Oo, Kurosaki taking the spotlight this episode.

Seems like he is experiencing one of those flashback-like visions. Nanami tries to help but the reaction is something I'd expect from him. Looks like some of his confidence is back though...thanks to Nanami.

Catchy solo performance though.

Sealing the rock to concentrate on his unit songs. He's trying too hard that everyone, including his kouhais, worries about him.

He remembers when the band was disbanded. He wanted to go, but he chose SSS stage instead of rock stage. He realized what he was lacking while meeting everyone and realized this is where he should be. She made a song that represents both sides of him. After the unit's work, they arrived to the stage with the festival ended, but he sang that song anyway.

Next is Mamo's character and SuzuKen's character, finally?

Weirdest episode yet.

The construction of the stadium hasn't even started yet? Just how much time do they have? And it's gonna be built at a park? I don't think a park is a good (or a big enough) place to build a stadium at.
And if he loved rock so much, why did he quit playing in his band to join an idol group? Just because he was invited to join? And he doesn't have to give up rock or anything just because he's in a different group now, he can still try to find some extra time to play/sing rock songs. If he stays up until late at night to practice dance moves, in addition to the normal practice times, then him having to stay up to practice is kind of unnecessary. Instead, he could just have used that extra time he spends on dancing to play rock songs.

Maybe I'm looking too deeply into this.....

Anyway, Ranmaru actually smiled a couple of times this episode! It's nice seeing him smile, he's always acting so cold.

The animation quality was quite outstanding on its own this time, especially the dance... ε-(´・_・`)ハァ・・・ Ah, but before the spontaneous live, the way the movement while playing the guitar was animated was nice in fact! Just a minor part, I know... OTL
They wasted too much time with Ranran being down and the way he had a change of heart was too plain... The last 02 (04) minutes were quite like him, though. He really made me think "now that's what you call an idol! キタ━━━(・∀・)人(・∀・)━━━!!", but the rest of the episode was really not extraordinary or anything. It's just a small issue, but I think they should have placed Masato and Ren behind Nanami because they seem in the way like this and LOL @ Camus' hair during practise and Reichan's constant antics (the intonation of his very last line was kind of cute, haha).
I actually expected that we'd get to see more of QuarNigh in the anime (especially the individual episodes) because of Ai's episode, but there wasn't really anything like that with Camus and of course Ranran this time. But I guess not all is lost for Reichan's episode due to
.

What a fitting episode for Ranmaru~! I couldn't help but cross-associate him with Tachibana Makoto a few times due to the fact that they share the same seiyuu.... and that cat scene.... It's like Tatsuhisa Suzuki's characters all attract adorable cats or something. lol.

Anyway, the animation was superb, especially the dream sequence. I could really feel the eeriness of it, particularly during the part where everyone disappeared into puffs of smoke. The lighting and effects chosen for were very appropriate as they reflected the inner turmoil Ranmaru was going through at the time.

I enjoyed Ranmaru's song, and I think he really shone on stage. I wish he'd get more screen time though~!

So Ranmaru goes around carrying fish in his pocket? xD
The dance scene was pretty good! Why didn't they (the staff?) use that quality in the ending song?
Oookay, when his solo started there wasn't anyone at the park. Suddenly, everyone (starish+random people) appears from nowhere
Wait, did you just say that Jojo is shit?

Ohh ok I see....umm, yeah, they didn't really explain that...but if he's good at both singing and playing the bass, then he could've become a solo artist or something, I don't know.

I thought that too! But I think every day when he goes jogging, he comes across that cat, so maybe he brings fish for it every day or something. So it's like, he was bringing fish because he knew he'd find that cat.
And maybe all those random people were on their way to the rock festival anyway and they just happened to show up right when Ranmaru started singing. I don't know how starish got there though o.O

idk how to feel about his song.. Gonna wait for the full CD. But I think I like it. Tattsun's rough vocals pierce through here (in a way).

It was an interesting episode though! The conflict was actually real this time, unlike the previous few >_>
I really liked the scene beside the lake, with the bokeh sunset in the background.

OMG MASATO/TOKIYA'S EPISODE IS NEXT WEEK /breathes heavily/

For someone who has Ranmaru as favorite Utapri and played the VNs, this episode was completely out of character for him except the cat things and his soft moments with Haruka.

It's not like Utapri anime will never leave the status quo or develop these characters anyway, is just a silly and expensive advertising so you can play the games and get the real stuff.

omg this! I feel this so much. but yeah it did make me play the games so it works!

i had a nice laugh over the cute little fish in his pocket. And I wish the cat licked up the crumbs left over but nope!

