i dont mean to disrespect your way of viewing this show. but from what i know, japanese is the worst language to watch this in. apparently they had to cut a bunch of dialogue in season 1 in order to fit it in. the Chinese language is obviously the original, and from what i hear the English dub is real good as well. i only hear complaints from people who have seen the Japanese dub

And that I have so many fav seiyuu(JP VA)s too, so I do wanna hear them if I can.
If they wanna watch with whatever dubs, let 'em be, as long as they arent insulting/downgrading the org, whats the harm?

Unless you are in Japan or having a Japanese streaming account and paying for it, watching the show in Japanese doesn't help the show since folks are probably watching it illegally.

If you live outside of China and outside of Japan, it is best to watch through legal streaming services which is Crunchy Roll. Meaning you have to watch it in English or Chinese (for now).

And yes I get some people don't have money or don't want to pay to get a crunchy roll account. But if you can, it will be nice to help the show out since they need views on legal sites.

Funny, I found the Japanese dub to have way more information in each line of dialogue than the English subtitles for the Chinese dub.

This question seems to attract a certain breed , goes offtopic and never gets a proper answer. I've been looking too and i have to assume that there are no official news so far.
All we know is that season 1 took more than a year for a JPN dub.

Yeah, it was quite some time before the Japanese dub was released for the first season. I remember very well (it was only in mid-2021 after all) people posting inquiries about it at the time on the series' sub-forum and then the subsequent updates pertaining to that which came later when it was actually first announced or news leaked about it, then when it was released, etc.

I've only seen the first episode of the series/season one in Japanese audio as I was curious. It seems like a perfectly serviceable version at least. I watched it in Mandarin Chinese personally because I prefer watching everything in the original language, but I get why someone who is not a Japanese native speaker or second language speaker at all would still prefer it in Japanese, because they're more used to it and familiar with hearing it from more exposure to Japanese media. I do prefer the sound of the Japanese language to...well, a lot of other languages, including Chinese. I like this show but do not love and am not obsessed with it to such an extent that I feel the desire to watch it all the way through again (or at least the first season, since that's all that's released in Japanese for now) a second time only two years from when I first watched it just to watch it in Japanese, but I have had the thought that if I do watch it again one day, either as a whole or even some individual episodes out of order just for enjoyment of parts of it, then I may do this in Japanese to have that secondary experience.

One thing I will say is that the Chinese language voice acting in this series, at least to the brain and ears of a non-Chinese speaker, comes across passionate and authentic. The main boys' duo have voices fitting their personality and can be spirited or serious, and Qiao Ling's voice in the original is cute and playful (also fitting her personality, I suppose).

I'm honestly not sure if we'll get a second season for the Japanese dub because of the controversy surrounding Lu Guang/Hikaru's Japanese voice actor, Takahiro Sakurai. While bigger, established anime franchises aren't particularly bothered (like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer) ... Other smaller ones (like the Apothecary Diaries) are replacing him... Additionally, he has left his agency which could affect several contracts... Not saying they can't just replace him or continue as per normal—but it definitely does delay things...

Hopefully, it comes out soon... *fingers crossed*

2nd season japan broadcast announced. more detail will be announced later, but 1st season will be rebroadcasted via new B8station timeslot on October 2023, so 2nd season will be coming around 2024
