Average budget for an average anime is ~100k$.
Average budget for a tv live action episode is ~1 000 000$

so in between, somewhere.

Hopefully less than they'll make off BD sales.

the animation is high quality like that on young animator training project so it must be around 300,000 - 400,000 dollars - http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-06-16/4-anime-selected-for-young-animator-training-project

Errr. Chances are that BD sales will be around 10 to 20 times that, considering Zero.

Off topic, but Fate/Zero BD is hilariously overpriced.

It's all because of Aniplex. I believe they have 8 episodes of Bakemonogatari up for like around $30. You could buy two seasons of Breaking Bad with less money.
And I mean that in the most sexually painful way possible.

That's pretty cheap considering 2 episodes of KlK were going for about $60.

id guess close to a million. under the dog which recently got funded on kickstarter asked for 560k and its runtime is estimated to be around 24 minutes... maybe it has a shit ton more efects and stuff packed into those 24 minutes than what was in this 48 minute ep, but id still say this ep took at least 750k to produce

If you just watch FSN for action, I suggest you drop it...

how exactly did you infer that im only watching it for the action idiot. im specifically talking about those kind of scenes because they eat up the budget and if you didnt know already, thats what this thread is about

Around $100,000-$300,000 which is generally how much a single anime episode costs to make (Link), and just to note...

Time and talent can matter so much more than money. Just because you're spending more does NOT mean the animation will be better.

This was double the length of a single anime episode.

I'd agree with the given figures, but seeing how fluid the animation was (DAT BATTLE!!!), plus I'm guessing ufotable used more frames than the average anime, I'd say maybe between 750k to a cool mil for this episode. I'm treating like an OVA where the production costs are higher than a show. Hopefully is type of animation will translate into the show.

Um what? The animation wasn't that great. Good compared to the average show and nice to look at, yes, but the episode didn't look that expensive either. Yeah that fight scene had a lot of frames, but the rest of the episode was full of still shots and very little movement.

yeah there were definitely couple of places in the first half of the ep that seemed like they were cutting corners here and there. I was feeling a bit worried at first while watching those, but got totally blown away by the second half :D
