Jin got the type of training he always wanted and, got his flame pants.

If this was a longer series, I would be interested in see Jin's highschool life.

Can we all agree that the best thing in this episode is that at least Jin go to school! Everyone must have a right to access a proper education, even a fighter!

But what's make it even better is that his grandfather always bring him to a business deal, so Jin can learn how to make his own empire. You can't fight with an empty stomach, but that's not a Mishima style, you gotta fight while you're also a billionaire LOL.

Honestly the best thing in this episode should be Jin taking off his shirt and show his lickable muscle, but sorry, where's his nipples? And I don't think it's Netflix fault because Spriggan has nipples. I'm looking at you, Studio Hibari and Larx!

so Kazama Fighting Style is about pacifism or defense eh while Mishima Fighting Style is offense oriented then

this entire episode is a training arc for Jin and he now mastered Mishima Fighting Style but im sure the Kazama Fighting Style will be useful for him again in the upcoming tournament mixing both offense and defense fighting style

Just like Episode 1, I enjoyed this episode - especially with it revolving around Jin's training and character progression towards the Jin we all know from the games.
Something I neglected to mention in the previous episode's discussion was that the use of each character's combat styles and techniques from the games are really well incorperated into this anime.

The only gripe I have with the show at the moment is how Heihachi's English VA delivers his lines. I get it, its probably more to do with the Voice Direcition and lip-flaps but the deliivery of his lines seem really stiff and lacks a lot of gravity - he seems more "tired" than "powerful".

Episode 3, here we go!

I enjoyed this episode more than the first one, which just confirms to me that if there is actually a lot of fighting with recognizable moves, it's going to be entertaining, because everything else isn't, unless it's vaguely related to the Tekken 3 storyline.

The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was that Jin's updated looks just suddenly include the "tattoo" even though that really should've been something he got branded with in episode 1.

Regarding the dub, I had to break my own rule this time. Usually I watch everything in its original language, whichever language that may be. But I'm not going to listen to an English-speaking Heihachi and Jin. While there are many different languages in the games, it just feels wrong to have the main cast speak English. I haven't looked it up yet, so I don't know if Kazuya will appear, but I hope he will.

That was fucking epic. Maybe I'm just a fanboy, but I was screaming when I saw Hwoarang and Xiaoyu for those few seconds. Can't wait for the next episode.

No Flames! truly Heihachi is evil. So we are just getting a time skip montage. At least they showed the characters but would've been nice to hear them talk for that first metting or something but I guess with only 6 episodes we gatta rush.

The blond teen Jin fought, was he a player in the game as well? Also that highschool girl, she an actual fighter too?

I'm more of street fighter fan, so I'm loving new game lore.

At first he Heihachi seem nothing but an old bored man flexing his skills on a child. but then Jin would never want to train with anyone who go easy on him. Even his mother didn't.

Still pretty bad. Better than the awful old Tekken movie we got ig, but Tekken has so much anime potential, shame they can't seem to get it right.

So Mishima style uses anger, it seems?.. Well, at least Heichachi told that feeling of anger, when Ogre killed his mother.. Must support him.. Among other things, of course.. So it seems that maybe this style is more utilizing anger?.. Rather than pushing it down, how it's in Jun's style.. Why she told Jin to seek Heihachi then?.. If their styles might be different?.. Are there no other carriers of Mishima style?.. Or not enough skilled carriers to defeat Ogre?.. Or maybe styles aren't necessary different or have different view on anger.. As it's only closely touched, but not really..
Yeah.. So pacifism of Kazama and fire of Mishima, how Heihachi tells about it himself..
Jin is quite dedicated.. Well, what more motivation he needs?.. He's doing it for mother he lost, after all..
Hm.. So 4 years passed in training.. As well as 4 years of Ogre's situation not resolved.. Well, not necessary Ogre did anything too actively during this period.. Who knows..

Jin's training with his grandfather has sure been hardcore but worked with how muscular he is 4 years later, not to mention his techniques improved to the beat he could beat Heihachi in the end, now it's time to start the tournament so Jin will possibly get his revenge against Ogre for his mother.

Enjoyed this episode more than the first one, a lot. And the first one wasn't bad. At least for now Heihachi doesn't seem the usual hate sink and with all his speeches, sucker punches / kicks and scheduled trainings i couldn't avoid mental comparisons to Miyagi Do / Cobra Kai. When the con man at the dinner slashed Jin's arm with the knife, i was suddenly: "it's blood. So what? Make believe it's his."

The plot also did a fast job into bringing back the other Ogre's supposed victims from the time skip between Tekken 2 and 3, probably even too fast when it came to introduce Hwoarang and Xiaoyu. The latter and Jin have already their cool high school uniforms, it was so satisfying to discover them in 1999 along with their paired stage when my best friend always brought Tekken 3 to my house, and then unlocking them in first person in 2004 when i bought my own copy of the game.

So, if there was already a 4 years time skip, was Jin 12 or 13 years old only in the pilot? If he's still in high school at the end of this one he can't be older than 17, right? It will be also interesting to see if the actual years and the corresponding technology back in the day will match (if I'm not wrong, Tekken 2 was settled in the late 70's and 3 19 years later in the timeline)
