Both are all-female protagonist ensemble casts about girls doing their best in a school setting, supporting each other, and coming of age. In both shows the stories each of the main girls, who are each interesting in their own right, is explored in depth. Basically, both fundamentally happy shows, yet with some dark/mature/trauma-involving undertones. Both are great shows.
