Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte

Nestled away on the rooftop of Tenikai General Hospital is the unconventional Department of Investigative Pathology headed by the eccentric Dr. Takao Ameku. The tiny department, consisting of Takao and her sole resident Yuu "Kotori" Takanashi, treats complex cases that most other departments within the hospital cannot resolve on their own.

The mystery-obsessed Takao always tries to insert herself into cases that capture her fancy—much to the dismay of her colleagues and the police. Even if her meddling creates more problems for the hospital and those around her, none can deny the brilliance that the young department head exhibits as she weaves a diagnosis together. No matter the specialty, no case is impossible for Takao and a somewhat reluctant Takanashi to solve.

Ameku M.D. is a brilliantly crafted series with compelling storytelling and complex, engaging characters. One of its standout qualities is the intriguing medical mysteries that often leave you guessing, keeping the narrative unpredictable and exciting.

Despite some criticism suggesting the anime conveys incorrect medical information, this claim doesn't hold up. The author’s medical degree lends authenticity and accuracy to the story, debunking such misconceptions. Moreover, while some might compare Ameku M.D. to House M.D., this is a surface-level observation. The series shines with its unique identity, offering a fresh and distinct take on medical dramas that sets it apart.

The protagonist, Takao, is particularly fascinating. Though she ... initially seems mature and almost superhuman in her abilities, the show skillfully peels back her layers. Beneath the surface, Takao is a young woman with insecurities and moments of irrationality, making her relatable and human. This complexity adds depth to her character, drawing viewers further into her journey.

Overall, Ameku M.D. is a remarkable series that stands out for its storytelling, character development, and genuine approach to its medical themes.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (10/12 eps)

Instead of watching the anime you'll be better off reading the manga.

Mainly going to be critisizing the animation here, but the story is like well, House MD.
But in anime terms it'll be like detective conan if it was medical. Or Apothecary Diaries if it was modern. The story itself isn't too bad, and I enjoy it.

Going on to the main part I have a issue with on this anime, the animation. To be honest the animation started off really good but then eventually fell off. Pulled a Uzumaki ngl.
The OP and ED animation is fire I love the color composition used and the way ... they drew the backgrounds for the OP. But the more the episdoes went on, the more the animation fell off. It looks really rushed, especailly how they draw the characters faces. The effects like the water and fire also looks super rushed like they spent their entire budget on the first few episdoes.

I was expecting better, especially of how promising the OP looked, not to mention some of the episdoes were delayed.

This show started with an outlandish case that seemed interesting, but its conclusion in episode two made me come to the following conclusion after seeing everything the criminal they unmasked did: why didn't he just bury the body?

The more episodes I watched, the more I realized why the protagonist is considered a genius. ALL THE OTHER CHARACTERS ARE STUPID! Not only should the guy in the first case have made the most obvious decision. All the other characters seem incapable of coming to simple conclusions. It's a medical anime, but the doctors can't diagnose their specialty without Ameku's help. There's an episode where a group ... of doctors are surprised when Ameku reveals the side effects of a medicine they had stored in the hospital's medicine cabinet.

In fact, Ameku is the stereotypical weird genius, but the plot makes no effort to make her sympathetic to the viewer. She's abusive to her assistant, trespasses on property, and disrespects fellow doctors in front of everyone. She is the most developed character, but all we know about her is that she is a genius and that she is eccentric. But it is easy to be a genius when everyone else is an idiot. And of course, she has a high position in the hospital because her grandfather owns it. It didn't seem like it was because she is a genius because everyone seems to hate her methods.

The other characters are even more shallow. There is her assistant who only serves to be humiliated by her, to be her babysitter or to get involved in supposedly romantic situations with the protagonist, but which are just embarrassing scenes. There is the nurse who only appears to ship Ameku and her assistant. There is the other doctor who hates Ameku because... well, she is Ameku. There is the detective who only appears to give details of police cases to Ameku on a silver platter. Oh, I forgot to say. They are only doctors as a hobby. This is an anime about detectives cosplaying as medical anime.

That said, I do not recommend it. I only watched this anime because a friend forced me to, but I do not expect anything from the end of this anime. For sure, the final mystery will be because some character did something really stupid and Dr. loli will need to explain to us while we evaluate which anime character deserves the dumbest character trophy.