Camus' hair during practice! Ranmaru is so handsome. Man quartet night are so handsome. I can't wait until the nxt cross unit though.

As for the song.... well when i first got into this series I really loved "Bright Road" but I find Ranran's songs can never match up to Bright Road ever again :( Well we will see as I listen to this new one more though

From someone who has played the games, this episode was a big let down. Ranmaru was not himself at all, he was complete out of character. He is not a person that would have smiled and openly talked about his situation like that so quickly or easily. There is more to Ranmaru than his bands. The episode conflict was resolved too quickly for someone like Ranmaru. It is something he has been hanging on to for so many years and given him a ton of baggage. It made him look like a friendly, laid back character, when in fact he is the complete opposite. Even in the games he is not that sweet to Nanami. Give or take a few times. In All-Stars he was borderline abusive and verbally abusive constantly to her. They are not on that close of a level compared to the other characters either.

When did he write the lyrics? In one day? If Nanami wanted to write him a rock song so he wouldn't give up rock ,what was the purpose of the pop techno song she wrote?: I don't want to sing rock, You must sing rock, it's who you are!, Okay!, Here's a skrillex remix!

This episode left a bad taste in my mouth. It was close to, if not one of the poorer ones of the season for myself. The animation, cat and Ranmaru shots were the only plus side to it all. I'll hold out faith for the TokiMasa episode and pray it is as good as everyone is holding out for.

i been feeling that way about all of the sempai episodes this season actually. i feel like camus also had no reason to open up at the end of hi episode or care about nanami seeing his performance etc. anyway i agree it was a let down and ranran was portrayed super badly. I usually let it pass since i consider everyone's characterization in this show a bit wonky compared to the games, even the main starish. HOWEVR i do not forgive them for Ranmaru's song! I agree 1000% about Ranmaru's song. It was NOT what i expected. Ranmaru's songs are just not matching up to my expectations.

but anyway as someone above said, i guess we should just see these episodes as long advertisements for the game. also, a chance to see our guys fully animated and get new songs!

Yeah, it was the most out of character episode of the entire show IMO. They changed his backstory, they changed the way he thinks of his (ex)bandmates and they changed the way he(initially) acts with Haruka. The only thing okay-ish was the cats and when he softens up in the end, but game dere Ranmaru is still superior.
I'll never understand why the anime producers make these choices, they basically gave a decent insight of Natsuki's character for these two seasons, Tokiya in S2 was more like his game self, Masato and Ren got good episodes for themselves but why they're lacking so much with the senpais?
(´;ω;`) It's kinda upsetting because the senpais are my favorite Utapris.
Well, it seems like the producers like the old Princes so I have faith in TokiMasa episode.

It would be really disappointing if they hadn't put any effort in Tokiya's parts since Tokiya/Miyano is the core of the whole premise... Even if he'll appear as part of a duet and won't be focused on individually, that would be quite disappointing. Or it would mean that the ending will be even better (I cannot imagine that even that won't be the case since this would make this season much worse than the prior ones... imo, at least).
Ah, despite that I do prefer the senpai group as well, though~ (-∀-) It often feels like the senpai are just an extra. OTL
But I've also been anticipating to see Icchi and Masato more often together (not like that), especially after Music 2.

I agree. They changed too much about him for my liking. The senpai are my favorites too. Their stories and personalities are deep and once you get into them they grab ahold of you. It is sad that we couldn't have that in the anime. I feel sorry for people who will play the games and get not what the anime is giving at all. Ha!

I do think Ranmaru's softer side he has when he shows it is nice. When he shows it. I still believe they had him warm up way to quick for the anime. Not much to do about it. It was odd to see after knowing. Him and Nanami's relationship is my least personal favorite out of them all despite the fact. It lacks compared to the other characters' relationship with her imo. They have more I love...the music relationship which makes me (¬▂¬) Reichan Reichan! And Ai too seemed much closer to her on a personal level?

I do feel as if they are still being treated more as side characters this season even if they were supposed to be the main focus. Broccoli loves their Starish boys and always will. As the anime gets more audience than the games they have a chance to show their favour in better light I guess. One can't blame them much as they are the start to everything. I believe more people watch it for them no matter. We still have Reiji's episode to go but as of now and how the rest of the senpai have been handled I am not looking forward to it as much. I bet the TokiMasa episode will be superb. It is the one most people seem to be looking forward too with no doubt. We can hope! Camus' episode was the best so far of the senpai. All the techno this season in the songs is a change. Hopefully I did this quoting correctly!

Finally spotlight for the best guy, Ranmaru (tho Tokiya and Ittoki come close. Loved it when he grabbed Nanami's hand and later how he petted Nanami's head and sang for her. The song wasn't bad either.
