Make My Day

No spoilers. Don't listen to the negative reviews. 99% of animes with this type of animation have a bad rating just because of that. This is an anime with a plot that, despite being cliché, is well built, fast and develops perfectly over 8 chapters (I wouldn't have minded seeing up to 12). If you like sci-fi, here are elements that fit very well: space, alien beasts, energy sources, robots and futuristic weapons, military, among others.

I want to highlight two anime mechanics that I like: the first, how the chains of command are continually challenged, both among the military and with respect to the prisoners. ... And secondly, I quite liked how they play with the element of the pregnancy of one of the main characters for the development of the plot: it is very well implemented and is important for the evolution of the story.

In short, and most importantly, the series is entertaining, if you like this genre. I give it a rating of 7.5, but I leave it at 7 because the anime is just "good", I wouldn't call it "very good" either. Additional note: a very interesting series to watch along with the anime "exception" which was released on netflix almost at the same time as "make my day" with which it also shares the genre of sci-fi, space and futuristic elements as well as reflection on life.

If you like Sci-Fi and Horror, then giving it a watch isn't too much to ask, 8 Eps. is quickly done usually.
Humanity on a different, distant ice-planet where horrors lurk in the deep down darkness.
I'll be honest, does this anime LOOK good, more or less.
Is the story a masterpiece, maybe not.
Yet I couldn't help myself from continuing to watch this through and enjoy most of the characters. Heck, it even made me cheer for a robot multible times, somethings that doesn't always happen.
Over all though, it's not a must watch but something nice to bite into if you got the time and you enjoy anything ... done with Space and Aliens.

Make My Day (2023)

Make My Day, well it did not. Whilst the story isn't the worst thing ever the show just feels like watching cutscenes from something around the early 2000s.

The story: Earth technology becomes advanced > people explore space > people find amazing clean energy source > people find fossils > fossils turn out to be sleeping aliens > aliens angry > energy source not so safe > rich people greedy > lots of people die > everyone stands in a line and tells us they want to make a new happy life elsewhere. Story ends. Oh, and the hero has 0 experience ... in anything but performs better than hardcore veterans of basically every single profession to ever exist.

Animation is the biggest issue here. The background, vehicles, and set as such look pretty good, they pass! The aliens and people suck like they are horrible and poorly designed. The way they make them look whilst running is really odd, they look like 2000s characters which could be an insult to 2000s characters actually. When static in a photo they don't look so bad.

The sound does nothing outstanding, you had the opportunity for some really great spacial sound but it is bog standard.

The characters are basically dad, kid, girlfriend, and girlfriend's mum with the rest being hardcore veterans of their trades and some robots. The aliens aren't characters because well, you'll see. The 'kid' or the main character Jim basically is new, part-time, and has no life experience apart from a pregnant girlfriend and yet performs better than everyone in every way possible.

The poster makes this look dark, gritty, sci-fi, and fun but in reality, it is 5/10. There are many much worse shows that have existed out there and if the animation was better maybe you could forgive this show, CGI is obviously at the moment either top-notch or terrible, there seems to be absolutely no in-between.
