Ooh, trying to investigate on a suspect at school I see.

Not bad this episode when you consider the drama and some levels of comedy involved in it. It kinda made it more exciting when it takes place at night. It wasn't an easy case for Mai but at least she had the guts to handle it.

Seiko being a sadist again this episode which was funny in some of the scenes.
Poor Kawai tho having to walk alone around the school like that.

I also know the feeling of constantly changing shifts done that for a few years as well and it was pretty terrible, could not sleep at night anymore at some point say the day shifts where hell.

They called a wrong kind of department for this case, we call ghostbusters for this kind of stuff. Anyway, why they did not coordinate a bit ? Like why the main duo didn't know about the people already on the lookout there ? What ?

The second part was a weird one, you see, for some reason they decided to dedicate it to the most popular porn genre in japan that yearly sells astronomical numbers.

Lol it's cute how Kawai has that childish behavior sometimes, seriously the fear of ghosts xD
Though f*ck this sexual aggressor but making him do gay pictures as a punishment is the most stupid thing I've seen in this show so far

Haha. Kawai was so cute and hilarious. That "ghost" really scared her.

The second half was pretty weird, though.

Police work long hours, from cases to simple things like hospitality within their own circles, it deprives the body a lot. Having to patrol in a stale old Toyota Crown is not the ideal patrol car from sharing the similarities of a taxi to late-night ghost sightings and sprinkling salt.

The patrol request of a school burglar case, and Fuji leaving Kawai to her own devices deprive the other detectives to do their job of capturing the burglar. Kawai attempting a Test of Courage while singing the police song was the worst option, and unfortunately, those same detectives have to fumble around both the burglar and the idiot. Fuji claiming all the credit for the case once again, and Kawai definitely had awoken from that harrowing experience.

Yamada is complaining that he was bullied by Minamoto in the police academy, yet live in the same police quarters with him, now uncanny is that. Molest incidents on trains are quite common in Japan (which is a part of the porn industry), and Yamada sure isn't considerate of the victim's feelings, yet his rival-cum-partner is training him in cases like these where the aggressors aren't remorseful of their actions.

The weird part of doing an re-enaction of the incident with male officers in full view sure looks stupid, but it's part of the weird fun when Fuji gets involved with it. For that to actually calm the molester down, Yamada definitely learned to be strong.

Definitely a weird episode that as always stays true to police values.

Patrol the area = Singing to warn potential suspects and then losing her shit when she though she saw a 'ghost' .......... Maybe she should have quit in episode one.

I don't think it was suppose to be a punishment.
They were trying to make him feels sexually uncomfortable, so he would realise how he made his victim feel and start to feel remose for his actions.
Of course real Japanese police wouldn't do that, they'd just detain him for 23 days using sleep deprivation until he confessed and repented for his crime.

Always knew about those re-enactment of crime scenes police do, but doing one with a groping scene and that too with this neat detailing looks more of a humor take to me. Nevermind though as atleast the molester agreed to cooperate in the end.

I can see why they put the "this is the work of fiction" at the beginning, the real reason is not because it's fiction, but because it'd be in trouble if people think it isn't.

Whether this is real event or not, especially the second part, the author said that Yamada is the only one who based on real person and doesn't go any personality modification like other characters, so I think the second part is most likely based on real event. The real event was probably before the MeToo movement though.

But the most important thing is that I'm glad Yamada is living with Minamoto, I ship them! Quite interesting that men has to share room while Fuji and Kawai have saperate room, possible because there's many more men than women so women section of police housing have many rooms left. But whatever the reason is, my BL thirst is being fulfilled here.

Great episode! Kawai is too comfy in the patrol car and doubled with the fact that she has been finishing tons of paperwork lately, she is really tired xD.
Seiko really scared Kawai by telling her you see things you don't want to see on a late night shift...
They receive a patrol request at a school and Seiko tells Kawai to do the patrol of the scary school herself as she's been too off the job lately!
Yamada and Minamoto have been on stakeout for ten days to find a burglar in the school but Kawai is being too obvious walking around with her flashlight and they are scared she will get the burglar's attention.
Kawai runs away at full speed due to her being very scared lol. The burglar nearly got away but Seiko caught him. She also chain locked the bicycle so he couldn't get away!
They also capture a groping suspect and take in the victim to make a statement and Yamada goes straight in asking 'What kind of underwear are you wearing today'...
The reenactment was very funny!!!!!! Yamada ends up having to pay for a barbecue for them because of him making them help him on their day off though!

Looking forward to the next episode!

Once again, Kawai made me laugh during her "patrolling" of the school grounds, which she sang to herself to make sure she wouldn't get more scared, which ended up failing as she hightailed it when Yamada went after her so that the guys investigation didn't go off-rails. Her expression when he caught her was great! XD

Speaking of which, I did like the Yamada-focused second half of the episode as he did his best to get info out of the rich snob who molested a school girl on a train. In the end, he asked his colleagues for help and their plan was certainly interesting to say the least. Regardless, the re-enacting made the groper show remorse for his actions while being humiliated at the same time, especially by how Fuji with her hectic camera work.

