Big step up just like ep 3. Fav Ep of the series so far for sure and its nice to see the curtain pulled back and Katie to get some character development.
KingYoshi said: I finally made it! It feels like a long journey through the absolute slog that was the first 5 episodes of this series. The reveal of the revenge plot and all of the edge that came with it was quite enjoyable. I hope this series continues with the same approach that was shown in the highlights of this episode. Though, the moments between the larger scale events were still really hard to watch. Surely dude isn't going back to the model student getting kisses on the cheek after "the power of friendship" speeches, or "troll rights,' speeches, or whatever other nonsense these characters are spitting back and forth to each other. I have hope, though admittedly, it is just a small vial of hope.
If you followed the series you would know that there is literally no way he doesn't return to such daily life events. That's the best cover up he can have and his best chance to survive in there long enough to get his revenge. Going full edgelord crap would have him pitifully killed before he can kill a single other of his targets. he's a mouse in a lion den, leading a group of mouses, hunting the biggest and strongest lions there are. if yo uwant shounen battle crap where the protagonist can be stupidly direct with his opponents and somehow his opponents let him live because reason, I doubt this story will please you. Any of his targets would murder him the moment they find him out, and he wouldn't be able to touch them, let alone kill them.
The fight against Milligan was fun. Nanao accidentally creating the seventh spellblade wasn't surprising. If anything it felt inevitable considering the title.
What was surprising was the big reveal in the second half. It was obvious Oliver was hiding some big secrets but those secrets were a lot more extreme than I imagined. The first major death in this series being a teacher was a shock but was was more shocking was the Oliver used a spellblade to take him down.
The torture scene was more extreme than anything I could've imagined Oliver would be capable of. Oliver repeating the word "wrong" gave me chills! This twist has definitely made me a lot more interested in this show.
FiddlePie said: Oliver's true nature has been revealed. This anime keeps getting exciting and exciting. Nanao is just a badass. She's intense in every fight which makes her a formidable. Oliver's mother backstory was really tragic. Though the teachers at Kimberly were involved, the one who Oliver should be plotting revenge is Esmeralda who for some reason reminds me of Esdeath. I wanna see Oliver get his revenge on the teachers. I don't want it to become where he kills the guys but leaves the girls cause in anime you rarely see a guy hitting or killing a girl. We don't need that. I wanna see him exact his revenge and kill those teachers.
lol true funny how the head mistress sounds almost the same with Esdeath which kinda wonder if the author took the reference from it
WTF DID I JUST WATCH?? HOLY FREAK. THAT WAS A CLIFFHANGAR I DID NOT EXPECT. Sorry apologies to anyone that will dislike this comment, since I never read the manga in my life, so yeah that is a freaking Cliffhanger.

This is a LN adaptation, not a manga adaptation.
According to the author’s previous work, Tenkyou No Alderamin, in the afterword of the last volume, he mentioned that this is a story about humans. I have read 8 volumes of the LNs, a lot of human experimentation indeed.
So you just watched a show about humans. Hopes this answers your question~
It's about time this got interesting! The first 5 episodes were a lot of nothingness but finally something interesting. Almost dropped this. I'm now looking forward to the next episode.
@nhkam That's exactly how I felt. This really turned the notch up on a mediocre show. The fighting and powers used were great, the backstory is interesting (although feels a bit Harry Potterish) and now the MC actually has a purpose.
what a plot twist! all of a sudden oliver's past history got revealed and his personality just changed. fight scene between miligan and duo was great. oliver using Doctor Strange's power against dairus was also cool. this series is getting more and more darker.
The twist on the 2nd half aside, the 2 spellblades introduced this episode was portrayed really beautifully. The stylistic visual and sound effects are really used to bring out the epicness of the sure-kill moves.
Why'd my happy little witch academia turn into murder hobo run?
I liked the staff as introduced so far... Shame we're going to have to watch them kill la kill themselves.
this time well, are we going to get interrupted? its 2v1 again, but we're actually fighting an opponent this time
honestly im kinda sad we only have 2 people here. i know its a bit of like, the others wont necessarily be able to help but still
like miligan being able to just casually deflect nanao with one hand while talking is uhm. sheesh
ok so. miligan had literally another trump card, but nanao just overcame it by sheer power
so yeah, oliver recognized it, but apparently so this is what a spellblade is, or one of them anyway, nanao literally cutting through space(time)
oh too bad for nanao she gets interrupted by the two council guys. honestly i wonder if they will turn against us at some point, would be pretty scary to not have any allies at all
also i was really confused but it seems whitrow is actually a guy voiced by a guy
curious what will happen to miligan now, but shrug
now that we've resolved this "arc" i wonder what's next.
