Even though the similarities in name are coincidental, they are two sides of a coin. If you'd like to continue learning about the Takarazuka Revue, it's a good idea to pick up the other. If you watched Revue Starlight, Kageki Shoujo is a grounded and more realistic portrayal of the series' conflicts. If you watched Kageki Shoujo, Revue Starlight's metaphorical delivery might be easier to grasp when you already know the structures that are being critiqued.

Both anime are inspired by the Takarazuka Revue. Both have amazing OSTs, incredible character development, and drama. However, Revue Starlight has more action, since it was based on a PvP game developed by Bushiroad while Kageki Shoujo was based on a shoujo manga. If you want the action, go with Revue Starlight and if you want drama that deals with real-life issues, go with Kageki Shoujo.

Both animes are based off the Takarazuka Revue. If that’s what originally attracted you to watch Kageki Shoujo, try Revue Starlight! If the following aspects described below are what you’re looking for, Revue Starlight is definitely a show for you: Plot-wise, they’re kinda similar; both focusing on character bonds and competitiveness. The way they handle character developments are top notch; neither glossed over nor taking up too many episodes to get there. It’s also done efficiently. Lastly, there’s the OSTs, something I really loved about both animes. The ED of Kageki Shoujo is similar to the insert songs played in Revue Starlight, so if you’re interested   read more

Both series' theme is a drama revue within the school. You will have the same feeling when watching the characters grow and evolve. Both series tell the story of the main characters wanting to be on top. Also, both of the OSTs from each series have the same vibe and is very likeable.

Both take place in an all-girls boarding school for stage performing arts. Kageki Shoujo is more down to earth and focuses on real life drama, whereas Revue Starlight is more epic/eccentric and has supernatural elements
