Both are about orphan girls and their adventures around the world. Also,in both series, the action takes place in the Victorian era and the characters are, from many perspectives, very alike.

Both orphans, both pretty old series. Both extremely amazing. If you like the sort of story Heidi has to bring then you will love Candy as much.

I find both characters very similar both physically and personality wise. They both start off as orphans. But, the setting of each story is different.

Blonde little girl, two ponytails and an over-dramatic life. Surely Candy Candy was a 70's iconic anime, and Sandybell may be inspired by it. Both are produced by Toei animation only 2 years between, Sandybell is an original story (candy candy was manga first) shorter but not less dramatic than candy candy. Both girls start their stories at childhood and something tragic happens, and then they grow to follow their dreams and love...maybe. Surely a classic anime to watch with your mom.

Very similar mood, they both have romance and tragedies, but a good story overall

Similar protagonist, similar tropes. - Protagonist is a girl who grows up in the countryside - She is nice (too much so for my taste) - Animals love her, and she has a little animal consort - Also most humans like her, and she has many friends - And some (male) devotees who would even risk their lives for her, without getting anything in return - She gets into the high society - There, she meets her first serious enemies - Especially a girl around her own age hates her, and plots against the protag I found Candy Candy somewhat better, because it contains more interesting subplots and side characters, thanks to its length. in this anime main character is a little boy, its similar in a story, boy named Nello is a poor but happy orphan who lives with his grandfather Jehan in a little village. Its also about friendship and cruelty of the villagers. Also both anime have heart warming stories, full of emotions. If you liked Candy Candy you might like Flanders no Inu. ^^ have a good time watching! I hope my recommendation will be your choose.

The story from the beginning makes you think Lynn is a small version of candy, and the attitude of the girl is very similar to Candy, Lynn cries just a little less. The secondary characters are also similar to those of Candy, Sarah looks a lot like Annie, Arthur looks like Anthony, etc.

Both are really good and have a very sad story with unsatisfactory ending. Nana is the story about two girls that share the same name but with different personalities and about their friendship and love lives and the problems and obstacles they go through and Candy Candy is about a very good nature orphan girl who goes through a lot of obstacles in her life but she never gives up and also about her love life. Both of them are really sad dramas specially when it comes to their romantic lives and hardships of life. Expect to get emotionally consumed when watching Candy Candy just  read more

Candy also gets into a sorta-Daddy Long Legs situation when the Adleys adopt her, then they both find out that their benefactors aren't exactly who they expected them to be.

Both feature little girls as their main characters. Both of these girls go through major tragedies, and still manage to endure and move on with their lives.

Both of these series were aired at around the same time in Latin America. They tell the story of a girl's journey. Candy Candy explores more of the romantic and tragic life experiences a girl has growing up, opposed to Lunluns lightheartedness and magical powers.

Both are realistic stories made in 70´s and tell about orphan girl child who gets adopted. They have much difficulties in life and everything with adoption doesn't go as they dreamed. Anne and Candy both are tomboyish and have unique personality. Slice of life stories.
