Doubutsu no Mori

Both are based around notable video game series from Nintendo that tell their own stories within their worlds and have a focus on humor and what day to day life is like in those worlds too. 

The animal crossing movie and Flying Witch series is similar because both animes have the storyline of a girl moving to a new town. To me both animes are like slices of life with a twist of fantasy and adventure, I personally prefer the Animal crossing movie as I am a big fan of animal crossing also I dropped flying witch towards the end but idk maybe you'll like it.  

Both movies carry similar themes (a girl on her own for the first time and learning to believe in yourself). They also both have a charming, relaxing, and innocent feeling to them. If you like one you're sure to like the other! 

Both are lighthearted funny anime for kids (mostly girls I guess) with a girl main character accompanied by (stuffed) animal friends. 

Both are based on popular Nintendo based games and share characters carrying around a stuffed animal. 

Different genres but both are as relaxing & peaceful stories in a fantasy world, enjoyable regardless of gender or age.  

Both are really good and faithful movie adaptions of their respective source material. They also both have stories that are completely original, and not directly taken from one of the games, so if you’re a longtime fan of either, you’ll still enjoy them. 

Both have a Japanese vibe. They include stubborn men, and a childish nature. They are both great animes, even though their times are many years apart.  

Both are cute, and give off a relaxing aura. 

Like Animal Crossing, My Neighbor Totoro is centered around an independent young girl (actually, 2) seeking adventure and finding it in a handful of cute and loveable creatures, in this case, a giant bunny-like tree spirit called Totoro. 

These are very similar for character wise. There are lots of cute animals and chibiness. The stories are both very cute.  

Both involves a human main character surrounded by animal/monsters. Both are adorably animated. They both have a simple childish plotline. 

Both have humans and animals living in the same environment with the animals being able to speak human language. Animal Crossing is based off of a game while Shirokuma Cafe is an adaptation of manga. 

Both are about the main character(s) going to a new place and getting to know how life works there. While one is about moving in and one is about a short visit, they both do a good job showing off the lifestyle of their settings. Both are relaxing, lighthearted, and good to unwind with. They are both more enjoyable if you are familiar with the original franchises, but can be enjoyed as stand-alone movies. 

Both are "made for kids but enjoyable by everyone" tales about talking animals with a rare human thrown in. Both are light-hearted and center around a small village's day-to-day activities, but also bring us on a fantastic adventure once in a while ; basically they're both slice of lives with a touch of fantasy, and nature / the outdoors is strongly present in both. While Doubutsu no Mori is only a movie, Tanoshii Muumin Ikka is a long TV series, but I'm a big fan of both for the same reasons. They're equally good if you're looking for something endearing, relaxing and wholesome to watch.
