Both have action. However, Darker Than Black has a bit more deep story line. Black Cat adds some humor into the mix up.

It's quite similar considering that Both Black Cat and GetBackers share a main English Voice Actor (Jason Liebrecht plays both Train and Ban in both series respectively), As well the music is done by Taku Iwasaki in both series. The fact that both series have goofy characters like Sven and Ginji and the more serious character like Train and Ban. Means this is almost a clone of it.

You will fall in love with both the male leads. you will also believe that the childhood friends/friends belong together.

Looks into more ideas about the recreation of the world, though this one is preapocalypse. Also contains a lot of serious storyline and only inserts comedy into each episode where it fits, never has a whole episode of silly. I felt trigun did this as well. It's also about some mysterious characters that do unexpected things for the personality you think they have.

Here's the one thing Why it's so similiar when the genres are so differ? The characters... Understand?? Blonde loli who can control her hair as much as she wants.. They're considered as powerful & dangerous weapon Kirisaki Kyouko (Same name) Not to mention Tearju-sensei is there too (Same chara) So, what do you waiting for? For Black Cat watcher... Watch out for To-Love Ru dangerous "plot" and nosebleed xD

Both main characters of the series are skilled assasins (ones of the best in fact) that decide never to kill again and help other to atone for their previous life styles.

both are stories about a pair of bounty hunters, and they're daily lives, and they're adventures; including dealing with the past of one of the main protagonist involving an old psychotic partner and an organization they left because of a woman, that is out to get them. Along the way, the main protagonist meets a partner, who was a police detectives and now they hunt bounties together, trying to be free, while dealing with the fact they are dirt poor, and starving most of the time.

Both feature Bounty Hunters (or Sweepers, call them whatever you like) and a blonde girl genetically created that knows nothing about the real world.

if u want an intense action and epic anime. then black lagoon and black cat are similar and i highly reccomended black cat. its great! indeed

Both have sort of fighting plots and would-be bad-ass characters if they took themselves a little more seriously.
report Recommended by Shugocharalover
Both dealing with assassin organizations and lots of gun packed action

Black Cat is like FMP because they share starting plots. A guy is lost in life (or being controlled) and has no real freedom to do what they want or strive for. So they go on through life until a girl leads them away from their positions of command and give them a new point of view. This is how FMP and Black Cat is alike and why I would recommend it to somebody that likes BC or FMP.

Train Heartnet the main character of black cat is very similar to kazuma of kaze no stigma, both have a black past and they are really strong in their worlds

Both adventuresome titles with strong independent lead characters. Along with amazing battles.

detective thing i really don't know how to explain it but they feel really similar

Main character joins a rebel- type group to defeat evil people trying to create an utopia using artifictal life (sorry about spelling)

Both Anime contain factions that control what is going on and there is a battle to see who ends up controlling what is going on in the end. They have similar styles with variations and similar humor to each other.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Similar pace and action with male protagonists that fight for justice with engaging partners and crazy villains.
report Recommended by lchoister
Sort of the same type of fighting action, especially with the dopplerganger named Eve. With her ability to transform to anything, like change her hand to metal.
report Recommended by fanlp3
-Both mcs use guns. -Young females with superhuman abilities. -The anime themselves seem similar to me.
report Recommended by Uproared
They both have the same kind of feeling, you know there's something more to what they're saying.
report Recommended by irishjumper13
Train and Kirito both play the role of a "dark" bad guy, and both of them are great fighters. They have different motives, but both change through the series.
report Recommended by AlveeJK
-In both, a situation causes a man to assume an almost fatherly role over a young female orphan. -Both girls have powers which reveal a movement against them and their kind. - The characters embark on an adventure to realize a goal. -Through their pursuits, other character(s) are met and partake in their venture. The tone of both anime are different but if you were fond of the relationships and scenarios in one, then you should definitely check out the other.

the love story in the beginig of black cat is the typical romeo and juliet theme (unrequeted love) though black cat is about an assasin becoming a bounty hunter sweeper romeo x juliet focuses on the love and heart rendering adventure they have. if you enjoyed the short lived love story in black cat i recomend Romeo X Juliet!!!!

