Bro you and the MironBiron guy below clearly don't understand Vinland Saga and clearly don't understand what character development is.
"leaving no room for nuanced character development" Don't make assumptions about a story that's only just begun.
"all the while eliminating any other ideologies that could challenge his narrative." That is completely false. Thorfinn's ideologies get challenged all the time throughout the story. And if that were true, then he wouldn't of written Canute in the way he did.
Canute poisoning his own brother is just absolutely insane to me.
It's a total far cry from the Canute we saw during and after his catharsis in episode 18 of the first season.
I get that he needed to choose the path of violence in order to obtain his goals, but killing the brother that he loved does not make sense at all.
At least show us the actual events that drove Canute from a clear minded, Christ-loving man, into someone who crossed the borders of evil and insanity.
The author forgot about his original personality traits because he needed Canute to become Thorfinn's thematic and moral parallel.
That is not good writing.
The same goes for Ketil beating the absolute living shit out of Arnheid—not because he was forced to, but because he was genuinely pissed at her.
Another illogical and unrealistically written 180, simply because it fits the author's agenda to preach against violence.
The guy is a total fraud who writes his characters with very little empathy.

I see that the fans are in a state of cognitive dissonance after reading it.
Well done.
