Both animes have characters that follow some tropes but they're gonna face the reality of the industry of the entertainment and how sometimes that can make difficult follow a dream.
Both are filled of comedy and drama that are well handled, also the direction and the voice actors of both animes make more special some moments.
The characters develop their relationships as the plot goes, and in my opinion it's highly probable that by the end of the series you will have affection for the characters.

Kageki and Idolish7 are good examples of why we shouldn't underestimate an anime for their cover or how their looks.
Both series are about the characters reaching their dreams but also how the industry and world that they lived in make eveything sometimes so difficult to make them true.
The music is a nice touch that both animes handle well, but definetily their strongess is how they can touch dramatic and emotional moments (some of them really dark) in such charming characters that you gonna support and be attached to.
Both series touches darker topics and dramas than you can expect from the cover.
In both animes the characters gonna learn to express themselves through the art (music in Idolish7 and the theatre in Kageki Shoujo)
And in my opinion the amazing way to develop the characters is what shine the most in both series.
Both series have a long cast of characters involved in the same field.
In both animes the characters gonna develop their relationship in a realistic way, both animes have good drama that touches issues pretty dark.
The series follow the characters and how they face the different obstacles of the entertainment industry too