i mean there's still the whole oliver and backstory thing, it vaguely seems to be implied he has some kind of reason or mission to be at the academy but uh
and i guess this mysterious and/or suspicious teacher
pretty sure this fight was over even faster than the garuda, but who knows
speaking of the garuda, they skipped over it but yeah, the teachers are probably really terrifying themselves, if they become antagonistic we're really screwed
aaand suddenly we have a plot twist
ok things are escalating really quickly, turns out we immediately jump into this, the teacher has some history with oliver and welp
so oliver either has an overt, or otherwise like, latent ability where he can basically either see the future, or something like that, which may or may not explain why he's so smart at everything when you can see the correct
so there are no other witnesses, but we get to see that oliver does have a spellblade of his own
though they did clarify that spellblades only work at close range, which is uhm. weird. since he's mainly used magic attacks at range so far, either to complement or to his his abilities. this is also the first time we see him straight out trying to kill someone, though nanao only disarmed miligan
i mean yeah we can see that oliver had some trauma, pretty dark backstory though, whatever it is
uhm. there is a good question though, what are the other teachers going to do when they find one of the teachers is missing? hmm
so far the entire anime has taken place in the school, and we get a flashback. very brief
well hmm. i dunno, maybe noll is his original name? did we see gwyn? hmm
yeah i kinda forgor that oliver has you know, backup that does things offscreen
ok damn thats a lot of guys
uhm. i was thinking this was a bit extreme but the next ep better uhm
oh i think i get it now, so, all the teachers (except the sword teacher?) plotted/conspired to kill oliver's mother, so his objective is to isolate each one of them and kill them? uhm.
still, why did they want to kill her? because she was a spellblade user and she was too dangerous to be left alive?
and how did oliver find out all this?
Well uhm. Only took 6 eps, but we finally have most of an explanation. I'm not sure because it feels like the plot twist is too abrupt.
Otherwise uh...well I'm really not sure what to say.
Like we already knew and saw that the anime was going to be pretty dark and violent, but hmm.
I'm curious how things will go in the remaining eps, like this would normally be the halfway point in a 12 ep anime but eh?
But otherwise uhm, like we're 6 eps in, katie has had her time but chela has been a bit eh. While nanao has taken most of the screentime.
I'm assuming we'll see at least another one if not two spellblades by the end, but hmm. The other teachers might or might not have it, and things might not go so well next time.
Like, they did drop some hints about making too many enemies, and I was speculating it could happen, but if it really turns into oliver vs everyone im not sure.
Also the part where, is he going to be able to keep it a secret from this friends this entire time? Are the other three going to be more relevant now? This is getting really awkward, hmm.
EDIT: one thing I forgor to mention, I was kinda expecting hte teacher to say something important before he died but apparently not.
One thing I just noticed, it could be a total coincidence, but its funny that nanao is the nanatsu spellblade
One last thing, Im not an expert at japanese, but I think the japanese title makes more sense now that we know. Maybe?
Wow, that took a dark turn! I was not expecting that twist either. This anime really surprised me. What’s the coronation for? Wow!! What exactly is he a lord of? There are still many unanswered questions!!😙😙
I'm thinking they might have crammed the volumes into the anime, which could explain why it feels rushed. The character introductions also seem hurried and overwhelming, too much info at once. Great episode tho! Makes me feel super thrilled YIPPEY 😀😀😀😊😊😊
Katie was really annoying the first few episodes and constantly needs saving, which was really fucking annoying… I still can’t stand her. They need to get rid of her… ASAP!!!
Well, we'll see if Oliver gets more interesting after this twist or not, but he's going to have to crawl out of pit the show dug for him first. The show made the main characters so underdeveloped and unlikable that I've full on sided with the antagonists now. I wanted both Vera and Darius to win, and I've even started liking them despite how twisted/peculiar they were. I was actually disappointed when they lost as if a hero from another anime lost or got killed. It's kind of bizarre, on paper I should dislike Vera for being an extremist activist, but I find Katie even more unlikeable. It was just sad seeing Darius killed, like I watching Snape die.
I honestly don't care about Oliver's goals, so much so I want to see him lose or at least for his plans to get derailed. I don't like seeing he's got so much backup on top of being OP, what would make things interesting though is if his friends turn on him when they figure out his true identity and goals. I think that would be the most optimistic hope of mine, that this twist at the end of the episode makes Oliver into an interesting character, and things get shook up so his former friends are in conflict with him now. That would break up the tedious "the main characters are the designated good guys, and the antagonists are the designated bad guys" we've been seeing.
What a twist. Basically all the staff at this academy are part of an evil killer cult then, and Oliver has been biding his time, waiting for the opportunity to strike them down throughout. My internal rating of this anime has already improved.
Spellblades are about as overpowered as a weapon can get. One of them can cleave through spacetime, and the other is capable of freezing time while visualising every possible outcome of a scenario.
Oliver's cousins teleporting into the scene again, mysteriously...
