Why does MAL staff allow shows that are made for western audiences even though they claim to not allow these shows?

Edgerunners was actually made to promote the Cyberpunk video game in Japan as they were hoping it would do better there after it bombed in the rest of the world at the time. |

Edgerunners was actually made to promote the Cyberpunk video game in Japan as they were hoping it would do better there after it bombed in the rest of the world at the time.

| This is produced by a Japanese studio (like Scott Pilgrim Takes Off that isnt on MAL for some stupid reason). The bigger problem is that they allowed Chinese and Korea animation on the site. |

| This is here because it's anime. It's an animated series created by Japanese people, produced in Japan, primarily for a Japanese audience. It being based on a Western IP is irrelevant. That doesn't stop it from being anime. |

| This IS a japanese production, genious. Source material origin does not matter, Solo Leveling is korean and it's there. RWBY is some american (very garbo, BTW) franchise, yet the anime and manga of it is there and it IS anime, as it was produced in J-A-P-A-N (unlike the original show, who is not even there, like it should not). THAT'S what an anime is... For realz, MAL even extended it's scope for any east asian production, like King's Avatar from China, for example, a little controversal decision, but still with eastern cartoons focus, and you f*ckers wanna make it an second IMDB? Gonna ask 4 Live Actions and Movies there next? Next you guys gonna ask why any japanese cartoon, produced in Japan by japanese, but with some thematic/aesthetic borrowed from Alice in Wonderland, Cthulhu Mythos or some other classic western sauce, is in the database? Anime Batman, X-men and Blade (all 100% USA IPs) have been there since OVER A DECADE, but you dont complain, since you drama queens only known of seasonals. |
