Seeing that this show barely has a 6.8 rating, I feel obliged to leave a review and, between a 9-10, give it a final rating of 10. The low rating is not a surprise, since it is already a common occurrence in Netflix anime (people are allergic to it or something and just rate it badly) and also in anime that are a bit more complex and different than the average, which is usually flooded with clone anime, fanservice, etc.
That said, The Grimm Variations offers incredibly well-made, original and creative adaptations of classic tales. This is very difficult to do, it can even be harder
...
than starting a story from scratch. The differences are so great that they seem like completely new stories, and this is perfect, because only the most essential symbols in common with the original tales have been kept.
I have seen people complain that the first two chapters are the best, and that from there it goes downhill. I'm sorry, but you are very unfair. The stories are different, with different approaches, and I'm glad that not all of them fall into horror, gore, etc. Each story has its strong points and invites deep reflection. I agree that the first chapters are great, and in fact you could make an entire anime just with Little Red Riding Hood, which is surely the most popular, but that's not the case. We have some stories that are more relaxed than others and it would be very boring to give them all the same approach, and this is where creativity and the nature of the stories themselves come into play, which lend themselves more to some changes than others. Even so, some elements in common in all the stories are manipulation, deception, madness and false beliefs, so to speak.
The last chapter is great, and I like its subtlety... yes, I'm sure people expected all the people in the town to die or for Maria to throw herself off the cliff at the end, but it's not necessary. The chapter already has its dose of violence. I don't know what else you want. I also like the fourth chapter, although it is very relaxed... all the stories have an aura of mystery, of enigma and it leaves you with the feeling that at any second something unexpected can happen and leave you speechless.
Finally, I want to highlight how in just 40 minutes the chapters allow you to connect perfectly with the protagonists and feel complete and satisfying. I find it incredible. I don't usually watch anthologies, or unconnected chapters of independent stories, and I didn't expect anything at all from this anime, but the surprise has been incredible. I couldn't stop watching them and they seemed much shorter than an anime with its standard duration of 12 chapters, to which this anime is more or less equivalent with its 6 chapters of 40-50 minutes (including opening and ending).
My most sincere congratulations. Please, let them release more adaptations of classic tales. I didn't know 2 of the 6 stories, but there are many that I do know and I would love to see them adapted by the Grimm brothers.

I didn't know anything about Gamera, I had only heard the name, although I do know about kaijus, Godzilla and Ultraman. I loved this series. Veteran fans who have been talking about Gamera from 1965 are very annoying, seriously, you can't see everything the same as you did 60 years ago. If we had to judge everything by the original canons, nothing would ever be right, because the original is almost always the best, so don't be annoying.
And then there are those who directly suspend the series for having this type of animation. Netflix has already released quite a few series like this (quite good
...
by the way), and that's okay, for me it's not my favorite style of animation, but this animation fits very well with the type of anime it is. I found the kaijus spectacular, as well as the battles, which is the main thing. In addition, I found the story quite entertaining and much better than I expected. It's not easy to make a compelling story when you know that there is a pattern for each chapter where a new kaiju, gamera, and fight will always appear.
That Gamera has an average rating of between 6 and 7 with these two previous handicaps, means that the series is really 8 and 9, or at least, 7 to 8. These series with this type of animation do not go beyond "fine" by default is already a classic that surprises no one. This is one of those series where you can't trust the MA rating.
Extra: The opening is ****** amazing, worthy of the best shounen arc of naruto, bleach, one piece or boku no hero.

This second part is very good, although it is not excellent, that is why I gave it an 8. I gave the first part a 9 and I gave the original bleach a 10, to put it in context. After the news of the return of bleach, the anime has returned to its old ways, with dozens of battles with an excess of secondary characters that do not interest me at all, both quincies and shinigami. For me the strong points of this second part are the scenes related to the quincies' past, as well as when they explain the reason for everything and everything
...
that happens in the spirit king's palace.
The battles follow a very marked pattern where it seems that I defeat you but no, then you defeat me but no, then I defeat you again and so on infinitely until they decide that enough is enough. This acts as a filler for the whole life as in the original series. When this happens with secondary characters and there are too many of them, it becomes tiresome. On the other hand, when it happens with the main battles and with the strongest characters, it's fine, because that's what's really interesting. Ichigo's participation in this second part is rather low, so his presence is also missing. He doesn't even appear for the final chapter and it ends a bit abruptly.
I hope that for the third part they stop filling and bring us the resolution of the quincy arc, which at times seemed to advance very quickly and at times dragged on forever. There is a bit of strange pacing.

