| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Hmm, the OP song is alright I suppose. Personally like the ED theme song better. Seems that Yasaburo got caught into some business affairs with a local ramen shop owner. Good drama as expected and balanced humor. Akadama still has his wisdom in this season while I feel like the pacing fits pretty well for this episode. I have to admit though, that Tenmaya guy is strange but pretty fun to watch. Loved how Yasaburo tried to get him back for all the tricks he pulled. The story about Hell was interesting too. |

| What an amazing episode! It was over before I knew it, ugh. The OP animation is absolutely unique and stunning, I love it a lot! Just like the previous season, it's quite catchy as well! All the new characters have been really interesting so far, and that ending was awesome. The visuals in this show are just great <3. |

| Milktub's OP song is amusingly good as I hoped for it to be and the same goes for the animaton for it too. However, fhana's ED song is probably my favourite for the Spring season, so obviously I prefer the ED song. =) Tenmaya is one interesting human. His face might be funny to look at, but his tricks have gotten the better of Yasaburo at his own game. Yasaburo's Oni attempt near the end almost worked, but I don't blame him for giving in when Tenmaya pulled a gun to his face. I wonder if we'll see Benten in the next episode? I hope so. =D |
| Tenmaya is pretty damn slick if he can trick a Tanuki, especially Yasaborou. I wonder what his role will be. Kaisei is back! Marriage was mentioned again. Both tengu being very prideful again. No fight took place. Benten likely coming back next episode. The painting is likely very important (has a spider's thread as well which is commonly used as metaphor in stories). I won't even try to guess what is going on here, you gotta have to wait to see the plot really unfold here. |

| very catchy OP! I remember the group "milktub" on the past back thoes days when they performed the ED of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (s1 & s2 & matsuri) that illusionist is quite sly and sketchy! fhana still popular as ever...they're group is on prime as of now. 4/5. |

| I WAITED A WHOLE WEEK TO SEE AN AWESOME FIGHT BETWEEN TENGUS. All I got was an old dude messing up. I like the opening of this season, far more impressive visually than season 1's opening but I like the first seasons song more. Aside from that some more interesting characters get introduced and mess around and thats really it. Ultimately a pretty good episode. |

| Love the OP, but admittedly the ED does more for me here, specially with Benten away on her journey (seems like the ED shows her and Nidaime in some sort of complicated relationship too, would love to know more). Yasaborou getting tricked was surprising, especially with illusions of all things. Thank the gods Kaisei was here this episode to save him. Though, did anyone notice how she was the one who rushed into the shopping district wearing Yashirou's backpack? Makes you wonder about things, no? Tanuki's tricking Tanuki's wouldn't be that hard afterall... |

Anyone realized that Yasaburo turned back to tanuki form when he saw Kaisei?    Maybe there is some mysteries regarding this phenomenon. That's why Kaisei never appeared in front of Yasaburou... Anyway, Yashirou said everything on my mind regarding engagement with Kaisei... KAISEI THE BEST GIRL! xDDDD |
| Once again, a test of how magical, mysterious and fascinating narrative of this series. I admit that I look at it in the first place, to the places that portrays, but also for the folklore shows. The long list of weird people, is extended with this new character. Poor Yasaburo, duped twice. I wonder if Kaisei, do not even see in this series, or at least, we will see it only in passing. |

| That OP is pretty nice.... love the visual style they used there. Oh god Kaisei is back, just hearing her voice has such a soothing effect on my heart. Little brother making great sense here, just get married already hue hue hue. The plot thickens and the mystery deepens.. I'm loving this even more. Lmao that ending hahaha that's hilarious. I had always thought it was because she knew that Yasaburou is too obsessed with interesting things and as such she wanted to create some mystery about her. If she showed herself to him, she would become boring in his mind. She is smart on that. But yes, it does seem as the shock of seeing her did cause him to revert back to his tanuki form, and considering that he hasn't seen her, why he would have been shocked is a good question. As for best girl, I am in the Benten camp, if only because it would be more tragic, for both of them, because it is quite clear that Benten does love Yasuburou. But Keisei is absolutely adorable as well. But forbidden love (half tengu for a tanuki) is more appealing for me. |
| For those interested, this series will be the focus in the next Imagine-Nation airing the April 24th on NHK World (free satellite channel). You can expect a little introduction, interviews with the staff and maybe the novelist. |

