So , The Komaba's has lost their farm and Aki's family is about to lose theirs, if there is any lesson here, that would be to never back up ones credit.

What a gut punch of an episode! And it started off so hilarious... "Shall I lock the door?" :D

Lots of tender Hatchiken x Aki moments! <3 (I wish i was as bold and strong as Hatchiken)

Lots of sad moments as well... I got really upset seeing Komaba farm sold off and when Aki's family wanted to sell the horses. That's how invested i am in this show! It seems this anime also wants to explore some of the more unfortunate sides to farming, like what happens if your ranch fails or when an only child refuses to take over the business... I don't think Hatchiken is going to be very popular with the Mikage family now! :o

10/10 pitch perfect episode! It seemed to just fly by... So much so that i wasn't too shocked when the ED started playing! (Even though there were still 5 minutes left lol)

It's hard to see the harsh reality of a farming business going bankrupt, it's even tougher knowing these farmers barely could afford paying the bills, I stand in mutual understanding with Hachiken regarding this depressing state of helplessness :{

it's been 10 minutes since i finished the episode...still shaking.
brb screaming omg
so. good.

the early ED scared me a bit but at the end, i knew that putting it earlier was a good decision to build up the drama near the end. like bam the feels. BOOM.

This episode was so heart breaking. I can't forget Komaba's smile at the end. And I want to know Mikage's family's reaction to what she said.

Still, I am glad with the huge progress in Hachiken and Aki's relationship.

Omg, loved this episode, next week is going to be so good
i think one of the best things about silver spoon is that the characters are so relatable, i relate with hachiken mainly as i currently don't have a dream im aiming for and in just hoping that i will eventually create my own goal

Oh lord, thanks for writing that. I did feel the episode was a tad bit short comparatively and was wondering why. Now I need to go back and watch it, haha.

EDIT: Ahaha, I cracked up at the scene where Mikage's family's discussion of Hachiken as husband material. Oh my days. I love this series so much in all of its comedic and serious grandeur.

The scene where Mikage almost spouts "suki" made me feel kinda shoujo. Also this episode served a lot to grow Mikage and Hachiken's relationship.

This anime needs to have a third season already.

How sad to see the cows go away! T_T
What a sublime narrative made up of real truth.
It is so distressing to find the real problems even in animation, but also about what makes the anime series not only be a product of entertainment without roots that bind them to reality.
Excellent story so funny and serious, intense and engaging.
I do not understand how it could come to some people, the idea of giving him a vote of 2/5...mah!
Technically it is well done.

Never thought I would what an anime about bankruptcy. Also I never would have expected it to be so tear jerking...

Life is not fair. Nevertheless seeing stories where people have to overcome real life problems gives one strenght to believe that one can make a difference and things can get better.

It's weird -- it feels as if the second season takes hat the first season established and either builds it up, deconstructs it, or tears it down.

Lots of tearing down this episode.

I have mixed feelings about the end. Sure, it's supposed to be all "follow your dreams"/optimistic kind of outlook but really I can't help but think that Mikage pursuing her individual dream is selfish considering the amount of money and people involved. Unless her dream involves making a ton of money, similar to Ichirou's pro baseballing

My thoughts exactly, it's easy to say things like follow your dream but that future is uncertain at least and you can't make enough of money when you aren't pro on top. And Mikage wasn't training so much during her youth to become one (my two cents). Not to mention he is only making more problems for further relations with her relatives as they would know it was him who persuaded her to this which could lead them to hate him for it.

Well, it's really bad to lose a farm and to decide how to go on but this time Hachiken felt out of place all the time - he really just meddled in just to see it. I really don't like his explanation to Mikage's father about why he went there and he was poking his nose into family business in the last part.

I would understand this if he was her childhood friend or fiancé (not to tell it won't be resolved this way) but he really shouldn't have been there as her... friend. As such all his comments felt out of place.

At least I liked their talk on the road when walking back to her house.

You need to get your of your basement and realise that not everything in life is about money. Why should she take over her family's farm just because whatever future career she may or may not have may or may not generate as much money as the farm? And, as you must have learned from this series, farming is very often not an illustrious or prosperous profession. Aki's family is being equally as "selfish", pushing her into doing something she really doesn't want to do.

Not really -it's about $190k.

Actually it all doesn't really make sense, for a commercial farm that is or recently was profitable enough for expansion -190K is 'chump change'; they should have rather easily been able to get another bank loan or renegotiate their current one or even sell off part ownership.
Either this is just shitty writing or their situations are way worse -like pretty bad financial negligence worse (predatory loans, cooked books, etc.); legit institutions generally do not give loans to hopelessly doomed businesses.

And I don't know how to break it to some of you but plenty of kids worry about finances all the time; money is one of the main reasons for domestic fighting and family break ups -the show puffed Hachiken up as being smart but his actual behaviour is naive and kind of dumb, he is only 'smart' when it's convenient for the plot.
It's like those "smart" "scientists", who take off their helmets and touch weird unknown eggs on alien planets.

This episode was such a massive gut-punch surrounding Komaba's family situation and outcome, and a reality check with a terrific and tense final few minutes surrounding Aki confronting her family about her dream, despite the family being in a very complicated situation and having no other potential heirs but her so far. Hachiken of course was fantastic too in this episode, especially post-credits when being a pillar to Aki and being there for her during one of her most terrifying, complicated and potentially life-changing moments in her life. I love how Aki did not hesitate one bit in confiding in Hachiken and borrowing his courage after their talk early on too, its a nice touch for her character.

So much development for Hachiken x Mikage. We've been seeing them together a lot lately. And when they were walking back to Mikage's, they were holding hands! ^^ They better start dating soon~

And I hope one episode is dedicated to that date they were talking about.
