Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online

Clad in desert pink and the size of a mere child, the infamous "Pink Devil" mercilessly hunts down other players in the firearm-centered world of the virtual reality game Gun Gale Online. But in real life, this feared player killer is not quite who anyone would expect.

A shy university student in Tokyo, Karen Kohiruimaki stands in stark contrast to her in-game avatar—in fact, she happens to stand above everyone else too, much to her dismay. Towering above all the people around her, Karen's insecurities over her height reach the point where she turns to the virtual world for an escape. Starting game after game in hopes of manifesting as a cute, short character, she finally obtains her ideal self in the world of Gun Gale Online. Overjoyed by her new persona, she pours her time into the game as LLENN, garnering her reputation as the legendary player killer.

However, when one of LLENN's targets gets the best of her, she ends up meeting Pitohui, a skilled yet eccentric woman. Quickly becoming friends with Karen, Pitohui insists that LLENN participates in Squad Jam, a battle royale that pits teams against one another, fighting until only one remains. Thrust into the heated competition, LLENN must fight with all her wit and will if she hopes to shoot her way to the top.

Overall:
Ah yes, a girl played a VR game and is having fun in an immersive VR game. As an isekai junkie, I am set to watch all isekai. This is one of those that explore the trope. And I would say, this exceeded my expectations a little bit. I put this in a "Pretty good" tier. It is a spin-off from the granddad of isekai afterall

Driving deeper
Art: Nice to some degree, not breathtaking by any means. The effects are nice and flashy, it served its purpose. Pretty good, 8/10

Character: Nice development, with some decent twists, and some decent backstory. not much to say, ... it is standard by most degrees. But well, who wouldn't enjoy cute girls doing cute things? 8/10

Plot: I would say, it is relatively standard for a VR game isekai, the MC enjoys the game and keeps getting better and better. Nothing really shocking happened, a surprise at most, I am sure most of my isekai junkie homies could see this coming. Anyway, 7.5/10

Conclusion: a good treat for an isekai enjoyer. A decent watch for a normal anime enjoyer. Mainstream enjoyer can ignore this one

8/10 for me.
Pretty good tier, if you enjoy watching girl-playing games, this is the one to watch. It is just that this type of genre usually isn't enjoyed by everyone.

Mixed Feelings

I just finished rewatching it for the second time since it came out, probably about 5 or 6 years ago since the last time I watched it.
For some scenes and storylines I even forgot about them.
Since there is a second season, I watched it again to find out how the storyline developed from the beginning.

The first thing I want to say is, I don't really like female MCs, but since this is still part of SAO I watched it.
For character design, graphics, and others, I think there is no need to question the quality, it is already very good and does not reduce the ... value of the previous SAO Anime at all.

The downside for me is the storyline itself, I like battle anime, but having a female main character makes me dislike it a little.
And what I don't like the most is Pitohui, I don't understand why a crazy character like this is included in the story, but if I think back to the other SAO series, crazy characters are always there.
However, the difference here is that Pitohui is included as a main character, while the others are only supporting characters or antagonists.

After seeing Pitohui's character again I'm hesitant to watch the second season, but since I'm a fan of SAO I'll watch it even though I'm hesitant.

Addition! Please make a sequel to the main story of SAO soon, I can't wait to see what happens to Kirito and his friends, thank you!

I cannot describe how utterly disappointing this shit is. I had this hyped up by my friends as GGO but actually written well and was super excited bc i love all the worlds in the SAO series just hate the plots. I want to clarify to anyone looking to watch this, and with a similar mindset i had, this is 1000 times worse than anything written in SAO. It starts of with a great concept as any of the other stories and characters you could see being interesting, but dont worry, this series does just as much to throw it all away. My first point ... is the sheer amount of pedophile/loli shit represented in this, its literally 75% of the humor of the entire show. There are very questionably aged relationships and idolization of childlike partners. My next point is the characters. There is not a SINGLE instant of growth in any of the characters mindsets or personalities to the point where the villain of the story, does not stop their villainous shit by the end and there is no actual resolution. Now i want to talk about the writing. i swear to god not a single scene flowed into another, every single character is written with 2 personality traits (one to identify them, and the other being i hate my life so im someone else online *it also proceeds to never give an explanation outside of 2 characters*), no plot points are explained OR resolved, the writers constantly decide to skip over important information when moving from one point to another, and they write everyone like a damn psychopath. This whole show is garbage and i pray to God the creators of SAO never write a story again.
