This spoilerless review comes from someone who in most cases prefers anime and doesn't enjoy manga in general. I have watched the short anime of Saint Oniisan and few years later decided to give the manga a chance. This is the only manga that I really love and enjoy reading!
I don't agree with opinions that this manga is not for religious people. I was raised as a Catholic and I am also interested in Buddhism and other religions. To me this manga almost belongs to spiritual literature. You can really appreciate and enjoy all the jokes in there when you are familiar with the biographies
...
of Buddha and Jesus. The author must have thoroughly studied sources from both religions, sometimes also referencing Shinto and other spiritual teachings. It is a great reading even for people who are unfamiliar with either of them since the personalities of the main characters are just what you would expect from saints. There are also notes explaining some puns at the end of each episode. This manga shows Jesus and Buddha as normal guys, enjoying their vacation (taking a break from Heaven) in Japan, being nice and kind and...well saint! Their holiness also brings them to unexpected funny situations.
I believe that if those two met in real life they would be such good pals as in this manga. This also shows the deeper level or spirituality which is the same in both Christianity and Buddhism. This story is a great message of peace, not looking for differences but for things that those two religions are having in common.
The jokes are not offensive in any way and they are funny as hell...I mean heaven! ^_^" The art is very nice and the author also shows other characters connected to the main ones such as their disciples, angels and other heavenly beings, etc. The manga is episodic with only slight connection between the stories. This manga is simply cute!

Now I feel like Guts standing in front of the army of the new Berserk hating people. Bring it on then! No seriously I believe that many people rate this anime focused way too much on one thing, not looking at it objectively.
Let's start with the main problem, the animation. It is bad! When I though I got used to it after the first episodes but another punch in the face came. Silly censorship incarnated into characters with no genitals. The animation is a mix of CG and drawn one. The CG parts are really strange. However it's not like a total fail. Some
...
parts were beautiful. Some were sadly, hilarious. So I can't agree with statements like "The whole animation is terrible!". More like "Some parts are funny. (When they are not supposed to be funny.)"
Enough of that. If you forget the animation, then this anime is pretty good. Exactly what I expected and wanted to see as a sequel to the original series. The dark and raw atmosphere is still there, even darker. Guts is as badass as always and you even see some old characters not only in flashbacks.
There are also new characters that are really well made with a focus on their inner feelings. They are just humans after all and they act like that. There are some inner conflicts and deep thoughts. Also some epic quotes that we "anime only watchers" were waiting for!
The sound effects are very specific, especially Guts and his sword slashes will leave a trace in your memory. The music is a treasure. Really an amazing OST. (Susumu and his Hai Yo really reminded me the previous anime adaptations.)
So I have really enjoyed this show despite the bad expectations I had after watching the trailer. I was really wondering if I should watch or drop it. Glad I stayed. You know it was also announced that the season 2 is coming next year. Give it a shot, survive the animation torture and you'll never regret it!

At first this anime looked like an interesting historical anime with some fantasy elements. There is however one thing that made this anime a masterpiece for me. The character development.
Many anime (also films and tv shows, maybe even books) has this strange flaw. The main character, especially when being a female has some kind of super power that makes him/her a really incredibly fast student of anything. This character learns how to fight immediately while the rest must have trained hard as hell to achieve their levels and not only fight. One example is Rey from Star Wars Episode VII.
Another thing is that this character
...
sometimes shows that he/she spent some time learning so OK they are powerful now. But aside from that they are still the same, unchanged. Example of that is Sakura from Naruto (hard to say that since I was a huge NaruSaku fan), Such characters are acting totally irrationally and like a 15 years old spoiled kids.
This anime breaks this curse finally. The character development of Yona hime is incredible. Not only does she learn how to fight but she also transforms from the spoiled little princess into a useful young lady on a good way to become a leader of the country. And it's not like a miraculous transformation, no she still has a way to go and that's what makes it even more closer to reality.
The story is pretty good overall, also the environment has an unique reality/legends feel. The comedy scenes are pretty funny and making the anime more enjoyable. Sometimes they appear even during a serious moments but it's cool. And the music is badass. Just listen to the first opening and you'll understand.

