They both have romance, action, plenty of fighting and competition, and yet they BOTH lack the SAUCE, expect to see zero physical affection in these anime.

It's also a anime that show how incredeble are be a gamer, but in this case, it' s a anime more nostalgic, because the main characters are young, and this anime for me, made I remenber a bunch of my past, the beginning of my gamer life, really recommend.

Both feature a female character who is very quiet and often use physical gestures to express their feeling. Both eventually fall in love with the male MC.

These two animes concentrate on being yourselves whether you’re an Otaku or a competitive gamer. It’s fun to experience the couples romantic moments in their own ways.

In both shows you will see the relationship between a mysterious girl and a normal guy trying to surpass her skills. Similar humor style.

The same female characters that have a communication problem, and would rather write what they want say, feel or express and a guy who now has the responsibility to be with a self muted girl.

Both series have a similar style of comedy and video game references aplenty (Seeeeegaaaaaa).

Two coming of age/romance animes that evoke a similar feeling of nostalgia in the viewer. Both talks about first love, have their nice share of comedy, and have a nice pacing. If you want someting in these lines, these two are a nice go.

These two anime are both very drama, slice-of-life, comedy oriented, however, both have adorable and dynamic romances and have moments that tug at your heartstrings.

If you liked Yahari you will probably like High Score Girl because in both shows - There are similar main characters who both start off kind of self centered. - Main character accompanied by 2 female characters where in the end you as a viewer might have hard time to choose which one to support more. - Stories in both shows are decent and worth watching. Yahari has more school setting than High Score Girl since people hang out in arcades as well. - Both have romcom and school elements in it. I would recommend this for the similar vibe they share, if you liked one, check  read more

Both shows focus heavily on Arcades. High Score Girl however has a more friendly competive vibe to it with some romance and even some random facts on certain arcade games.

Now I don't plan to blow up this rec but take it that Mirror Tune and HSG both have protagonists who seem to struggle in their geek life with, you guessed it, games. A lot of tangents come through when relating the two but it is pretty clear that there is a balance of geek stuff and real-life present in both. Makes for a ton of fun.

Love triangle. Feisty girl. What more do you need? High Score Girl and Golden Time both have the same tropes to play around with, but also do it in a way that makes them unique and maybe even relatable to a certain extent. With a loss of memory, Tada is made to deal with his past and present simultaneously in Golden Time. HSG has rivalry between Haruo and Akira, in their time also dealing with school and the likes children usually do at their age. There is a lot to maintain in both of these relationships in their respective worlds, whether they can keep up with  read more

If you've had the chance to watch Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo and enjoyed your experience, High Score Girl is definitely an anime you cant go wrong with. CAUTION, your heart strings will but tugged on, over and over again.

Romantic comedies They are both about games The main characters have relatively a similar personality

Games. Bottom-Tier and High Score Girl follow the relationship between two outstanding gaming individuals who cross paths by, none other than, games. The two pairs also have this strange split between personality with both Haruo and Tomozaki being that average person combined with their female counterparts who are on the elite side of the spectrum relative to the settings provided. High Score Girl is based on a younger sixth-grade relationship as opposed to a high school one given in Bottom-Tier. Also, High Score Girl's relationship starts out bumpy only going on the uphill road thereafter. Bottom-Tier is different from it being on this new idea of  read more

if ur not a harem fan then you have come to the right place. high score girl is about a loner kid who only wants to go to the arcade until he gets beat by a GIRL and the love story over video games begins there

Very similar concept and plot: three characters interested in one thing forming love triangle in the process. WA2 is about music, while HSG (I'm taking the whole series, meaning I + Extra Stage + II) is focused on arcade gaming.

Both are romance anime about the main protagonist trying to get the love of someone mysterious using their strenghts and flaws to their favor.

In both series, video games are an important part of the story. There are also many references to real games.