This anime has surprised me and I liked it a lot, but it has left a bittersweet taste in me because halfway through the series I thought it might deserve a 10, but it is deflating and the last chapter is very rushed, so I had to give it a thumbs up. 8. If anyone is interested, I am a man.
What is most surprising at first is the exchange of roles (although the series itself reveals that there has not been a reversal of roles; and it is true, since basically the women deal with what they already dealt with, in addition to working and
...
Men only dedicate themselves to procreate and are in great demand for it). The first chapter lasts almost 1h and 20 minutes and is truly captivating, where a story is presented. But in the following 9 standard-length episodes, they present another related but different story, with different protagonists. It's a shame, because I expected the series to have a more agile development to pick up the present and close both stories, but it didn't. The first story goes completely into oblivion and the second story develops at a good pace, but from chapter 6-7 there is hardly any big development, mostly consists of concubines, pregnancies and simple romances... the story becomes very superficial, although the key themes of the anime continue to be dealt with, which are prostitution, LGTB issues, empowerment of women, gender violence, new masculinities and exploitation of men... and for this reason the series continues to be very interesting even if it loses some strength.
Among other lessons, logically, related to the role of women and that are obvious, I would like to highlight the lessons related to men. The series evidences the exploitation that men suffer, working in the hardest jobs and carrying the responsibility of the family, which consumes their lives because it is socially accepted and established that they are the ones who must deal with these heavy burdens.
Overall, I liked the anime, but I think it had more potential and that it needs a second season, where more weighty events take place. It would be nice if they brought back the story of the first chapter, so we know how it progresses from there (which is supposed to be the current time). Also to say that the setting is great, the whole theme of kimonos, samurais and other characteristic aspects of the time, which makes it a very immersive anime.

Digimon Ghost Game is like watching Gegege no Kitaro, but watered down. Do not expect this anime to return Digimon to glory: it is a set of self-contained stories, which can be entertaining and that play with a large cast of evil digimon and typical Japanese folklore stories and themes to reflect on, although without going too deep. It's disappointing to see how the opportunity to make a good story has been lost. The story is non-existent and is stupidly explained and resolved in the last three chapters, since throughout the series the story barely develops. GulusGammamon takes center stage in the series in his
...
few appearances, which is when you think the central story is going to move forward but absolutely nothing happens.
In short, an anime that has little of Digimon and a lot of Gegege no Kitaro or other similar series, but also lacks the development of a central story, which is extremely superficial and simple and only develops at the end. Although I would give it a 5, I'm giving it a 6 because this is "Digimon" and we want more Digimon. I positively value the attempt to do something different, the format of self-contained stories that a certain audience may like and the diversity of digimon that appear, giving prominence to the evil versions and evil digimons.
Will we ever see a Digimon similar to Digimon 1, 2, 3 or 4 again? I see it difficult, the truth, after Digimon Ghost and the disastrous remake of Digimon Adventure, I don't see them with the talent or the desire to make an anime that returns Digimon to its glory days.

No spoilers. Don't listen to the negative reviews. 99% of animes with this type of animation have a bad rating just because of that. This is an anime with a plot that, despite being cliché, is well built, fast and develops perfectly over 8 chapters (I wouldn't have minded seeing up to 12). If you like sci-fi, here are elements that fit very well: space, alien beasts, energy sources, robots and futuristic weapons, military, among others.
I want to highlight two anime mechanics that I like: the first, how the chains of command are continually challenged, both among the military and with respect to the prisoners.
...
And secondly, I quite liked how they play with the element of the pregnancy of one of the main characters for the development of the plot: it is very well implemented and is important for the evolution of the story.
In short, and most importantly, the series is entertaining, if you like this genre. I give it a rating of 7.5, but I leave it at 7 because the anime is just "good", I wouldn't call it "very good" either. Additional note: a very interesting series to watch along with the anime "exception" which was released on netflix almost at the same time as "make my day" with which it also shares the genre of sci-fi, space and futuristic elements as well as reflection on life.

