Sorry it took me so long to reply, I'm inconsistent when it comes to how much I use this site. Anyways, for my general opinion of Fruits Basket I think it's a best Shoujo has to offer; at least for now. The romance is very good, especially for the main couple. Some of the side romances not so much, but the story doesn't focus on those ones so for the whole series so it's not a big deal. Same thing for the characters as well, with Kyo for example being a well written and enduring character while someone like Momiji and Ayame can be annoying at times and come and go as they please. Even so they have a purpose in the story that especially drives the main characters actions so they are by no means useless in a sense.

I'd say the biggest thing to consider before watching the anime is that although it starts off really cute and wholesome and it does carry those traits with it throughout the show, it also delves into very serious topics including depression, suicide, child abuse, abandonment, etc. So if you don't want to see any of that stuff it might be best to not watch it.

Whether you decide to read the manga or watch the anime I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Just one thing to keep of note is that if you decide to watch the anime there is two different versions of it, the 2001 version and the 2019 remake. I recommend watching the 2019 remake is it more closely follows the events of the manga and adapts the entirety of story as well.

Hey there. Is their any specific information you wanted to know about the series? Or do you just want my general opinion on it? As for the manga I've not read it yet, although I do want to in the future. I'm very inconsistent with reading manga so I don't know when I will get around to reading it but I hope to do so soon, as I've heard it is very good.