-main love interest bond and meet over videogames -the male protagonist doesn't understand the female protagonists feelings -both in school of some sort -multiplayer gaming + gaming together -friends who are gamers

Both anime are centered around middle-school romances from the perspective of a self-identified 'outcast/loner' boy (with a weird superiority complex) and a stereotypically pretty/popular girl with a strange quirk (eating snacks/gaming). Both stories feature similar relationship development, starting with the protagonist hating the love interest, before coming to understand and appreciate their friendship.

In both of them tells about a narrow subject, they can see how each of the characters relates to this. Their themes are that they are no longer at the peak of popularity, which is why it causes some sadness and nostalgia. Also, they are made in simple graphics with specific features.

You may notice that Akira Oono and Wakaba Himeji look very similar to one another. Both are the work of Rensuke Oshikiri.

-The plot involves characters socializing through video games -A guy surrounded by girls -Very comedic

Both are romantic comedies with love triangles that focus on and explain the history of certain niche interests.

These two are not from the same era, and they have very different genres and topics. But both are about a young boy meeting a mysterious girl, being annoyed at first, but also a little fascinated, and then having their relationship slowly evolve. There are also some similarities in the comedy, which relies a lot on the fact that the girl has the upper hand in their love-hate relationship.

Both are comedy anime involving so many games references and airing in Summer 2018. High score girl mc is playing and referencing so many old arcade and old console games, mainly Street Fighter series. While Chio chan mc is playing and referencing so many newer pc games, such as Assasin Creed, Fallout, PUBG, etc. High score girl contains many fluffy romantic moments, while chio chan contains so many over the top wacky scenes

Watching High Score Girl third episode made me think about Koe no Katachi and it is because of the 2 characters: - We get this relationship where the girl can not talk but the guy understands her. The girl doesn't use her voice - they use other "language" instead. Sign language or via playing games. - Also in the beginning the main guy dislikes her, but a lot changes. - The main characters also feel similar. Other than that, the themes are different but both have beautiful stories of a developing relationship. You should definitely check out High Score girl if you liked Koe no Katachi  read more

Both of them are romantic comedy anime where one of the characters almost never speaks, (in this one it's the boy, in that one it's the girl), and because of that the one that does speak has a very difficult job figuring out what the other is thinking.

Both incorporate - many game references - gaming eastereggs - and jokes about said games Falcom Gakuen is absurd slapstic comedy about Falcom games (Ys, Legend of Heroes, Xanadu) in a fictional world, Hi Score Girl is taking place in a realistic 80s setting but has a lot of direct and well informed game related humor (Street Fighter, Double Dragon, Final Fight... and tons more). If you're into Japanese games, especially in the retro territory, both are very recommendable.

- Young protagonists - the MC doesn't recognize his feelings for the girl and sees her as an "opponent" to compete against at first - both shows have comedic elements - both shows depict very cute, innocent, wholesome romances with a similar feel

- Both have Junior School Romance - Old Childhood - Most romantic in episode - Maybe netorare xD
report Recommended by Syureria
Both have timid but realistic main character that fall in love with a girl that seems to be way out of they league, in both you see support character trying to steam up the romance because in booth animes the couples are too timid, the main women of both animes haves strong motives to be timid, i also in both animes you see time passing, i give a 10/10 for both.

Same simple and sometimes goofy 3D CGI, same studio, same director. Very roughly put, both are romance anime with a twist

The every day life of younglings falling in love but is of different kind/status. Truth be told they feel very similar even though the settings are very different. At the core they grab you and drag you along a journey of something that should be slow and boring but refuses to let you go and clings to you untill the end.
report Recommended by Pontus
Minus the gaming element in the story which is more than apparent in High Score Girl, the relationship between its characters feels oddly similar. Love triangles are not a rare sight in anime but how it develops its characters, these 2 anime series have it the same way.

Both shows explore different aspects of games that arent commonly talked about nowadays (board games and arcade games) while also underlyingly following the development of the main character's, as they interact with others who share the same interest
report Recommended by Short_Circut
They both show how the players grow, and the value of the game for them changes. Shows what they gain and what they lose, when the game affects their lives.
