Not too shabby but I'm not really too impressed by the first episode.

We do have the main cast introduced in a school setting. Some of the characters' personalities are more goofier than others. Private Tenshou Gakuen has a rather complex system that I find more interesting than the cast itself. Got to hear a song near the end of the episode. I wonder how many unique songs we'll hear in this anime..

Men aren't the targeted audience. And this is an adaptation of a vocaloid project which involved seiyuus covering songs. Not really idols.

Nah, they're pretty different. I've read a bit on this series from the translations out there and yeah it's not like Enstars.

Put that negativity out of here and watch an anime you will enjoy instead of coming into this thread.

I can't get enough from this type of anime, and this one look like a musical.
Though I predict we'll see a significant quality drop from now on, especially the animation.

Loved the first episode, the animation for the song wasn't CGI which is always a bonus. Plus I liked how they introduced the MC

What I found interesting is that Ono Yuuiki is voicing another redhaired character. And the first episode was awesome.

It wasn't bad that it didn't fall into the tropes of this type of anime , but there were a lot of elements including the weird supernatural ones. I mean I understand a story about a group of boy loving music and pursuing it , but ... white shadows.. what's up with that? Honestly when the MC had a flash back of his sister seeing white shadows but only she could see them, I was a bit weirded out. Wouldn't it be a better story though if these white shadows were actually a sign of some kind of mental illness that is somehow genetic , and the experiences the character has because of it and how he rationalizes it into the supernatural. Honestly that would fit a little more easily with the narrative of wanting to make music more than this clash with the supernatural. Although if they continue this route, I do hope they flesh it out and have it make sense rather than use the supernatural as an excuse for fan service,

Besides that, I feel there were way too many characters introduced in the first episode, though they were introduced as naturally as they possibly could given the premise. Of course if this show is something like baccano or durarara , I will forgive this overwhelmingly large cast in a heartbeat . So hopefully cheers to that!

Summary: Please don't turn into a generic pretty boy fan service anime with a halfhearted attempt at plot and characters!!

This seems interesting, although it's going to take another episode or two before I remember all the characters' names.

It's certainly better than Ensemble Stars, at least.

live posting:
huh, ghosts. wonder if they'll be activated by the singing

alright, a wall, huh?

sleeves past hands, yess!! love that trope. usually see it on characters wearing scientist coats with sleeves too long for them, tho.

guess sleeve-boy is one of the main three, then... Pfft, he's playing a piano with his fingers covered by his long sleeves.

oh no, cyber cats. they wanna destroy you with cuteness

nice, late to class toast girl in the background. oh, nice, they mentioned it

wow, that's a lot of kids of different ages and knowledge levels to cater to...

oh no, vocaloid. Is Hatsune Miku gonna show up as a character somewhere?

heh, Ryo's crying over it

wait, the wall has.. grown? o no, fungi

o no, we got our angry edgy boy

oh damn, you could see the shape of the hand when he reached into his pocket *furiously takes notes*

well, this white wall mystery is quite intriguing...

geez, his eyes really are as blindingly orange as his hair... ti's kinda creepy.

Cue meaningless shots of boys we don't know yet doing their club activities as the day gets later...

ooh, the vocaloid P dude is the headphones one, makes sense

Aww, Nozomi is cuuu~te

o no, secret talking with the doctor...

huh, they kinda remind me of animism

oh, there's the cyber cat dude, Harumoto... Having cameras all over the town tho... kinda creepy

alright, sleeve boy arrives at the end, huh? With a stunt I would expect of his outfit too, lol. "Uta Outa"? Pfft

wtf, the preview section isn't subbed? laaame

From the perspective from a long time fan of these series, I actually enjoyed. I already know most of the characters, so I'll won't have as much as a hard time knowing who is who and their relationships. The small cameos and references to their Albuns/CDs were really nice.
For those confused with the supernatural elements, the series always had some here and there and some characters are always investigating these mysteries. However, it is mostly a very light slice of life about music, their daily lifes at school/clubs and their relationships.

