Even though the similarities in name are coincidental, they are two sides of a coin. If you'd like to continue learning about the Takarazuka Revue, it's a good idea to pick up the other. If you watched Revue Starlight, Kageki Shoujo is a grounded and more realistic portrayal of the series' conflicts. If you watched Kageki Shoujo, Revue Starlight's metaphorical delivery might be easier to grasp when you already know the structures that are being critiqued.

Both animes have characters that follow some tropes but they're gonna face the reality of the industry of the entertainment and how sometimes that can make difficult follow a dream. Both are filled of comedy and drama that are well handled, also the direction and the voice actors of both animes make more special some moments. The characters develop their relationships as the plot goes, and in my opinion it's highly probable that by the end of the series you will have affection for the characters.

Both series revolve around the world of acting, and have characters learning from scratch. Some talents blossom and rivalries intensify, while other characters struggle to keep up. Great character development.

- both take place at school - focuses on many characters but two main characters (kumiko + reina for hibike!) - give same vibe like always striving to be the best --> both are very motivational in that way?? lol - similar relationships/dynamics between characters

They are both about high-schoolers in the entertainment industry and their struggles, it also has a stalker. It's light-heatred with lovable characters

While only one title uses supernatural highjinks, both are takes on the all-female Takarazuka Revue.

Both series are driven by the development their characters through fairly niche themes (soft-tennis for HoshiSora and Takarazuka Revue for Kageki Shoujo!!). Care is taken when exploring each characters' backstories and diverse personalities, even when bringing up difficult topics such as abuse. If HoshiSora left you yearning for more of the budding friendships between troubled characters despite all of their differences, but want a more lighthearted experience: try watching Kageki Shoujo!! If you enjoyed the drama and darker themes found in Kageki Shoujo and want more of that, but still also want a cute ensemble cast (including two contrasting main protagonists) who gradually learn to get along:  read more

Both anime are set in schools and have a diverse cast of personalities striving to better their art, whether it be singing and acting or playing koto.

Have you ever wondered how tough it was for girls to love rakugo? The ancient art of storytelling is reserved for males to perform. Both series touch on the subject of girls loving to perform rakugo. The world of theatre, drama and passionate young individuals with interesting backstories aiming to perform better for the audience is the main similarity in the two series.

The dynamic of the two MCs (Miki/Aya and Ai/Sarasa) are very similar. Each have their strengths and weaknesses and as the story continues, they help each other and become more well-rounded people.

Anime about theater actors were rare nowadays. Luckily, these shows presented in all-male characters and all-female characters within their perspectives. Each characters designed to have their background story to be told that made them as an inspirations towards on the passion of acting.

School setting, beautiful animation, one of the main characters in kageki shoujo is slightly reserved when it comes to communicating with people, fun slice of life elements with the drama executed perfectly, however characters are more realistic and less exaggerated as compared to komi san so if you are looking for something with similar vibes but with more drama this is the one to go

Both of these anime are gorgeous, character-driven dramas. Kageki Shoujo doesn't really have any romance, but it does have the same beautiful character development that drove Fruits Basket to its astronomical status. I think that if more people watched Kageki Shoujo, it would reach the same status in the community that Fruit Basket already has. Both of these anime are among my all-time favorites, and I believe that anyone who enjoys one will enjoy the other as well.

Teenagers trying to get into the competitive world of performing arts. Also main characters are kind of similar (Junpei == Sarasa, Ruou == Ai).

Both of them take place in a prestige, noble setting with an all-girls surrounding. The MCs in both shows resemble each other, Sarasa and Yumi being energetic and positive and their counterparts Sachiko and Ai being more distant with a cold and cool aura. Both shows give off the same Shoujo and Drama vibes and are generally very similar to each other.

Both anime are about female friendships and trying to excel in show business. Skip Beat is lighter and more comedic. Kageki Shoujo deftly handles serious issues. Both have fabulous audition sequences.

Both series revolve around acting, and heavily feature the classical kabuki theater. Team spirit, following dreams and being distanced from the "regular world" are important themes in both. Kabuki-bu! focuses fully on the world of kabuki, while in Kageki Shoujo!!, kabuki plays a big role, although the main characters strive to be musical actresses.

Both are about personal issues what girls are being affected by in today's world. Like sexual abuse, self-harm, beauty standards and etc.
report Recommended by Piko
Both are all-female protagonist ensemble casts about girls doing their best in a school setting, supporting each other, and coming of age. In both shows the stories each of the main girls, who are each interesting in their own right, is explored in depth. Basically, both fundamentally happy shows, yet with some dark/mature/trauma-involving undertones. Both are great shows.

Both of these shows take place in an all-girls school and highlight many social trials between the main characters as well as the side characters. Though Oniisama e... is definitely more on the darker end of the spectrum when it comes to highlighting these trials, Kageki Shoujo has its fair share of nail-biting and dark tones akin to Oniisama e... As such, Kageki Shoujo gives me the same vibes of Oniisama e... I'd say that Oniisama e... is Kageki Shoujo's darker, broodier cousin.

Both involve girls who go to school to become singers. Both show how hard the performance industry is and show the girls being bullied. Both also have some unexpected darker themes.
report Recommended by PoisonBee
Both are really similar in the artistic theme and vibe. Kiniro is more of an straight Harem version of Kageki. Kageki is more of a shoujo-ai one. Both deal with music, and performing. Kiniro is more centered on music when Kageki is more of acting. Both deal with talented flowers yet to bloom. Both have romance : Kiniro is more of an harem romance when kageki is each own characters with their own story and dramas.

Differing atmospheres, but both are occupational-based ensemble cast shows that cut unexpectedly real about their respect fields and the genuine human struggles surrounding them.
