If it helps you make the jump, AniList has a function within your profile settings that lets you take your exported list from MAL (as well as AnimePlanet and others) and put it into AniList. That way, the conversion is as easy as it gets. A couple of things may be dropped / combined based on how AniList catalogues things, but for the most part, it's a smooth transition.

One other thing too - the UI for AniList is FAR friendlier when it comes to conversing with individual users. Message threads have their own links, you and @ people to specifically get their attention, etc. There's also more customization with four different types of ratings (1-10, 1-10 with decimals, 1-100, smiley faces), making individualized lists is also VERY intuitive, etc.
