Recommendations

This recomendation is made specifically for those looking for any and every Anime dealing with time travel. I prefer Seikimatsu, but each series has its own charm and own take on the whole matter. One is also more supernatural then the other, where as the one that is less simply deals with time travel. The characters I think are the best part of poth, as they have characters who are quite gripping.

Dark, Gothic and supernatural... the characters are interesting and they are trying to solve the phenomena that occur in their world and try to stop them.

both full of random and supernatural events

Both have next to no plot development until the last two episodes, and both also are only held together by an incredibly epic fatty that serves as comic relief.
report Recommended by Paracosm
The animation style and general feel of the series seems similar. Both plots put a paranormal conspiracy story right in the middle of a tight knit community of unusual characters and tell the story using quirky humor with a mysterious overtone.

Amazing characters trying to live your normal student life suddenly everything is crazy and at the end of the world is an imminent threat .

After seeing 5 minutes of Gosick i was reminded of Occult academy. If you like Occult ( ghost stories, and such) you should like both of them. Both take place in school too.
report Recommended by Lylaaz
Similar to this anime, the male lead is a wuss while the female lead is a tsundere and knows how to deal with spirits.

The way both main guys meet the main girl is similar - if you know what i mean, and if you don't, i mean they are naked. :D They also have a special phone (but different kinds) and they try to change the world. But everything else seems different, which is a good thing.

The both are about occult. Since there is a few animes about occult science, demon/creature summoning and etc., it's a significant similiarity. Moreover, the sense of humour in "Yondemasuyo Azazel-san" and adventures & mysteries in "Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin" are the bonus features.

Both are dealing with the occult, but difference is quite large too. Shiki deals with vampires/zombies hybrid? and is more of mystery, psychological. Occult Academy has some comedy, deals with a general mix of occult like spirits, witchery etc. and has a feeling of adventurous spirit and time-travel. A teeny little bit of romance too. Both are in Summer 2010 anime season.

Both are about paranormal activity in Japan.

Very similar dynamic between the male and female leads of each show - a bossy young woman and a somewhat clumsy man from a different origin. Both also have the main characters getting involved in the supernatural and can have a dark feel at times.

Both have time travel, weird phone, really funny stuff combined with action, supernatural elements and unique characters!

Both has similar occultic vibes

When i finished Punch Line the first anime that came up in my mind was Occult gakuin, thats why: - supernatural power with time jump (not in stein's gate way, more similar to re:zero) - the "hero" jump's for him girls - comic style with a part of dramatic (like gurren lagann) - school setting - both anime end I think te weak point in this anime is that 12 episodes aren't enought to explain all the characters story

The similarities are glaring: they're both about strong-willed students pursing a goal that could save the world, while attending an occult-based school. Blue Exorcist however is a bit darker, with more graphic artwork and a bit more fluid. Both are fun, supernatural action adventures that really makes you curious as to what will befall your hero.

If you watched durarara and thought "man i like urban legends" here is a lot of them in occult gakuin, also full of humor and cool characters.

Both anime have 2 or more events taking place in different time periods, where the future time period is apocalyptic. These events are somehow connected, revealing everything dramatically at the end. Zetsuen no Tempest is a bit more deep, heavily relying on quotes from The Tempest by Shakespeare while Sekimatsu Occult Gakuin is still worth a watch with its own original storyline.
report Recommended by New_World
Both are supernatural shows with events that are out of this world.

Don't be fooled by the anime titles - in spite of seemingly being classical supernatural/mystery titles, the contents is anything but that: They're wacky parodic comedies with mystery and supernatural elements. If you're in it for murder mysteries, you'll be disappointed - but if you love a good comedy joking around with all the stereotypes, and having crazy, bizarre and messed-up characters, then you'll love both these series.

Both involve some sort of dark conspiracy involving death and mayhem taking place at a high school. Also, they're both relatively bad shows that if you should watch, it should be for reasons other than good writing.

These two anime are simular in the fact that they deal with the supernatural and spin an intriging plot that you don't necisarily easily surmise. Both have vibrant, crisp animation, not to mention detailed designs. The characters also build on you.

Gothic girls with interest in the occult. I am sure that the female lead in 'Yamato Nadeshio Shinci Henge' would adore going to the school in 'Seikmatsu Occult Gakuin'. Not only that, there are a few people who aren't shiny, sparkly and scary. Both girls can so kick butt! :)

The plot lines involve fighting off demons bent on bringing destruction to man kind. The anime also take into consideration actual legends about various monsters from around the world to make the stories work.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
both have a similar surrealistic style (especially the zombie designs and Opening Animation) and setting, fighting against monsters, mixing of comedy and seriousness, very good animation etc.

The setting is not all that off-beat or uber cool in Occult Gakuin, but it's still far from being mainstream. Who the hell build complete education facility devoted wholly to creepy occult stuff anyway. [spoiler] Hopefully not your father because he will die when you visit his school the first time. Gankutsuou setting, if you look closely, is just a realistic Victoria era and no matter how you look at it it's just Victorian. But when you look at it done by certain art direction with certain sci-fi stuffs keep popping, oh snap this thing is creepy too.

This recomendation is made for the Anime viewers who are looking for any Anime that contains "time travel" and "supernatural". The stories leave the viewers wondering what will happen to the characters.

Two series using the case of the week formula to investigate new mysteries. Occult Academy solves paranormal mysteries in search of an item to prevent a catastrophe, which serves as the overarching storyline ending the series. Hyouka solves harmless mysteries for entertainment as a school club activity, which creates a slice of life storyline where the characters are the focus. The stakes of Hyouka and Occult Academy are complete opposites, but each anime play to their strengths.

Preventing the end of the world, and some other similarities I will not spoil you for.
report Recommended by Numi
These animes are nothing alike in terms of storyline, but in terms of main characters relationship, these two are very similar. Loser and Tsundere (not as much as a tsundere in Occult Academy but close), heading towards the same goal. If you like a slapstick relationship between hero and heroine you should like these two.

Two series involving paranormal investigation to prevent catastrophes from happening. The female characters are variations of tsundere so you might be looking forward to that. Both series use a case of the week formula, but Occult Academy has an overarching plotline whereas The Mystic Archives of Dantalian focuses on character growth. Ultimately, these series are easy to pick up and don't require too much thinking.

The stories revolve around very different themes, yet the female-male leading duets are awfully similiar - dominant girl and wimpy boy characters.
report Recommended by shine_heaven
The schools are huge and mazes, not to mention the contain a supernatural secret and a mystery needs to be solved. They also have detailed styles.

Linked by Occult and Funny Kaidan restaurant typically would have 3 short occult stories per episode: The 2 main dishes vary in style and are often quite funny and a little bit scary. The last dessert is often more scary. Though kids oriented, the stories remain interesting for occult fans. Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin is more `gaggy` with better animation and plot. It has a lot of ideas in one main story: black magic, time traveling, supernatural power, aliens. Stuff happening in 1999 will be affecting human's future in 2012. I would approximate the ratio of entertainment to be 3:7
