Pokémon 3: The Movie and Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion are two beautiful movies that explore the story of a wish for idealized worlds and of the main characters being in said worlds. While the former is a standalone film made for all ages and the latter is a dark sequel for an equally dark series for older audiences, both have similarities that I cannot ignore, including memorable fight scenes, some interesting shots/color choices, some tense moments (more of which is present in Madoka's case), and wonderful soundtracks (especially if you are watching the original Japanese version in Pokémon's case).

Both are Mons anime which use the creatures as a way to take on psychological issues children can go through. In the case of the Pokemon movie, the struggles of a 4 year old girl so hurt by loneliness and abandonment she manifests a creature to represent her missing, idealized father. In the case of Tamers, Juri gets reminded of a tragic event on her past after a certain event.

On the Pokemon Movie , Entei makes the little girls' wishes come true. On the Ao no Exorcist Movie, Usamaro eats people's bad memories to make them happy. It isn't exactly the same thing but I hope that you get where I'm coming from.

A sad little girl that has lost someone they love is trying to put on a brave face. They come upon a mythical type being that takes an interest in them and come with their own realm to be able to make any wish the little girl has come true. The empty space left by losing their loved one is filled with a substitute in the end. Also a young girl is mad when someone extra enters the picture and they view them as trying to take away someone precious to them. Struggles with issues like not wanting to share.