Overall, this was another satisfying episode. =)

Alright, Kawai found to be slacking off again when the late-night shift patrol occured. But sergeant Fuji won't let her precious partner get left behind the action after nodding off and decided to left her behind to patrol the school area alone after telling the ghost story. However, she sure had another plan, while there's something wrong in front. In the end, there's actually a school burglar ahead, and using Kawai to divert the situations around, indeed a genius idea. She got the burglar, and return her precious partner back into the earth again.

Second part where the police gang dealing with tough groper who think he's the most powerful person on the earth. Until he received that kind of same harassment, he must be realized not to messing up and feels strong with those police in pod. Sergeant Fuji enjoyed and pleased with the reenactment scene? Nope. She just wanna get that over fast and leeched off the afros brothers money after all her hard works capturing that moment. Ganbare, Yamada-kun...

Very good episode, loved the spooky themed first half, Kawai running her guts out once again, but this time from a ghost, and loved her reaction when Yamada grabbed her lol. 2nd half was great as well, that groper really was scum, and the scene where they re-enacted the groping was hilarious, also loved Makitaka’s malice towards him.

This police department really needs some coordination. Kawai and Seiko should have known the other duo was already patrolling that area.
And of course Seiko ended up taking all the credit...

Second half was weird. Forcing the molester to do "gay stuff" to make him feel uncomfortable? Yeah, pretty sure he learned his lesson after that.

At this point, an episode wouldn't be complete without Kawai running a marathon. The whole night patrol school thief situation went all according to Fuji's keikaku.

I am fucking dead, that re-enactment was hilarious. My reaction was basically Kawai and Miwa's reaction plus laughter. Minamoto got cake though. But seriously, fuck that groper.

This episode was seriously stupid. The first part was extremely slow and predictable, the dialogues were off, and the final morale was garbage. The second part had some quality comedy homicide.
I liked the perspective of being empathetic with the victim and understanding the perp, I seriously hope that we get an episode that does it correctly without interpolating the characters growth in such hardcore manner, like starting from the perspective of the victim and then learning from that or doing a reflection over that, maybe that wont happen, but would be at least better than watching a joke about a man groping a man because gay

Having the perp be embarrassed for his actions in front of the women could've been achieved with the use of a mannequin writing in the dude as the stand in was a deliberate choice.

Yeah, because many, if not most, heterosexual men (especially the type who are especially male supremacist/chauvinistic and prone to act as sexual predators in their own right against girls and/or women), will find it extremely degrading or embarrassing to be forced to perform even a fake homosexual act, even if just for humor and for show. So they were playing on basic assumed psychology of the alleged perpetrator in a way that would induce him to confess. The scene made sense because it made sense for them to utilize such a tactic and it will also elicit laughs from some in the audience because many find this type of emasculating and overall/general sexual humor funny.

Really enjoyed this episode and echo many of the above praises. I picked up this show out of curiosity because I recently finished You're Under Arrest and wanted to see how they compared. Fortunately, Hakozume manages to be something uniquely different and not an imitation like I worried it could be. I like the lighter, comedic tone of the show, but also how it understands the right times to act maturely with its serious subject matter. Obviously the "re-enactment" scene in this episode was a bit ludicrous, but it was really silly and enjoyable.

Unrelated... But one thing that keeps distracting me in this show is the police car. Sometimes the CG model is shown mirrored, noticeable because of the backwards license plates. Also in this particular episode, there's a brief scene where Sgt. Fuji re-enters the cop car and the steering wheel is suddenly on the wrong side... I would chock these up to production mistakes, unless Japan has magical flip-flopping police cars I don't know about.

Meh - I'm sure plenty of people found it funny and plenty of people didn't. Humor and comedy are completely subjective and even moreso than other genres and aspects of a series.

For my own part, I don't find most things in most scripted comedies funny in a laugh-out-loud sense since my own sense of humor is pretty idiosyncratic, but I don't mind it as just a regular part of the plot either.

WHY ARE YOU RUNNING?

Kawai's inner monologues when she's caught up in these unexpected situations crack me up.

Fuji (bless Ishikawa) instantly recognised something was up when she saw the car parked as a detective should. Savage when the thief tried to pedal al locked bike without realising it.

Fuji and Minamoto came in on their off day to psychologically prepare the groper for Yamada to interrogate. They feel owed.

I had forgotten how the premise for this show was that the author is a decade experienced (ex-?) officer. Hence the seriousness and hard real grit of these situations. I'm glad how he manages to include light heartedness into his stories either built from ground zeroes or being situations completely accurate to his older day to days in the force

It’s not just a “porn genre.” It’s an actual crime that happens in Japan, and is sadly quite common. But like in this anime, police don’t do much about it