I don't usually do reviews, but seeing the average score of 6.6 I had to do it. If you grew up like me with Tekken video games, you will love this anime. Watching it is like playing an Arcade game of Tekken 3, through one of the most iconic characters, Jin Kazama. I finally understood who that green final boss was that I didn't know why I had to face at the end of the arcade.
The story is very good if one of your favorite characters was Jin and the combat scenes are simply spectacular, including all the super famous moves of several especially
...
iconic characters and the particles and lights when hitting and even defending. Those impossible grapples and combos, combining ground and aerial attacks that you spent so many hours practicing are in the series, I love it! It's like reliving your childhood all over again in this anime! The animation, the setting, the drawing style, is really good, I was surprised.
The anime is a breath of fresh air and personality among so many anime that are clones of each other. Hopefully they release many more seasons and we can see and learn many more story arcs.
I could give it an 8, but I give it a 9 for nostalgia and to support the production of more seasons, since an average of 6.6 seems to me to be a very unfair mark that is not true to reality :D

First of all, thank you Netflix. Thank you for your support of anime. This anime gives me mixed feelings, but it doesn't seem like a bad anime at all, as so many negative reviews say. With so many negative reviews looking at stupid aspects in a repellent way, the only thing that is achieved is that platforms like Netflix stop supporting anime production and that the anime industry loses, and nobody wants that!
I quite agree with the review from @CodeBlazeFate who also gives it a 6. I would like to point out that for me the weakest thing is the development of the characters, of
...
which I expected more, and the inconsistencies in the plot (for example, saki super sick in chapter 1 and then becoming very powerful without training). I liked the animation a lot, as well as the fight scenes, and the mechas, although they are worse, do not bother me. Everything else seems OK to me. I agree that it is not the best anime of the year hahahaha but in a way it has been entertaining to finish it ... and believe me, if I were bored I would not have passed chapter 1.
My grade, as I said, is a 6, but it could be a 6.5 or a 7, and this is also my way of supporting the original anime production. I think the path is the right one and it is a matter of time and of continuing to improve.

An interesting anime, with a different approach from the Roman Empire. Although the plot is trite, there are not many anime about gladiators and I really like that (some points remind of Spartacus).
In this anime you can expect many martial arts with different styles (pugilist, pancracio...), training and combat routines, rivalries between the protagonists and the intrigulis typical of the Roman era.
I was quite surprised by one thing, it seems that none of the protagonists like violence or do not want to fight, rather the opposite: they all have in common that they want to free themselves from their chains and be free to choose
...
the type of life they want to live. It seems to me something distinctive, which has surprised me because I had not seen it until now. I am looking forward to seeing how it evolves.
About the music and the style of drawing, everything ok. Regarding the animations, sometimes they are a bit regular, and the truth is that I like the animations of the first chapter more than those of the second (they change the type of animation, suddenly XD). At the moment it seems like a series of 7, but depending on how it evolves perfectly it could go down to 6, or up to 8. I recommend giving it a try if you like these topics: history, gladiators, Roman empire, martial arts, fighting, blood and sand ;)))
Edit: I had to change my review, since from chapter 3 on, the series becomes almost completely a very bad CGI...in the first chapter the animation was normal, and in the second there was a combination... Starting from the third, a CGI is abused that I always tolerate, but this time it seemed too bad, especially because of the change and contrast from chapter 1 to 3... I abandoned the series and did not continue it. Maybe one day XD

After watching many series, it is increasingly difficult to find good anime. Just 2 or 3 new anime are worth each season. Of the recent Netflix originals, Dragon's Dogma is pretty good. What is more difficult, it made me want to continue watching it, when I finished one chapter I wanted to see another: 7 chapters have passed very quickly. Although the series is not a masterpiece, with a CGI that not everyone will like, nor a story that everyone will like (especially if you come from the video game), it develops each self-concluding chapter very well, with a touch that reminds of Berserk, which
...
It suits him really well. The mythical creatures, the medieval setting and two main characters that evolve in a very short space of time, gives a lot of life to the series. Treating each of the chapters as capital sins seems to me a success that never goes out of style. There is also deep content to discuss (for example, human nature) and not just empty and superficial dialogue as in most current anime. My grade is 9, not because it really deserves it (I would give it a 7-7.5 or so), but to encourage Netflix to make more and better series of this type (some of the ones it released in 2019 seemed to me lousy). By the way, the Japanese dubbing seems like the original to me and it's much better than in English.