Both animes have a main character who escaped from some military figure and change for the better. In both animes, the main character has their moments when they snap back to their old self, especially when finding their arch enemy, who killed someone very close to them. There is an equal amount of comedy and action. I HIGHLY recommend watching one if you enjoyed the other.
report Recommended by thatweirdchick13
in both the boy fights for what is right and fights to protect the ones he cares about. I just think they both are similar and anyone who has seen either would probably like the other.

If you enjoyed Bleach, you'll definitely like Black Cat. Both have action, comedy. It focuses on the male lead. They both have their own group, though it Black Cat in the end, he left his group and in Bleach there's some romance.
report Recommended by xxATxx
The characters are very strong and proud. They don't doubt themselves at all.
report Recommended by Karategirl2012
Both main characters, Cloud and Train, share those traits. They are badass characters with dead lovers, are super strong, have hidden pasts, were once part of an evil organizations, are loners who change because of their friends, and are good-looking with weird names. :p
report Recommended by -Cuddles
Both anime have loner main protagonists and they both have a bad reputation. They start off hated and end up doing good for most people. Blassreiter is completely underrated whereas black cat isn't, but both are great shows.
report Recommended by Sovereign_VIII
Both anime present a more lighthearted noir theme with an emphasis on super-human powers. The plot starts out simple in both but becomes something more out of this world towards the end, all with a pleasant mix of comedy sprinkled in between with similar characters.
report Recommended by Protaku
The main leads are hardcore in their own right and they both go on different missions with their allies to either make a profit, or have some sort of main bad guy their after.
report Recommended by pottercourt
Both series involve ancient (Noir) or just very old (Black Cat) secret, influential organizations which somehow decide over the World's matters. I found similar that both series have at least one main character that has been related to these organizations starts living a different life but it is forced, one way or another, to cooperate with them. Besides the similarities between the stories, I'll note that both were released in the earlies '00 and their OST is superb, setting a big difference with other shows.

really bad ass anime, the story line is really intriguing and adds up perfectly.

While there isn’t that much shared between Black Cat (TV) and Vanitas no Karte, there’s one thing in common between the two: the dynamic of the main protagonists. The dynamic between Train and Sven in Black Cat (TV) and Vanitas and Noe in Vanitas no Karte are very similar. Sven and Noe also happen to share personalities as well! Well, somewhat. So if you want an anime with a similar character dynamic between Vanitas and Noe, check out Black Cat (TV), it won’t disappoint!

using weapons irregularly and similar styles and colours should allow the comparison to be apparent.
report Recommended by Ninja77721
Basically, these are two stories with tortured protagonists and charismatic white-haired swordsmen becoming villains.
report Recommended by bmoore07
Both series involve a protagonist who is trying to escape their dark past as someone who killed people for a living. Both protagonists also befriend a young teenager/child who has the ability to turn into a weapon. They have similar personalities and even have the same English voice actor. Both series are able to blend comedy with a more serious tone. They also both have a tough guy character who smokes heavily and wears a pink apron sometimes.

Action-packed, secret-organization-filled and insane invincible-like characters!
report Recommended by eLiT3_
They have similar characters, as Kyoko and Yami, who, like Eve, is a biological weapon designed to kill, and can also transform your body.
report Recommended by JuanShot87
The characters and plot are really similar : "Train" is like "Nice" both began as strong badass character but change and become more cheerful because of their friends, and they both were part of an organization before. "Creed" is like "Moral" both are creepy psychopaths who are obsessed with the main guy and want to become his partner by all means (even doing evil stuff). The plots are similar because they are both about free travelling people who do request for money.

