They're both directed by Miyazaki and created at Studio Ghibli. They're both adventure films that have air pirates. Also, the two main characters in both are an engineer and a mysterious character somehow affected by magic.

both anime involvo a superb pilot with a quality that their respective societies find detestable in some way. both also involve beautiful women who help the pilot in significant ways

-Flying/planes is the main theme in both movies. -In both movies the main character is based on a real person. -Both are Hayao Miyazaki movies. Main difference -In The Wind Rises the mc designs planes and in Porco Rosso the mc flies a plane.

Both are adventure anime where the main character is a pig. They are lighthearted and cheerful, with a similar mood and atmosphere. They both also have pirates. The main difference between the two anime is the setting, as Porco Rosso is set in post-WWI Italy, while Buta is set in Japan.

Both of these are aviation and love themed movies even though Blue Thermal can't compete with the talent Miyazaki poured into Porco Rosso.

Both the movies have the same "afternoon, adventure, all family movie" vibe, with the script being kinda predictable, especially on Lupin case, but with a good energy and characters fighting against nazis.

Both of these animes have those nostalgic vibes of the past that give the stories their "romantic"/ wistful feel to them. Dang, that sounded like a long shot, but I'm not far off. In any case, both of them produced similar feelings for the viewer: me.

Similar alternate world time line involving technology and weapons including open cockpit planes. Neither are really "steampunk" but have a bit of that feel about them. Porco Rosso is far more lighthearted than The Boy Who Saw the Wind but still touches on the pain caused by war, Porco more from a veteran's standpoint and TBWStW from that of an child caught up in it. Both can be enjoyed as fun and fanciful but both touch on some deeper stuff if you want to go there. Both are excellent.

Both take place in the Adriatic Sea. Both masterpieces.

Both stories share the theme of flight and carefully detail the hand-making of a flying machine. They are also similar in their realism and subtlety. The Wings of Honneamise is hard sci-fi while Porco Rosso follows a lighthearted (yet mature) fantasy. Bottom line: both are old school classics that can't be missed!

Both master movies by Hayao Miyazaki. Both beautifully done. Full of adventure though odd porco rosso is, it's wonderful.

Porco Rosso and Mononoke Hime have really nothing much in common, except the fact that both of them were created by Miyazaki. But if you enjoyed Princess Mononoke, you'll surely enjoy Porco Rosso. Animation is beautiful in both movies, and stories, in yet so different settings, bring up a battle of 2 men against the curse they've brought upon themselves. Enjoy.
