Japan, the world leader in animation, partners with Star Wars, the world's largest fantasy franchise. Visions consists of 9 stand alone animation shorts produced by 7 Japanese studios. It's professional fan fiction, pretty much.

Visions multiplies the franchise's coefficient of expansion. Most of the plot lines and varied animation styles are exotic: Anime fans should be the most pleased by the series. It is definitely in the ether with its imaginative plots and artwork. They did a smash-up job.

Disney/Lucasfilm is slowly gaining momentum on its crawl back to competence. Visions broadens the Lucasverse. It opens the ... hatch to allow us a clear perspective regarding the limitless courses that can be plotted in exploration of this high-flown cosmos.

Creators were given free reign as long as the stories remain consistent with the established history of a galaxy far, far away. The elevated pageantry is a farraginous mix of artistry, and storylines. Episode one, The Duel, is a dark, heavy, grunge style battle between a mysterious stranger and a Sith. Following, is Tatooine Rhapsody, a hand-drawn kids style cartoon about a rock band playing for Jabba. There are episodes that feel phantasmic, multidimensional, and almost eerie. The variety is such that, doubtless, each episode will have its champions and nitpickers, but that's part of the fun.

Visions can take the bridge next to Rogue One, The Mandalorian, and the Bad Batch. Confidence builders all, we can start to forgive "them" for The Phantom Menace, Revenge of the Sith, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, and Solo. Those 5 films are the fisted hand that blasted our guts. Visions is a direct hit from the ion cannon: It's helping to clear the debris field, allowing us safe passage to hitch a ride with them once more.

We can start to heal and trust again, maybe? Let's still take it one work at a time.

You can't just take any art style and slap it onto Star Wars, it doesnt work like that. About half of the episodes look like Anime made for children. Very questionable voice actor choices in some episodes aswell. Grandpa voice on a 45yo man doesnt fit. One episode isnt enough to tell a very intriguing story or flesh out characters so filling it with 90% dialogue isnt exactly a good way of making it entertaining. Some characters react completely illogical which doesnt help.

Some episodes were very enjoyable while others were unwatchable.

Just goes to show that just because a well known big ... studio makes something doesnt guarantee it's going to be good.

So yeah, this exists. Why, you may ask? Cuz it’s an easy way for Disney to make a cash grab and popularize Star Wars in the anime community. And let me just get started: this anime is awful.

First off, gotta explain the concept: 9 episodes, 9 studios making each one of those episodes. Got it? Now this could work, but in the short time each episode has they can only develop so much and the stories do not connect throughout the episodes.

The first episode was… not bad. It felt like Vagabond with lightsabers, the art style was fun and the plot was decent with ... the run time of the episode. Then it all went downhill, with episode 2. The episode was trash, the story was downright awful, the characters were annoying, the art took a major step back. But this wasn’t the worst episode. No, no, no, no. Episode 3 is utter garbage. Not only were the characters uninteresting but the consistency was terrible, I mean they literally fought in space without the effect of gravity or worrying about oxygen. The rest of the episodes kept the same amount of quality, and honestly I might be mentally ill to keep going to watch this terrible anime, but I like to finish things so I did. Characters were bland, bland stories, bland everything. As a huge Star Wars fans this anime dishonors the franchise and it should be burned to the ground so no one has to watch this piece of shit.

So do I recommend this? NO. This is by far the worst Star Wars content I’ve ever watched (yes I’ve watched the Sequels and Star Wars Resistance). Hope this helps :)
