| This is the best anime I have ever seen, better then the manga. I really liked how far they went into developing the characters, to just make you really connect and feel for them. I am pretty sure we all know who the favorite girl is, I rated this 10/10. This is art. |

| Now that it was brought up, this really did remind me of the ridiculously cringy gross-out humor shorts I used to enjoy on Newgrounds and other flash game sites when I was really young lmao I can't say if I'm proud of surviving through this without grimacing to death or ashamed for watching it in the first place. | I think it's interesting to look at this from another perspective. This is obviously not in much favor of Trump. However, it's interesting to remember that this is a Japanese media product and Trump doesn't have direct power over them. So then as a historical product, we can look at why someone from a whole other country would be compelled to make what is more or less a diss track about our president. It's not even really about his policies either, just a bit more about exaggerating his personality. And really, they could have made this about America as a whole, but they specifically singled out Trump. Now, this isn't the first time Japanese creators have put presidents into their works. However, former presidents such as Obama didn't really get THE WORKS like this. So of course the questions to ask are, why do people in a whole other country feel the need to make this piece? What message do they want to give us or the audience? Are they laughing at us or with us? Is this a representation of our country or just Trump? I feel like they've separated the idea of Trump from the US. But what does that mean? I feel like maybe Japan just thinks we're in limbo, perhaps. Maybe they think, as a country, we're just kinda AFK until Trump is no longer in office because they won't take us seriously otherwise-- if the fact that enough Japanese people okayed this enough to have it become a short says at least a little about that. So let's say this is just a representing Trump and not the US, right... but our president is a symbol of us as well. So what are we to the rest of the world right now, really? How does it reflect on us to have other countries not seeing our president as one of the symbols of our country but instead something of an independent negative figure? Also, a lot of people say that what happens in the US doesn't concern them, yet here we are as we pop up in their media, and of course considering the US's standing in the world, that's a naive statement. I don't know though. Just questions to ask and things to consider while I'm consuming or at this point digesting this anime. Also, while I'm excited to consider all of those things, I feel like this anime actually wasn't done too well. If they're going for satire or parody, I feel like they could do a lot better than pee-pee-poo-poo jokes. I feel like there wasn't as much meaning in this as it could have had. Like get us riled up, Japan. If you're going to do it then do it all the way. Don't just stop at this base level humor stuff. I did like the pause before he'd start rapping though. That was always good. |
