These are both "case file" mystery anime that are not about gruesome murders or serial killing but about other more mundane topics such as paintings/art and jewels. Both of these anime are very relaxing to watch, kind of like the feeling of drinking tea while sitting on the deck of your backyard. Both are also novel adaptations and I would say they're both Josei or Seinen demographic.

Both have male leads who have a friendship that runs deep and would almost make some believe that they are lovers. Both have a work together and lean on one another through the odds are faced even when they aren't being honest. Both have drama related to the past and things that need to be dealt with for the sake of their future lives.

-Both anime's mains are duos who solve problems together -FKBU is more into the serious type, while jr is a light-hearted anime about jewels. -JR is more into showing the different types of love. -The visuals are aesthetically pleasing and relaxing.

Both are similar in the way that the plot starts off with a European man having an encounter with a Japanese man and ends up dragging them into their fields of work. Both European characters appear to carry heavy pasts. They have some episodes that are episodic in nature as well as some episodes that deal with exploring the stories of their main characters further. Great Pretender has more of a thriller and suspense factor while Case Files of Jeweler Richard mostly deals with a more lighthearted atmosphere. Both have lots of drama.

Both shows have a different story in each episode. It is a more relaxed anime and you don't feel like you just can't wait for the next week. On the other hand, they still make you came back for more. In addition, there's a repetition of one (bartender) or two (Housekishou Richard-shi no Nazo Kantei) main character(s), and the stories are brought each time from another stranger perspective.

a pair of men solving cases on a day-to-day basis the detective figure is even-tempered, his assistant is more hot-headed the detective figure has an implied dark past the jeweler anime talks more about jewelry and "kamonohashi ron" is closer to conventional detective anime

Pretty European boy x Japanese guy - This one is just more queer bait-y!

I definitely recommend Tsuritama if you liked this anime! They both have unique premises and are both surprisingly interesting! Tsuritama also has beautiful visuals and is extremely refreshing! Tsuritama is about fishing, and much like Housekishou Richard-shi no Nazo Kantei, sounds pretty boring at first but I definitely recommend giving it a shot. The interactions are also really fun to watch, just like this anime. It's heavily underrated so go watch it, it's only 12 episodes, so go on, I'll wait.

Similar dynamic and ending with similar looking characters.

Both anime feature the development of a deep friendship between two men, that get to know each other through the challenges they face, that kind of relationship that makes them go the extra mile for each others. Sk8 does not have the drama mystery genre, feature case solving, which made me a bit hesitant to recommend it at first, but the connection and dynamic between the main characters are in the similar realm for those who are looking for that male-friend-could-be-romance-if-you-want-to-interpent-it-that-way style - I think it's worth a watch :)

We all know you love to get queerbaited while watching something that has a good plot and this is exactly what you'll get while watching The Case Files of Jeweler Richard.

Both stories introduce an enigmatic man who uncovers mysteries or delves into the psychological aspects and dark pasts and desires of the people involve in the case they are handling. In Petshop of Horrors, Count D, the main protagonist, uses weird and unusual pets to explore the dark sides of humans while in Housekishou Richard-shi no Nazo Kantei, Richard, the main protagonist, bring out mysteries to light with the use of the gems and jewelries. Both characters love tea and has a strong fondness to sweets.

Main guys solve clients problems instead of giving regular service. One of mains has mysterious (= dark and sad) past.

A nice place closed off from the busy world. A master with great sense to discover the deep secrets of people. An apprentice, who clearly has no idea what they are doing and are gradually getting the hang of it by the later episodes. And of course the genre: spichological mystery, the lives, emotions, relationships, actions, decisions and perhaps fate of men and women.

Both shows are about the "friendship" between two dudes who never cross that very thin line, except for the fact that the source material for both does everything but say that they're gay. In both shows, the presumed seme is someone who has a dark past, and ofc the presumed uke is the one who helps him get over his issues.

Two main male characters, a self-proclaimed hero with a huge love for justice and a policeman. If you "shipped" Richard and Seigi, then you will definitely appreciate the relationship of Masayoshi and Goto-san and perhaps even get infinitely more satisfaction from the ending.

Both series circle in a duo that solve mysteries with one of the character being extremely experienced and knowledgeable over a certain field. For Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru they collect and decode the case through bones while in Housekishou Richard-shi no Nazo Kantei they use gems / jewelries.
