Coming from the Black Bullet review. Idk if you remember it, but I just watched the show and was shocked with how low the ratings are. Yours is the top review, and I find a lot of the stuff written questionable. I doubt you remember it, so I won’t go into it. But anyone that comes here from that review, I encourage you to watch the show.

Ok, so I am almost at 400 completed anime, but I wanna make it special. Should I watch Boku no Pico, yes or no?

Great review of Black Bullet. Now I know NOT to bother with a bland/boring/trainwreck show. That said, I think you were a bit too harsh.......................to Kirito.

How exactly does a character have no personality? I literally don't think that's actually possible unless they're a robot, or something like that. Second, I think Silica was only a loli for the one episode. Next time we see her it's two years later so that doesn't count anymore. From what I'm aware Rentaro gets a whole crap load of lolis to love him because their society hates them despite them being their source of survival.

With Kirito, I think what people confuse what he is for who he is. Yes, he's the kind of generic hero character we see in plenty of stories, but that's a just a role he plays in the story, and it happens to be role a lot of people want to be in. However, Kirito has identity because of his struggles, his relationship with his family, with Asuna and the Moonlit Black Cats, and especially with his opinions on the world he lives in. Yeah, he might attract girls and be OP strong to some, but it's because it's part of his character's journey, not because any teen boy would want that. If that was the case, Kirito wouldn't have a romance with Asuna, he wouldn't feel anything for the Moonlit Black Cats, and he certainly wouldn't feel horrible when his cousin broke down in front of him. It would just be him being awesome for the sake of looking awesome for the audience to mimic.

I'm not going to act like Kirito is the greatest character ever, but he is a character, regardless if poorly written, overpowered, or whatever.

And one more thing- if people say Kirito is a wish-fulfillment self insert, I have a few questions. If you were trapped in Aincrad, would you make the exact same decisions Kirito made? Would you really want all of those girls supposedly chasing you? And most of all, would you even have the courage to stand on the front lines of Aincrad's assault team, knowing you're risking your life, and if so, would you be prepared to take all of Kirito's weaknesses and conflicts such as Sachi and his family issues along with all of those "perfect traits?" If not, then you're not Kirito, and he isn't you.

Lastly, the reason a character like Bella in Twilight seems like a self insert, besides having little to no personality apparently, is because no matter what she does in the story whether good or bad, there are no consequences she suffers. Literally NOTHING can go wrong for her, and even if it did, it could easily be fixed by her (as the NC calls them) boy toys without her having to lift a finger. I can't say ANY of that for Kirito.
At least he makes the effort to fix things himself.