A huge disappointment!
I have been a Naruto fan for ages and I have to say a HUGE Naruto fan. But there is one thing I cannot accept...when the author turns everything you like about the show to dust.
This movie is set somewhere after the last manga chapter (By the way, didn't like the ending either.). Naruto is like a star in Konoha. Everybody loves him, he has a lot of fans, especially among young girls. This part was beautiful, I have to admit. I really enjoyed the feels when watching Naruto and his “Will of Fire” after all the suffering he had to go through.
...
It was also nice to see all the other characters, especially Kakashi as a hokage looks so epic! And the intro where they summarized the whole story in an awesome ink-like animation was so amazing!
Unfortunately, that's all. The rest of the film is not worth watching. You know, something is probably wrong when scenes that are supposed to be sad or dramatic makes you laugh. I found the whole plot really ridiculous and stupid. It had such a filler-like atmosphere. Some random villain comes here to marry Hinata and the Moon falls on the Earth to destroy it. Seriously?
Plus most of the film is just about Hinata dealing with her love for Naruto and everybody forcing Naruto to understand what love is, to make her happy. Is Naruto soap opera or what? I don't mind romance in anime but this romance was so ridiculous and kinda forced or how to say that. I am not sure what to think about the intentions of the author. It was like “Umm now let's add a cool fight with...eh who? Well let's make someone random up aaand now...hm let's bring romance again, never mind just place there Hinata and her shy face, that's enough.”
So the result? If it wasn't Naruto I would probably say it was an interesting movie, not memorable but not bad. The thing is that it is Naruto after all. It was supposed to be the last movie that closes one era in Naruto universe. It brought us a filler with a childish plot and distorted characters form the original anime instead.
I expected more, much more dattebayo!

At first I just thought this is another Neon Genesis Evangelion cheap clone. I regret thinking this. How could I be so dumb....
This anime is definitely the most serious one I have ever seen. NGE, Cowboy Bebop, Kara no Kyoukai are my favorite anime so I am used to see some characters die etc but in this case I had my eyes wet many times.
Don't wanna spoil so I will make it quick. The plot begins with a bunch of kids (about 14 years old) who met an mysterious person named Kokopelli. They got contracted into some kind of game where they are supposed to
...
fight some alien robots. The truth is that it's not just a game...
I was very skeptic when I saw this first episode but what followed was just incredible. This anime is so close to reality, no miracles, no revivals no immortal characters. You have the feeling that something really important is going on and they just have to do their best, not just like in some other anime like "Well cool but it's not like he's gonna die so...whatever he will beat all the villains after all."
There are some very sad moments involving each character. I really loved how this anime shows us every character's personal story and background. For such a short anime I was afraid that there are too many main characters but in the end I felt like I knew them for ages.
In the end there are many unresolved questions but I don't hate cause of that. It somehow seems natural with this anime...

So another GITS is here. This time we learn something new about Major's past and also about the legendary Section 9.
I think this Arise series is getting better and better with every episode. I really enjoyed this one and I think it was the best on of Arise so far. I loved the thoughts about the cyberbodies, are they real bodies or just a things?
This film contains again all the GITS stuff like hacking into other people's minds, problems with some body parts, super cool Motoko Kusanagi and of course all the other characters, logicomas etc.
We can see again cyborgs and humans side by
...
side. The ending scene for example, Kusanagi talking to Togusa, A special trained full cyborg and a normal natural human almost like from a history, like he's not really from that age. And not only that scene. Although Motoko is a full cyborg and had a dark past, we can see her also falling in love in this episode, not in a normal way like we probably know from all the romantic films but still...
Also one interesting scene about old people with a new lives with a new cyborg bodies, living again, getting married etc. Kinda interesting.

