Blue Lock: Episode Nagi

Absolutely comedy gold. A BLLK manga reader and a BLLK anime watcher should not go into this movie expecting peak cinema—expect zero football and just Nagi and Reo being sus, then you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised at how goddamn funny this entire film is.

Watch it with a friend who knows Blue Lock. You guys will double over every two seconds at something hilarious on screen: whether it be Reo's gay-cringe monologues, Nagi's tired internal complaints and particle-effect galaxy brain thoughts, the low-budget crappy cut-aways, the ending Google Slides montage, the re-used 3D animation from the anime, and/or the fact that you get to watch ... Reo and Nagi 'break-up' for the fifth time (manga, anime, Episode Nagi manga, stageplay, and now the movie)... AND Reo started crying too with a whole mental illness flashback, like, this is literally the highest level of comedy we can get.

All the criticism of this show is entirely true and valid: it's a glorified recap with reused scenes and feels rushed at the end. But god, it's absolute cinema. Enjoyed every second laughing like a maniac at the way all of Isagi's relevance was shelved for Nagi hyper-focusing on Reo. Our Goatsagi had ONE moment of light-shine-upon-ye glory and that was instantly dwarfed by Reo starting to have a gay breakdown. Bachira's schizophrenia? Off the charts. Second selection with Rin, Barou, Chigiri, and Kunigami? They got shoved into the PPT slide at the end. To Nagi, apparently they're not relevant enough. But bathing with Reo and getting cold-shouldered? Holy comedy, the PPT stopped next-sliding to play back Reo's emo one-liners... So THAT was relevant to the already-nonexistent plot. We even get a shot of Reo and Nagi being dramatic which ended with benchwarmer Reo at post-credits. I lost it.

There were a few moments of great animation, but the rest of the movie was so comically bad I couldn't stop cackling. The bar was so low and they delivered. Exited the cinema lightheaded and high and couldn't stop laughing with my friend for an hour talking about the bad CGI and the vaguely homosexual moments. Would watch this trainwreck again. It's a great movie to sit back and laugh at and if you're in no mood to rewatch the anime before Season 2. Everything else is 4/10, but I genuinely recommend this because I had such a great afternoon wheezing. Solid 7 for being the first movie I've laughed through from start to finish. I won't be able to recover.

Story : Episode Nagi nothing special and it just recap episodes from perspectives of Nagi and Reo from Episode 1 to Episode 24 with additional footage of their school dominating others and interaction between Nagi, Reo and Zantetsu.

Animation, Sound Design looks Fine but not for Movie Version usually we see for Shonen Anime Films. It felt like watching TV Special similar to Haikyuu OVA The Arrival of Lev.

Among Characters, they given back story for Soccer "Idiot" Zantetsu which was fun.

I personally don't recommend but if your are hardcore Nagi Fan, you can watch otherwise I will recommend Blue Lock First Season is best version.

Let's wait ... for Season 2 titled "vs. U-20 Japan" in October 2024.

Blue Lock: Episode Nagi is…………………………..eh. Do you love Nagi? Have you forgotten some details from season 1? Do you wish to see more standard animation from Blue Lock compared to the atrocious animation in season 2? If you said yes to all 3 you’ll somewhat enjoy this movie….somewhat. I have no idea why but I really didn’t felt Reo and Nagi clicking any more than their couple of scenes in Season 1…which is a bad thing because this is their movie. I only felt a sweet moment between the two kinda ti’ll the last of the movie. Reo I’d say doesn’t get any more depth ... into his character than we knew from season 1, and the new info we learned about Nagi that was worth remembering is that he has a pet cactus. (I found that sweet XD) There’s another scene with Nagi that is also nice but that’s it.. Also Kira! We see him again….. I never knew something could have a faster pace than Chainsaw Man either but this movie did it. We go from point A to Z in a flash. Oh wait i forgot there’s actually a character that did get more noteworthy info but it just lasted minutes……which was Zansetsu? (I think that’s his name) It’s a shame that we never got to meet anyone else from their team….their just there. It’s also kinda lazy how they reuse some scenes from season 1….. There’s no new info that makes you go wow! This could had been an special rather than a movie and…. I can’t imagine this performed well in theaters………overall.

TLDR: Just a recap of season 1, 2+ additional decent looking blue lock animation and Nagi has a pet cactus.