Without spoiling to much; Eve from Black Cat and Konjiki no Yami (her real name is even Eve) are COMPLETELY the same. The amount of cliches in Black Cat is equal to the amount of ecchi situations in To Love Ru Darkness.
report Recommended by BerrakBurcu
Train and Eve from Black Cat automatically reminded me of Lag and Niche from Tegami Bachi. Just like Lag and Niche, Train and Eve travel together (along with an extra companion who is the comedy relief character - same as Tegami Bachi). Lag and Train are both gun-wielders, but Train originally used his gun for assassination while Lag uses his gun to uncover feelings left behind in objects. Niche and Eve are both young females who are powerful weapons, but they eventually join Lag and Train respectively on their journeys. Besides those characters, both shows have specific organizations that carry out duties: Tegami Bachi delivers  read more

They both involve main characters who use to be assassins. They then decide to become sweepers due to some woman showing them the right path. Though each story seems to have a different plot, the main characters try to take on jobs that help people.
report Recommended by spineslayer
Both are about people leaving an organization, and end up being hunted down by their former allies.
report Recommended by IndecisiveRattle
Both shows are about bounty hunters and the main character is a skilled bad-ass who ends up in a war between two associations (govt power). They also have a rushed out twist ending and many things left are unexplained.
report Recommended by ShojoSamurai
The plot in the second half of each of these animes is similar in many aspects. In both shows, the "bad guys" are cowards who try to change society by brain washing or conditioning humans. Both these shows carry messages in relation to freedom of thought and the resolution of human conflict but R.O.D. also explores the concepts of education and culture. R.O.D. deals with a few more questions but it also leaves many unanswered, whereas Black Cat, despite its simpler plot, provides more closure.

If You watch closely the storylines are similiar. The main character is male who is fighting against an Evil organization. Both have aquaintences whom don't always travel with them. And In the Good group there's a character who looks cool with a bad past. Musica in RaVe and Sven.
report Recommended by Antione
Both have characters that use unique superhuman abilities and they are both action packed. The lead character in both of the series also used to belong to certain groups, until they quit the groups. Kai Kudo and Train 'Black Cat' both leave their organizations in order to find where they really belong in the world.

When I watched King of Bandit jing, I automaticly though of Train from Black cat. Both the main charcters in the animes are both like legands that spread around slowly, but thats almost the only thing that are alike.
report Recommended by Natsuko
both of these anime are similar by the action, bounties and theres weapons.
report Recommended by Hikaru91
Lots of action, adventure and heavy battles, these animes are great. Both of them have great character design with a bit of shading. Even the girls that help them out are machine type...

You will definitely feel the same aura if you watched Black cat and baccano ! .. Both give you the same excitement .. If you Liked black cat you should watch baccano <3
report Recommended by Lulu-94
Both are series that involve a dark organization with people who work for it (killers) and one of the members eventually realizes that they don't believe in the organization's principles and drop out/abandon the organization so they be free.
report Recommended by Ye-fei
Both are action-comedies that revolve around hitmen and the mafia. Reborn has WAY stronger characters, though. Even if it's not as good as the manga.
report Recommended by Melanon
Both main characters are assassins, leave their organisation and become influenced by the other characters to become "normal" Similar plot layout
report Recommended by krazeRRR1
These share the guns, the action, kids with weapons, fatherly figures and the use of assassins.
report Recommended by restivesilence
Both main characters work for an organization of assassins.
report Recommended by RJRavenger_BR
both anime talks about secret organizations that has "numbers" who has to save the world. In the EN dub, the main male leads are voice by the same person in HNE and BC. both number "X" have similar appearance and personality, in the EN dub both number "X"(Lin(BC) and Yuuki(HNE)) are voiced by the same VA . Same kind of story and feeling. And of corse alot of funny moments!

+Both have kickass female characters,Girls with gun. +Both have Wars, Military, weapons. +Both main character have sad past.
report Recommended by TrOjAnHoRsE
They are VERY different plot wise. Loveless is a boys love anime and blackcat is a dark action shounen and NOT a boys love anime. But they both have cat characters and a similar dark atmosphere.
report Recommended by cutefuko
Although these shows are far from perfect, that doesn't mean they aren't enjoyable. Both Gun x Sword and Black Cat have main characters who have a dark past. Also both series have a great cast of characters.

The world of magicians+espers vs the world of weapons users+Tao users. the character development steps are similar. Both of them are really worth to watch

In both Clamploo and Black Cat, individuals capable of holding their own groups together and travel together. Sometimes their styles can coexist other times they seem to bump heads.
