Solid review on Kimi no Iro, especially agree with that point on confessions, creators are clearly disconnected with the setting and ideologies they are trying to portray there.

Its pretty nice so far. Endearing atmosphere with lots of cute scenes and characters. I like that the ribbon and transformations are mostly used to explore characters and bring out fun and unexpected interactions and not for saving the world or fight the usual evil stuff. Its very grounded, but other than this it also has its typical coming of age and romance antics. Kobayashi's backgrounds/art direction really stands out. The designs and animation on the other hand are pretty standard.

I for myself thought it was a good Gundam series, one of my favorite ones actually.
I really liked the music and some of its concepts/ the way they executed certain things in the Anime. The whole concept of Kihel and Dianna was also pretty nice, in my opinion.

As we all know, opinions tend to disagree, though it seems the general census seems to be in favor of Turn A.
What one person likes, will, perhaps, be hated by another one. You could argue that the art of recycling a main theme OST in at least three other OST's is but a cheap trick to get more tracks into your Anime, whereas others could think it is brilliant. At the end it is up to each one of us whether we will like or hate it. And top rated stuff on MAL usually is but trash anyways. :)

If it were not for the aforementioned points and the fact that I quite enjoyed nearly all of its 50 episodes, I surely would not hold Turn A as dear as I do. Will that glory fade with time however? As much as I hope it does not, only time will tell, when I shall encounter another great piece of work that lets me question Turn A's standing not only in my list, but also in my heart.