I reviewed the first film and I was like, alright this will be like a review of the whole series. Well I just cannot resist but write something again after watching the fifth film.
I didn't think this would ever happen. For years my favorite anime was Neon Genesis Evangelion, mostly for the deep thoughts inside. Now I have to add Kara no Kyoukai on the first place. This is the only anime worth sharing the first place with NGE :D.
My mind is totally blown up. After each film when the credits start I am just staring with an opened mouth. Such an mindblowing and incredibly
...
awesome ideas and thoughts wooow!!!
This fifth film is definitely the best one so far. But it would be a nonsense to watch it just like that. It's a part of the whole Kara no Kyoukai series and it's perfect only when viewed together.
Anyway I don't wanna spoil but Shiki was even cooler here than before and finally Touko showed us what an amazing magician she is. But the thoughts in there...maaaan the thoughts....
Sorry my brain is....I...just....just watch it guys :D

You know nothing Jon Snow....
This is how I felt after watching this film.
What the hell was it all about? Who are the people there, what is their relationship? What is the point? The first movie lefts you confused but still it has a really strange atmosphere.
I noticed some amazing and deep thoughts in this film. "The scenery you see from a high place is magnificent. Even an ordinary landscape looks beautiful. But a vision that's too large creates a boundary between you and the world...." I spent a long time thinking about lines like this one.
Aside from that, which is the most important thing
...
for me, you know deep thoughts, well aside from that you are gonna love the characters. Well on character at least. Shiki...she's so cool, really reminds me Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, by appearance and even by behavior etc.
The art was beautiful as well, kinda dark and creepy though. However that how it's supposed to be after all. There was also one action scene, kinda epic...hah well everything with music by Yuki Kajiura and Kalafina girls is epic.
That another awesome thing, the music here. Some of the songs became legends and every Kalafina fan knows them.
So I won't make it too long. If you like dark and serious anime with some stuff to think about, this one is for you. And don't worry if you're confused after finishing this. I have seen the second movie today and everything is much clearer know, I guess after the rest it will be alright.

Alright, just saw the last episode.....cannot find any words in my mind right now. Huuuh...
*Five minutes later*
So I got a recommendation for this anime form my friend and didn't expect much of it. I was told that it's something between Clannad and Angel Beats and since I enjoyed those two I decided to give it a shot. Another thing that convinced me was only 11 episodes. That's good, no so long.
Basically you watch a story of bunch of friends who lost their dear friend Menma. At first it just seems like they got over it and everything is ok. However the past is back. One
...
of them, Jintan can see her spirit. She is just living with him and speaking like nothing happened. I won't spoil so let's just say that slowly you start to see that deep under the masks of the people there are feelings and emotions from a long time ago. Feelings that will never disappear.
In the end they all have to deal with their own mind, with everything that the past brought back to the present.
I also heard this anime is very emotional. Well I didn't feel like that until.....the last episode. Just couldn't hold my tears...

This was one of my first anime ever. (not counting Pokemon and Digimon) After years I decided to rewatch and it was totally worth it. I missed so many things before.
Almost everyone get caught by Spike Spiegel. I doubt that there is a cooler character in any other anime. When you finish this anime, you'll feel a need to just walk around with hands in your pockets and disinterested face. During the whole anime we can see some flashbacks and hints about his past but the main thought comes in the two final episodes which are truly epic. Not epic like American action films
...
but epic for the simplicity of the ending.
But it would be such a pity not to mention all the other characters, every with a unique personal story. To be honest I think I don't know any other anime with better characters and their background.
Jet, cool-looking bounty hunter cooperating with Spike and acting a bit like a boss or even like an older brother to everyone on his ship. Faye, a girl who lost her memory and comes from a long time ago. She's acting cool and self-assured but then you realise that it's just a mask to hide her real face of someone who doesn't really know where he belongs and who maybe finally found something like home. Ein, genial dog (kinda cute one :D) and Ed. Hehe looks like it's she but none can say for sure. I can guarantee that you will be looking forward to every scene with Ed, they are really hilarious.
During the whole series we follow this bunch hunting villains as their job and I gotta say that some episodes are really deep. No fantasy, no fairy tale, just life as it is.
But life is just a dream in the end....