I'm not gonna be sorry for the first hate of such idol-esque shows (as regarding to my earlier comment), but gonna give it a second chance (feel free to hit me up to clarify the genre).

As it as and I will say again, new studios always bring something new to the table, and this is no exception. Although I have no idea what studio Drive will have for this series, guess we'll just have to wait and see, but for alleviation of the intense (and underpaid) anime industry in Japan, it's one of many newbie studios with people looking to break the mold.

And of course, getting acquainted with the many characters is the 1st step. Great for such series like this, but if it ends up being a generic fusion of SoL and music elements, it gets boring pretty fast. Plus, characterization is extremely important, so I'd guess that the staff would NOT want to pass the opportunity here.

Judging by the title, I'd presume that the songs the characters want to sing are connected to their lives and their measure of impact.

Mostly a set-up episode, but I'm gonna keep my expectations low for now.

Ok, the characters....
Right off the bat, we have - A HINATA! With matching colour theme to boot! And just beating that other one to the start line, too! o/
Satsuma feels like an amalgamation of several characters, I've seen too many blue megane over the years and he feels a little "off" to each of those - a little softer, a little less tense, a little different blue....
Ryou is Miira no Kaikata's Daichi, glad to see he was given a role in another series.
Kai is like a 98.45% perfect clone of Dream Festival's Itsuki.
Mike (thank the GODS they didn't go for "English" pronunciation as a nickname) is - I have a feeling we've also seen him elsewhere, but the colours match Dream Festival's Kanade (that last shot of him in the water in the preview really made me feel like I was looking at him), and he seems to be a major tsundere, so default favourite there.
Kagura apparently has some secrets, but his general demeanour and appearance makes him one of the bests for now.
And we've really only met Uta literally for a brief introduction, he feels like a diet version of Ayato Yuri. Is the halfwit speech a persistent thing, or does he just have moments?

The setting, as in the location itself: a giant, sprawling education complex that covers guys and girls, and all ages too? Ok, that's not something I personally have seen before. And with the few random shots we've been given in the first episode, it's quite well established that we have a feel of it too, so congrats. Something that big often proves too difficult to manage, especially when introducing this many characters. Still, though the cast is big, at least it doesn't look like we'll be meeting several new people in every episode.

The hospital scene, as short as it is, manages to build some background, and then the flashback expands that, which is great, because it puts some substance under the surface of "pretty boys singing songs". Kagura falling in love with Saku, I mean Saku's singing, was absolutely beautiful too (THAT FACE!!), as well as the entire scene being splattered with random "lifescapes" from different parts of the city. Then the way the white shadows actually looked and behaved, to me it certainly seems at least less generic than what I expected at first.

Overall, I'm looking forward to this series. It might not end up anything exceptional, but it does look just like what the doctor ordered for me.

It was kinda ok for a show like this, but I got the feeling that it tries too hard to be different and more complicated than it actually should. All the supernatural elements seem weird so far and even though it's nice that there's a somewhat interesting plot apart from usual idol singing but at the same time I wouldn't want it to end up falling flat as a whole.
MC's singing voice is really good though and the animation looks better than I expected.

I think there should be some tags added to this anime: supernatural, mystery, drama, potentiallly shounen-ai... I think someone's trying to pack too much into a single anime.

it appears as your typical school idol anime at first then it becomes supernatural and then mystery and then back to singing in the end? sounds like someone combined too many genre into one. it's ok if it's just two or three genre, like Carole and Tuesday's singing/drama/sci-fi (futuristic), but this one is way too many and they don't even mix that well together.

some of the characters' voices also grates on my ears. and their character designs so far are very stereotypical. and how the hell is that pink cutesy guy able to play piano with his long sleeves covering his hands??!!

well, at least the song is good.