| A bit better than last ep but not by much. Still no Benten (and I have the feeling that first time we see her, we would be trolled by tanuki). Tenman`ya is pretty interesting character (definitely better than that egoist Nidaime) but the things are still way too much random, bland maybe. I want to see some connections already. I want to see some intrigues, that's where the first season was the best. With that being said, the most interesting thing for me now is how his relationship with Kaisei develops in the future eps. |
| Sigh, I guess I'll have to rely on the ridiculously low amount of fanart for my Benten fix. All in all, it's an okay episode. Nice to see Kaisei. Remind me if I'm wrong, but was that flash the first time she's actually been shown? Can't remember much from the first season anymore. |

| -a miserable pile of feathers -i didn't really notice in the first episode but the backgrounds are actually pretty nice -pls don't bring back benten -oh hey milktub also reprised the OP -surprisingly both the OP and the ED are just as good as the ones from the first season, unlike some of the other shows i've watched -kaisei is such a qt -pls don't bring back benten x2 -that is fucking terrifying -ramen dude's got a smug mug- jesus christ what is that in the pot -come to think of it i wasn't too big of a fan of the yodogawa dude -huh i must have missed some details from the last season because i don't remember this yodogawa dude becoming opposed to tanuki hot pot -so many new characters wtf -looks like smug dude's name is tenmaya. he actually seems pretty cool so far -who is jyurojin -does that mean tenmaya originated from the painting -the ruse cruise never ends So first off it's pretty cool how both milktub and fhana decided to reprise the OP and ED performances. In fact, I think the season 2 ED is slowly growing on me to the point whether it even surpasses the season 1 ED. I just love the singer's voice. In terms of the contents of the episode itself, it seems that the focus of the show is not actually solely on the tengu in the white trenchcoat (Nidaime I think?). It seems that instead they're electing to introduce a bunch of smaller plotlines, and from the way the first season ended, they'll all be resolved simultaneously, somehow. In any case it seems to be a lot more exciting than I was expecting. In the process of introducing all of these different plotlines naturally there were a bunch of new characters (I think) introduced, but none of the ones introduced in this episode seemed particularly noteworthy except for the Tenmaya dude. His appearance definitely carried most of the episode because he seems to be just as mischievous as Yasaburo, if not more. In addition to that, Kaisei also made a return in this episode, and I actually forgot how adorable she was in the first season until she started speaking. I really hope that she gets a more prominent role in this season, and I really really hope Benten doesn't come back. EDIT: also it's pretty surprising how this has less than a page of replies even after like a couple of weeks since it finished airing |

The artist said that he was asked to paint the Budha in the picture on the screen and that although he usually wouldn't accept such a request he did so because he felt moved to do so by the suffering pictured. So he paints the Budha doing something straight from Budhist lore, namely the parable that has Budha feeling compassion for a sinner and lowering a spider's thread down to hell to let him climb up. The sinner in the story started to climb thankfully, but when another sinner started to climb behind him, he failed to show compassion himself and kicked the other one down. At that point he lost his right to be saved and the spider thread was severed, plunging him back down to hell. So here what we see is the "method of escape" from hell and how he managed to get out of the picture on the screen - a method that needs no explaining for Japanese viewers as they would immediately recognise the lore behind it. |

| I was a bit confused as to why Kaisei could appear in front of Yasaburou but then I remembered that she was in Yashirou's bag that whole time. So then the question is, how can Yasaburou get tricked by a human? And he can change back to his tanuki form after he saw Kaisei.. Uh but if a tanuki changes back to its tanuki form it means they are in fear or there is a "scary" figure in front of them, right? Like when Yasaburou's father saw Benten, or when Yashirou was scared by Kurama Tengu and Kaisei's twin brother (although only the tail appeared). Oh and in the first season, Yasaburou had said that he didn't know what Kaisei looked like and that's why he couldn't find Kaisei anywhere (in the last episode, if I'm not mistaken), that means he didn't know that it was Kaisei when he "saw" her? There are so many mysteries... Tenmaya, Nidaime, the relationship between them (Nidaime said something about an air rifle and that it's dangerous if it falls into the wrong hands), Juroujin, Benten (she and Juroujin also seem to be quite close as Friday Fellows' members), Nidaime's hatred/grudge towards Benten, Tenmaya's relationship with Juroujin... and of course Kaisei. Great~ it's exactly the same as the first season. I hope it will be as enjoyable or even more so than the prequel :D |
