what i'm trying to say is to just be a bit more considerate for the people who haven't had time to catch up on dr2 yet. there are also people who've been introduced to dr franchise by anime first, and didn't know the game is necessary. it's just sad seeing them get shut down in forums so harshly or spammed with dr2 spoilers that are tied into events that dr3 haven't completely revealed.

Ok, lets see, Im going to pick some of your quotes "don't discuss the manga [original work] beyond this episode", yes, is true that dr2 in the series timeline happens after dr3, [....]

I agree with this, I pretty much discovered Danganronpa with the 1st anime season. I didn't play DR2 and discovered DR3 by watching the first episode (oh what a mistake, I spoiled myself the biggest revelation), but immediately after I dropped the episode and just played during a week the whole DR2 game.
I'm glad I did it, because else it would have ruined the total experience (even if I got spoiled about the remnants of despair).
(about DR1, I played the game before the anime ended airing, so I still got the full despair experience. yeay)

Now I'm a huge fan of the Danganronpa series, and I'd never tell people to watch DR3 before playing the damn game.

And there we go, crap has hit the fan. Though it's bluntly obvious that Sato did kill Natsumi and Fuyuhiko killed Sato to avenge his sister.
Sato is way too gay for Mahiru

Alright, didn't expect us to see the Twilight Syndrome Murder Case play out, so that was interesting. I'm still confused about Chiaki, I thought in DR2 they said she was an artificial AI and not around in the real world, yet here she is playing a vital role in all the other character's developments, especially Hinata's. However, I don't remember seeing her in the beginning of the first episode when showing all the despairs wreaking havoc, so either something happens to her or she isn't real after all. Regardless, it seems the "happy go lucky" phase is over and the despair is starting to show itself. Should be interesting to see where it goes from here. I hope after his procedure, Hinata is still friends with Chiaki. I like seeing them play games together. Unfortunately I have a feeling that won't happen

Start the murders, but here the most interesting, is the hidden plot and how this boy will transformed, in someone positive or negative!!!

I think the second girl murdered, the killer was the brother of the first murdered, the Ultra yakuza boy!!! The first, in this instant has doubts, but the shy girl don´t like :/

- Are you kidding me?! They finally gave Fuyuhiko's sister a voice and personality only to kill her off in the first half of the episode. Meh, those who played the game already know the obvious killer but still... it was too soon.

- I've never strongly disliked any character in Danganronpa (okay, I slightly dislike Nagito) but funk that boxer, he ruins everything by just simply showing up.

- I wonder if this is the last episode Hajime will appear in and Izuru takes over, if that's the case... the next episode has to include Junko... it has to.

This week in Juuzo ruins everything.

Forreal tho, I don't get the investigation thing at all: there are two dead in the Reserve course you guys say you ain't got time for that because investigating the "dark side" of the school takes priority? Bitch, this shit is as dark side as it gets.

Juzo you fiend. >_>

Wonder if Natsumi hadn't had been killed that her and Hajime could've become friends and her talked out of the possibility of taking any extreme measures.

Natsumi approaches Hajime. Oh snap! Dat ost.
Super High School Level Imouto? lol
She hates Mahiru?
Sato appears.
Shit getting heated that you can hear it in the hallway.
So Natsumi pulls the "I'll kill you" card like Fuyuhiko. lol
Peko oppai.
lol at Ibuki.
So there's a blue Game Girl Advance. lol
Sato and Natsumi again. Hajime had to step in.
Sato will protect Mahiru.
The police. Is this when it happened?
A murder?
So that's when Natsumi died.
Fuyuhiko checks the body.
Pink blood is back.
Hajime listening.
Chigau. Chigau. Chigau.
Sato is dead.
So Main Course students can go to the Reserve Course, but not the other way around. smh
Sakakura! He was in charge of security.
Hajime trying to fight Sakakura.
lol at Sakakura using the same goldfish line as Natsumi.
Sore wa...chigau zo!
Hajime got a piece of Sakakura.
Chisa saved him.
Hajime! How dare you knock the waifu's hankerchief out of her hand!

-intriguing how the theme of "contractory motivations" was prevalent in the episode, and how each motivation was valid in its own way. i liked that. i also liked how they humanized the little sister.

-that being said, the murder felt extremely rushed. the whole thing from beginning to end took less than half an episode and someone murdering another after what we saw and heard makes no sense. they should have introduced her at the end of the first episode and developed the confrontations throughout multiple episodes,a little each time. that was a big wasted opportunity.

-also,i am not sure why they retconned the confrontation. in the original story she was shown the picture and admitted. here she wasnt and she continued to vehemently claim it wasnt her, thus confusing everything. why was this changed??!! it worked perfectly the way it was. and we didnt even get to confirm whether it was peko or fuyuhiko who killed her.

-also,how come Hajime did a 180? when fighting the boxer he kept saying talent isnt everything, then he decided that he is desperate for talent. now i get that it could be that he lost and felt himself weak, but such things should have been clearly conveyed. all we needed was one minute of him thinking to himself after that to clearly clarify everything, instead we get something that looks like a 180

overall, this episode felt like a big wasted opportunity. it could have been far more than it was :(

Kuzuryuu little sister died too fast, they must have many other plot in this series to concluded entire Twilight Syndrome in one episode.. They also didn't really explain how Ibuki, Mikan and Saionji supposed to be also in crime scene ...

Starting this arc I was very excited to see the reality of the murder we learned about in the game, and to learn about Chiaki’s role in the whole. And this was fine at doing that, I didn’t dislike it. But I feel I won’t enjoy this Despair arc. I may depending on where it goes, but it specifically sits in an area of Danganronpa I do not like. What I like the series for is for the distinctly unique, primal and crude way it's executed. I love the over the top characters, the fan service, the murder and the intimacy when it's all connected, its degenerate in the best way possible and I don’t mean any negativity with that word. I love when there’s heart instilled in this, chapter 2 of the original game really hit me for instance. But I like it when it's just that, a touch of heart to give the silly, sexy, violent and comedic life of Danganronpa a tinge of emotional resonance.

The things I don’t care for are the characters on their own because I typically get old of their routines fast excluding the few favorites I resonate with or see many sides of, and the big one, when the series gets too serious. When Danganronpa tries to make a greater point it makes me cringe. The extreme binary's can feel fake and juvenile, pure idealism and pure cold pragmatism, hope and despair, classism in its most black and white, the talented and the worthless. These extreme concepts being flung around by extreme characters are something I can never take seriously whereas I can really dig them otherwise; in fact I love them otherwise. I want to stress, I don’t think this is inherently bad, to me it's just melodramatic in a way I can't resonate with, it makes me want to skip the scene at times.

Luckily, I do get everything I could want out of the Future arc, it represents the feeling I dig in the games and in a much more frantic and pure dose. Due to my predisposition, I don’t tend to like the games endings so I probably won’t like the ending to either of these parts, but I’m sure I’ll have a great time getting there in the Future arc. And I do look forward to seeing more of this arc too!

8:47 I disagree. At least, in my case, it's not fun to have no talent in gaming. No matter how much I try, I always lose in games. The only thing I'm good at is at the beginning, where I learn fast, and I master the basics within the first few hours, but then my skill stagnates, and eventually, my opponents will surpass me, and at that point, I can never win. As a result, I can barely have any fun in games nowadays, and I've semi-quit.
Aww, Natsumi died. Such a waste of fine meat! It always makes me sad to see pretty girls die without them experiencing a sexy time.
