allowed to continue their jouney, together with the cute new girl, it seems like the forest goddess might want to eat Tama or Jinka later on, oh no
favorite "new girls" from fall <3 (lol i only watched these) ... click sig for older seasons

I loved the contrast between how Senya was introduced as a river of blood by Shinsuke to just another normal boy who cares about his father. Despite the goddess's warnings regarding Senya's future being more threatening than his father Jinun, there's obvious foreshadowing of an alternate path.

I enjoyed the fight between the Dragon and Jinka, but overall I have found the Forest Goddess and Rinzu to be annoying. It's kind of a bummer that Rinzu is joining the party. I just hope she becomes less irritating in the future. It wasn't really specified who lost their soul, and it will be interesting to see how Jinka fights going forward with his new abilities and lack of an arm. Overall I'm excited for what's next.

Oh god, Jinka lost one of her arms and Shinsuke again couldn't help, poor guy, he's so weak compared to the rest of the cast.

The soundtrack of this show is amazing, it gives a lot epicness to the battles.

@SaintCelestian No one lost their soul just yet. The Goddess specifically mentioned that they could pay the price after their journey. After all, she does need them to complete their mission of waking up Taizan (castle).

Jinka being the 2nd person to break the mountain goddess and overcome her training, it seems that she has more in store for him.

Shinsuke coincidentally meeting Senya, with the mountain goddess pressuring him to kill the kid fast, he just couldn't bring himself to execute Senya, and likewise with the young boy. Jinka having opened his fairy eyes, assumes more training with the dragon Jinun himself when she transports him back to the real world. Eventually, Tama overcame her training, and thus assumes the annihilation of the Dangaisyuu while trapping both Jinun and Senya in the mountains. Tama, however, resigns that with the mountain goddess, they'll be able to take down with the dragon and his katawara apprentice, and at the same time, test of their loyalty to her.

The trio having finally met both Jinun and Senya, the battle's primarily on Jinun and Jinka, the latter to put the mountain goddess's training into action. And the result of that is Jinka obtaining another tail with Tama's meditation once he's in Spirit Transformation mode, giving him 3 times as much spiritual power. The 6th tail of lightning, Jinun was about to oppose that, but in doing so, dragged the mountain goddess out into their fight, much less Senya trying to stop them from harming the mountains even further. With Rinzu joining them, their journey's only getting started.

Don't play around with the mountain goddess, or she'll really eat one of their souls, alive.

Tama just (mentally) aged 10 years? She even sounds a little different.

Jinka lost an arm? And it looks like he'll have to live with that, at least for a while. Along with Shakugan's "death", I keep getting surprised by how much actual danger these characters are in.

Good fight scene, with great effects and music as usual, even if it was cut short.

Yey finally, Rinzu is joining the team! I really like her character because I relate with her so much (regarding Jinka ofc haha). A lot has happened in just one episode: we had a sneak of Senya's true emotion (thanks to Shinsuke) and that the dragon is actually his father, and Jinka's sixth tail appearing clearly portraying the devil in him (it was supposed to be five because of Tama's 10 year spiritual training but where's the surprise in that right? lol). Jinka lost an arm though 😢
This anime felt always satisfying after watching that I guess even there are a lot of good anime this season, this one is usually the first on my to-watch-list-after-the episode-release.

The Mountain Goddess was pretty cool, but the Arc still didn't manage to win me over, so I'm dropping it now.

Not much to say for the show. It's a very basic action with a decent, but basic plot and boring main characters. A lot like last summer's Ayaka. At this point there's about 25% of the manga is adapted and I don't think the remaining stuff can get me into it.

5/10.
